This movie had the nuance to understand that a matriarchal society can be just as damaging as a patriarchy and that the goal should be equality and individuality free from gender conventions.

This was probably the first time in any Barbie media where Ken is given a much needed personality and for the most part, they succeeded it 🙌

A lot of people really thought that Ryan Gosling was a poor choice for Ken and yet here he is right now gave one of the best supporting performances of 2023, gave a huge hit song that's now part of our pop culture and got an Oscar nomination. Great job to Ryan and also Greta Gerwig for proving the haters wrong 🙌

Ryan Gosling performances is top notch in this part of the movie , the emotion in his face is everything 👏👏👏👏 . And Margot Robbie shines to in this movie with every word 👏👏👏👏 .

Margot Robbie deserved an Oscars nomination for Best Actress. Her performance was moving, poignant, funny, nuanced, and sincere. It is completely rare for someone to receive a Golden Globes, SAG, & BAFTA nomination but get snubbed for an Oscars.

This scene just has so many moments and ?s in it..... 0:26 0:34 Damn right, not every night had to be girls night. 0:56 I honestly couldn't agree more. with Ken here because in early 2000s or whenever they were married or were going to, then a few years Mattel divorces them, some years later Ken does a ton of. flattering contests and stuff finally winning Barbie over "for now" again by Mattel..... Why wasn't that ever property translated/adopted over into this movie? It's clear they belong together, but the ending decides otherwise. A lot of supporting characters to the brand deserve more identity as well because there are several during the credits that aren't as highly recognised as they should be. 2:05 I only want to say this 1 just kills me right there for Ken every time when Barbie tells him "Nope. You're not even beach.", because he sure seems to have it dialed in, needless to say regardless I believe he is. 2:09 The rest from here I struggle with to fully/properly understand, probably the way Ken was struggling, as when he starts all "Ken, is..... Me?" and even during/after as he's found/finding himself. Like, I'm just a bit thrown off what exact aspects is he searching for or thinks he's finding/found? It's still very much identity, sure. But isn't it more what (aspects, qualities, traits and such) defines said identity?
