I dont think its worth it. Tij Iginla will be a franchise player. A leader.

I can see why people are speculating on it. Montreal has publicly stated they are taking a forward and if they trade down they can possibly get Tij. But realistically these kind of trades are generally worked out on the draft floor when the teams have an idea of who will be available.

I know this has been mentioned before but I wonder how Tij would react to the pressure of following his legendary dad in Calgary. Having him here is an exciting prospect but so is picking up a potential future #1 D-man. And ya I know this is the start of silly season for mock drafts

This is why writers are paid to write and not to draft. Buium is a potential 6-9 pick, and the flames are going to give up a late first so they can take him at 5th overall while the Canadians can still get their guy at 9th. Sounds like a great plan.

Honestly if Tij is there at 9 take him. If not try and trade back to 12-15 and pick up another late 1st round pick and keep stacking quality prospects. Trading up doesn't really make sense at this point

no way flames trade up for Zeev, i can see them trading up to get the likes of Cayden Lindstrom, but zeev has a good chance to fall to 9th, and even out of the top 10. other than celebrini and Demidov, this draft class is a crap shoot for where players will go. but 100% Conroy would not give that up to move up to draft Zeev Buium.

I think it's a no deal. There are good players available at the number 9 spot and I really believe that center ice is where the Flames need to go. Backlund is 35 and Kadri is going to be 32. Both are still playing well but for how long

It will be a draft loss if we don't get get Tij! As you stated THE FANS want Tij! That should be enough for ownership and management to do whatever they can to ensure Montreal doesn't get him. NHL is in the business to entertain a fan base! That's it. Trade for the #4 pick with Colombus, I'm sure they would love some players like Mangiapane and Markstrom.

Thats a draft day deal if it would happen. Personally I do not see the point at all. The prospect rankings after the no.2 spot are all over the place from one list to the next. Now i dont think Buium makes it to 9 but some other very good player on our list will. A no.1 D would be great but a centre is still the main need in my opinion. It makes more sense to reach for another pick within the top 10-12(easier said than done i know) for instance If Marky was still willing to go to NJ and they still wanted him, do Marky with retention, Vans 1st and even throw in Mange with retention for NJ 1st. If they want to get Allen off the books we can take him and flip him for any pick from this year on as he would just be a cap dump. Now retention seemed to be an issue in the original deal apparently but Cap is not an issue for us now and Mang would be coming off the books next year anyway and is going to be hard to get and solid return on him after the season he juat had(if he doesnt turn it around next season) It's hard to get another high first rounder, especially over the past few years but I cant imagine thats on Conroy's mind.

I could see trading to fifth for ninth and 26-32 if we also got our first from next year back, might have to give up a fifth or something as well to make it happen.

Corey shnieder was traded to Vancouver for 8th overall. I think if you can trade markstrom for a top 10 pick you absolutely do it

That 100% will not happen. It's a bad trade for Calgary, and I'd be pretty surprised if they take defenseman. I want them to take Tij, but we need a center.
