Hi Benjamin, thanks for your question. Jesus said of John the Baptist in Matthew 11:14, "And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come." This was a reference to Malachi 4:5-6, which say, "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.” Jesus meant that John the Baptist came in the spirit and power of Elijah in order to fulfill the prophecy of Malachi, not that he was a reincarnation of Elijah. The teaching of reincarnation is contrary to the Bible, so Jesus would never have taught such a thing. Hope that helps!
