Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Chase Sexton is on quite the run. Millville, round seven of 2024 Pro Motocross, only solidified his position at the top of the 450MX class. Here, he tackles a gaggle of topics.

Comparing chase era now, versus stewart and rc before? Naaah! I dont think those two would make it to the podium like chase and jett did. Today's all riders are definitely fast compare before. We have the lawrence brothers, eli, coop, jcoop, ken roczen, anderson and ap. All of them are pretty fast.. this bubba shit must stop. Wht dont u tell to ur brother malcolm to stop racing instead? Thrash! 😂

@joshsowell3804
@joshsowell3804 Ай бұрын
He’s also a taller rider, has a long giraffe neck, and hinges a lot so he’s right about not being able to position his head straight forward the way his body position is. Jett doesn’t look like that and he has a giraffe neck too but his body stays more upright than Chase. The comment was more about him running into lappers more frequent than he should but I can see Chase being sick of hearing what he does wrong all the time when he’s usually fighting for wins. James praises him 90% of the time but criticisms are all people takeaway it seems
@jacquez570
@jacquez570 Ай бұрын
@@joshsowell3804i agree for the most part but it seems like ever since they split james has been hyper critical of chase and tends to have more judgment over chase than any other rider and it doesn’t always seem like it’s coming from the right place even tho james will say it does.
@joshsowell3804
@joshsowell3804 Ай бұрын
@@jacquez570 I’m sure some of that is because Chase is always in the tv discussion because he’s battling for wins. I’ve heard different versions of their training experience so I’m sure it’s somewhere in the middle. Plus I think Ricky and James recognize how good Chase is and got frustrated watching him throw so many away the last few seasons. High point this year made me throw my hands up and give up. Then he won 5 of the next 6 motos. Hopefully he’s figured it out for good and can actually pass and battle Jett more often

Look back at many photos of riders where you can see their eyes. Many of them have that "head down" look, but their eyes are up and looking up the track. Having ridden/raced for decades (and not very good at it, admittedly), there's no way of riding at their speed looking at your front fender.

As a former racer I'm glad Chase set them straight on the whole looking down remarks. I was yelling at James to shit up when he was saying that crap. He does carry his head low but he's obviously focused forward, there's no way you can ride atbthat level without looking as far ahead as possible. I always told young racers that it's like being in a boat. The more you look ahead the easier it is for your body to follow your eyes. The easier it is to maintain balance. Your body adjust automatically to maintain a level and 'quiet' head movement. The farther you look ahead and just process it as you traverse the course in your peripheral you will be in the zone naturally. This is much easier to achieve when you're smiling. I would always smile when shit got tough and it made it so much easier to find energy and focus when I would smile. That's why they say just have fun.

it’s difficult to judge from the one clip they showed on peacock because chase was obviously crossing behind hunter and dodging the roost line. that said, the single most effective thing even a D rider can benefit from is to look where you’re going not where you are. i’m quite certain every pro rider knows this so if someone the caliber of chase or jett is actually looking down for extended periods of time, it’s because something is bothering them or they’re (e.g.,) dodging roost. /2cents

I’ve been trying to get my head up like Ryno talks about. Now that Chase mentioned that while his head may be pointing down, his eyes are looking up, I realize I do exactly the same thing for identical reasons. My go pro is mounted under my visor. The footage tends to be focused on the ground. But my vision is definitely looking up and forward. Thanks Chase. As an OG, now that’s one thing less to correct ✅

I try to avoid becoming a fan of any one rider, simply because I know little to nothing about them other than what I see on the track or what the media presents to me. And, reality is they just race dirt bikes...it's not like they're nurses or doctors or educators or engineers or doing something other than entertaining us. That said, I had hoped Sexton would dump his problem with crashing himself out of c-ship opportunities. At times (more often than not) he's been the fastest guy on the track. I also don't avoid the facts. His SX c-ship was most certainly helped by that weird achilles injury of Tomac's. And, although he's made ground on Jett, Jett still had him covered up until that dumb decision to jump that downhill section which started his demise. But, ya gotta be in it to win it. Sexton certainly seems to be his strong point. But, now there's Phillips. His over-the-top fan-boy behavior with Sexton is getting me to hope someone other than Sexton wins it. Even during the McGrath and RC years, I was always of the mindset just let it play itself out, without an opinion or desire otherwise. But, damn, Phillips, enough of the nut-gargling. It's kinda creepy.

Chase calling out James "The Weatherman" Stewart, on the things he shouldn't be talking about. like saying Chase has 1 good line through the whoops, then Chase passes Hunter going up the hill, (after Hunter screws up the turn before) then sets sail, to a tune of almost 5 seconds in a lap. Again, a 2nd in the first moto is just as good as a 1st. Chase also mentions he didn't trust his bike last year. But lets not bad mouth Honda.

Your neck and back are only in that position for short bursts of time, when you sit on the straights and coming out of turns, your neck isn't kinked. Looking more down, you run more of a risk of tucking that front end, so in the end the juice aint worth the squeeze in my opinion. Hopefully at some point in this sport we'll admit that RC and JS7, while 2 of the best ever at what they did, have no place in the booth. Both are agonizing to listen to as they call a race. RC is just in over his head and James can't string together coherent analogies, much less sentences. Let the professionals do it and leave those 2 to sign autographs and remain the legends they are rather than taint their legacies by being known as 2 of the worst commentators on TV.
