my grandfather gave me his 1974 Dodge Coronet in a dark green colour in 1989. drove it over 7 years.

A friend I know who is a Chrysler mechanic has a "plain wrapper" 1976 Dodge Coronet. It was used by the chief of public safety at Cal State Hayward. It is a white car with a blue interior and comes equipped with a police package. Also has air conditioning, electric rear window defroster, split bench seat, trunk release, limited slip differential, power windows, and power locks.

Had a 73 coronet with a 318. No power steering or ac. No smog stuff . Just had power brakes and tow package. That was the only car I have owned that would throw you back in the seat hard when you stopped the accelerator and burn rubber for over hundred feet. Good memories.

When the fuselage C body styling went away in '74, the B sedans kept these flowing lines, which I've alwats liked. These are sturdy built cars that last.

Hey guys, cool Coronet. I have the same year Coronet but it is a retired CA Highway Patrol car police package with the original 440. I am doing a nut and bolt restoration on it. It’s also black but with a beige interior. Those cars with a big block 400 or 440 are great driving cars. Best of luck with yours

Properly equipped (225 slant six and three-on-the-tree) the '76 Coronet was EPA rated 30 mpg highway, same as the Aspen/Volare wagon twins.

I had fury like that I got at auction for$400. It was an old state trooper patrol car. I had a lot of fun in it.

Note the double-bend shift lever and rounded rather than angular shift knob. Three-on-the-tree. Would have been cool to demonstrate operation from inside the passenger cabin.

What is funny is that during the malaise era, the best performing cop car wasn't a big-block B- body. It was the A38 Dodge Dart or Plymouth Valiant with the 360. Handled better. Braked better. Faster, too- better power-to-weight ratio.

At car would have to be at least 40 years old to have metal hub cabs, a mast antenna, bumper jack, full size spare tire, stand alone am radio, and a three on the tree manual transmission.

The Coronets, Furys, and the Monacos were the safest, best riding, and the most reliable cars on the road than the "throw away plastic carbon composite cars," of today. I wish I could find one if these cars I would restore it. I also wish Chrysler still made these cars today I would buy one
