If there was a lead hand on that crew he wasn’t doing his job. He should have never let you climb with no gloves, he should have kept the other guys out of the fall zone, that bolt should have been replaced , the lashing was wrapped incorrectly on the left side of the pole,. Other than that congratulations on getting into the industry , it fed and housed my family for over 40 years

Little bit of advice get a set of 9s cut the coating off them weld a 7/16 and 1/2 deep well socket on either side of the handle put shrink boot on for a coating won’t need two tools when you go up for new build, but I do carry a set of cable cutters with me in case I need to cut a strap

I am embarrassed to see the quality of work now being produced by "gumps" such as these. I spent 50 years in the telecom industry and was taught quality is an absolute. Hence the name - Craftsman. But those days are gone. There are too many quality / safety issues with this video to take up time addressing. I think these dudes need to find another job. I know that I they had come on my job sites they would certainly have been read the riot act and probably escorted out the door. Shame that no one is teaching proper construction procedures and you can see this all across the U.S. these days.

Isn't it hard to climb so close to the pole and with your squeeze so tight on the pole? As I've gained experience climbimg I've learned it's much easier to climb with slack on your rope to let you have room from the pole. Lets you really lock your knees out easy. Having a little more slack on the squeeze on the pole lets you flick your wrist as you climb instead of pulling the whole squeeze up. You can tighten it when you get up if ya want.

WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT BUILD AERIAL OSP LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!! WOW! I dont know where to start with all that is wrong with this video. I would reject everything. In no particular order this plant would be rejected by me for the following reasons; 1)too many safety violations to name, 2)you need a bending board or jackson bender to form the loop, 3) the bolt is way too long, 4)I would never allow twisted lashing wire, they need to stay parallel, 5) never drop you waste to the ground, 6) if you do they for a living you need a pair of lineman boot at least a pair with a significant heel, In addition swap the lasher to the other side of the pole first, us a bridle on the lasher, (it is only a matter of time before it gets dropped), use the correct linemen tools, Klein 9s with 7/16 nut driver welded to the handle, get up higher on the pole to swap a lasher, repair the lasher, it is only half there (backdate is missing, briddle is missing, get the correct lineman tool pouch
