Finally, someone who uses bases and doesn't make the hair look like it's been gelled onto their head/face! It's just so odd when the hair on a base drawing looks like it's a part of the person's face and not their hair, or it has been painted on the head.

I use bases and it doesn't look like the hair is painted onto the person's head. I'm Legacy-Galaxy on DeviantArt, by the way. Although I may not be uploading anything more for a while, due to my only means of internet being completely broken.

I'm saying I don't understand what you mean by "looks painted on the head" I've seen a lot of base edits and I still don't get what you mean. Do you mean the style is too different from the base? Or something else?

I used to use bases and they helped me get a feel for the anatomy. I still use them, but I also of course do my own work as well, I mostly use them for de-stressing. But I think bases are a great tool, and can be fun for people who are looking to doodle on them and have OCs and arent really looking for a career in art or even growing in it, like a hobby.

Despite the negativity about the use of a base and the fact its a alicorn, I liked this speedpaint. It was done with Paint Tool Sai (Which means proper shading and what-not), was created with quite a bit of effort, and I think the colors for the gore are fine! MLP is a pastel color themed show after all! If your OC reflects the shows themes, thats alright! And you can't really call it a mary sue judging by looks. Anyways, for the lazy people, I enjoyed this speedpaint despite the flaws! :D

But to be honest. Liliumena did not create pastel gore. Do not correct me just because I didnt say Mlp. Pastel gore art is pastel gore art. Sorry if I'm harsh tho. Just trying to spread the word because people keep saying "you are copying liliumena!" or something like "Liliumena started the pastel gore art, you should credit her in the description" But no. While I don't really like when people use bases,since it doesn't really help improve one's art,I feel like this time is pretty good. Though I have to agree with some others,that you could've chose lighter colors to make it look pastel. Overall, I like it ^-^ good job!

Good job! You did really well but I would suggest that you slowly try to get out of the habit of using bases as you seem to be a good enough drawer not to have to use them! It's ok to use a reference base if you want to stay in your comfort zone, but many people may see your art as fake because of bases. I, however, do not see your art as fake at all, in fact I love the way you draw. I simply think you have the potential to draw freehandedly! If you do not bode well with this idea and would like to stick with bases, I am just giving you a suggestion! You're doing well, keep drawing!

Sooo... I'm presuming a base was used since it says "base edit" in the title. Well, I just have one thing to say. This drawing would have been better if you didn't use a base, since I see you have so much skill!!!
