Funny you say that at the end about keying on the SSTV frequency... I heard plenty of people doing that on the 40m band around me in Southern Ontario. I don't recall commenting on one of your videos before, so I'll say this now. The videos you produce are excellent! I only became a ham just over a year ago and the majority of my knowledge (especially antennas) has come from you. Thank you for all that you do and please, keep up the great work! Thanks for the comments, I really appreciate it. As for the SSTV, I'm pretty sure all common sense goes out the door field day weekend. Much like the maritime mobile net, the slow scan operators will guard their frequency and chase off anyone intrepid enough to attempt to call CQ on it.

The "Solar Powered Smoker" made a dang fine brisket if I do say so myself. Yup the smoker ran off the inverter in the camper which is powered by a 500 watt solar setup.

You all faired better than I did. I met up with some club members at the Big South Fork National Park in Oneida, TN for a impromptu POAT. I did take my IC-705, laptop, battery, jackery portable power station, coax and a couple of antennas. I did, however do a demonstration on PSK31 and RTTY with my radio. Made one contact on PSK31 and nothing on RTTY. I tried working some DX on SSB on 15m, but it wasn't working out. Even swapped antennas from my Chameleon LEFS 40-10M to the Tactical Delta Loop with no success. However, I did get to try the TDL on 30m with the IC-705. Believe it or not, it was resonate with the IC-705 running 5w. Really low SWR, maybe a 1.1:1 to a 1.2:1 at 10w out. We shut everything down around noon EST. I stay for a bit to give a club member a bit more demo time with digital modes with the HRD Software.

The 1000 watt pure sine wave inverter in the camper that was powered by a 150 amp/hr LiFePO4 battery charged by approximately 500 watts of solar.

Awesome video we shut down Field Day operations here in Central Minnesota about 5:30 due to a tornado warnings and lightning strikes nearby. We were at a county fair 73 gentleman from kf0myu (cube n0wn 1A mn )

I was 1E STX and got all but one of my whopping 22 contacts hunting on 20m. I work until I get tired and/or bored and then stop for a while. Why don't you load up the Subaru with Spotted Cow and come down for a visit? 😉 U-rah-rah

Awesome setup Michael! That 15m moxon seems to work well! I bet a 10m moxon will come in handy with the upswing in solar activity. I love the Kelty Waypoint, I use it on some activations as well!! 73, NG9B

I'm thinking about getting my license and people tell me to at least upgrade to a general after but I'm not sure cause I just wanna get on the air and make contacts and field day and Dx contest. My radio of choice ill be getting will be a Xiegu X6100

I’m just starting to get back into Ham radio. So really a newby even though I’ve had a license since 1988. What is the 2A that they’re mentioning? What’s that reference?
