The Thunderbird would be successful if it had excellent quality, V8 and rear wheel drive like the current Mustang and possibly hybrid not all electric like the Mustang E. Some classic styling cues but mostly modern with technology and `good marketing.

Ford has already said they are not doing any more electric vehicles. It will be an internal combustion engine. They really screwed up when they stop selling all of the sedans in North America. Nothing but pick up trucks and SUVs. That is so stupid.

The last rendition of the Thunderbird 2002-2005 was based on the Lincoln LS which proved to be very problematic. Despite a loyal following it was soon discovered the Thunderbird inherited all the Lincoln's shortcomings. If Ford is going to bring back the Thunderbird they have to start with a clean slate in order to do it right.

If it's offered as a hybrid or a plug-in hybrid, both of which make lots of sense, count me in. If it's offered only as an EV, forget about it! Hopefully, Ford will get this one right.

Why is there a Corvette from :51-:56 if they're not referencing it, which they're not. What about a rear view shot of this (supposedly) upcoming T-Bird? Model year? I'm guessing 2028; a much later section of the decade. In the rear quarter panels, I definitely see the '64-'66 (4th gen) T-Bird influence.

I bought a new 1997 TBird it was a great car I got it loaded with everything I could get I drove it for 10 years and sold it in 2007 it had 90 thousand miles on it and I took great care of it

@jimwolfmeyer6664, yep, they're heavier because of the excessive weight of the batteries, they lose up to half their range in colder climates. Imagine handing over $80 to a merchant for "20 gallons of fuel" BUT you only get 10 gallons, so that's effectively $8/gallon of fuel.🙄 AE-V's are excessive in cost, they can lock you out if you lose total battery power and unless they've corrected it now you can't get a "quick charge" on the side of the road like you can a couple gallons of fuel in a can... You also have the fire risk if the vehicle is in an accident and/or suffers flood damage. They still by in large part continue to CHARGE from power generated by the consumption of fossil fuels so it makes you an absolute hypocrite... Just so many negatives because the tech is just NOT there yet whilst the corrupt politicians and enviro-terrorists are RAGING "GET RIDDA ALL THEM COMBUSTION ENGINE VEHICLES & GO ALL-ELECTRIC!!" The SENSIBLE "transition" vehicle would've been HYBRIDS but it's not about solving real world problems, it's about the $$$/politics.

Have both EV and 2 ICE vehicles. Those of you who don’t have EV that complain have no idea. No issues so far, done a road trip, haven’t bought gasoline all of 2023. My wife wanted it, I thought I’d hate it, but I drive it more than my other vehicles. BTW my other cars are both factory boosted with manual 6 speeds. Around the city my EV is king of stop lights. Hate all you want, but afford one and you’ll see…

@@mbasir I don’t like that they call the Mach e a mustang, but that doesn’t make it a bad vehicle. At least it didn’t replace the real mustang, rather just added another vehicle to the line-up. Id understand the utter hatred if it ended the actual sports car mustang, and we were left with ONLY the Mach E…. Like what they plan for the Camaro

You don't think 500 pound engines are heavy not to mention exhaust pipes, drive trains, rear ends not to mention 6 pounds per gallon of gas you don't know what you're talking about. Did I mention transmissions. Last, but not least when you fill them up, they don't gain any weight. Did I mention the slower you drive them the more miles you get unlike a gas engine. Each car of the miles they get here based on 65 miles an hour slow down to 50 to get incredible mileage even slower at 30 even better..@@zenithperigee7442

The original T-Bird was (among other things) Ford's answer to the Corvette. Also, there's an EV Corvette on the way. I'm not saying it makes a lick of sense, I'm just ruminating....

I really loved that this presentation focused mainly on the sporty early T Birds.. but what about the huge 1977 to 1979 models? Being one of 3 sister cars - the LTD II and the Cougar. The standard engine was a very weak sluggish 302 2bl .. Time trials were measured with a sundial! I had a 78 LTD II which had a 351 Cleveland and even with the hatred it had for 87 octane fuel it was able to get up and move pretty fast.. even better with 93 "white Amaco" premium fuel which was an outrageous 90 cents per gallon. Oh and another T Bird missing was the next generation which 1980 my parents purchased.. it had a 302 2bl and the new quirky overdrive transmission. It would however easily leave tire marks on the pavement if you mistakenly gave the throttle too much push from a stoplight! 🙂

Please, please don't make it an EV. I want a normally aspirated V-8. That is what my Super Bird was. That is my family's '64 Landau was. That is what my G80 is. The G80 is the ONLY car I have ever driven that was more fun than our T-Birds. ... And let's be honest, a lot of that is due to 20 years of tech advancement. -- Bottom line. Upgrade the tech, but it needs to stay a driver's car. Simple, powerful, drivable while delivering a nice dash of luxury.

Not one 9th or 10th gen auto segment in the whole video. Search the comments on KZfaq...These cars especially the turbo and super charged models seem to mostly get positive reviews. Can't state how many times Ive read..."I use to own a super coupe...wish I'd never gotten rid of it..or..best car Ive ever owned". The original 1st and 2nd gen models were cool, but by the time the 11th (2002-2005) came out all the original interested buyers were either dead or too old to drive. Ford blows it again. Millennials and us boomers (still young enough to drive) want a retro 80/90's car. Dont really have to change the shape much. How about just making it retro by not electrifying the dam thing!

I'm not sure what message this video is trying to send. It keeps beating us over the head that Ford is trying to tap into the nostalgia of the original, but then plops in that nonsense about the electric power train. This video is focusing on the totally wrong thunderbirds, if they were gonna bring it back it definitely should be based on the TC & SC birds as an fun luxury sports coupes. How about taking a Thunderbird/TAURUS/Continental and put it on a new chassis and call it a Falcon Squire Estate and put next to the Ford pickups that are selling way above MSRP. And the dealers can charge outrageous prices because we all know that Ford is owned by Snap-on tools and that explains a lot . Just venting!!😊

We drove for years only Thunderbird and even moved it to different countries. We may consider if it ever comes back. But *surely NOT as E-car* - simply because we not only care about the environment but also about the people - mainly kids - of the DRCongo who have to mine the cobalt!! It's simply shameful and disgusting under which conditions these kids and adults must work! Sounds funny or stupid? I saw nothing in the video of a "new" Thunderbird. The moment the narrator said, "EV powertrain", I shut it down. Sorry, Ford. If you go down that dead end rabbit hole, You've screwed up the Thunderbird revival once again. Thunderbirds have powerful, thumping V8 engines. Not exploding, unreliable, Chinese-mineral, heavy, highly toxic batteries for an engine. Save your research & developement money and keep giving us over-priced, aluminium-bodied trucks we can't afford.

Thunderbird has been dead too long! Bringing it back as an EV is a terrible idea! And all the electric gadgets will just tax the charging system and cause more failures! What happened to making a car that is fun to drive, economical, and affordable?

Electric cars are not practical for a long long time. I will never buy an electric that looks like a classic. We are paying too much for cars as it is. Sale cars cheaper and don't waste money on something impractical.
