If the Grumps can see this, and you’re planning another episode, if you’re in check, you can still shoot a piece to get out of it, there are just two shield icons by your ammo count that kinda protect you from doing it by accident If your aim is true, it can save runs by just picking off the king, even if he’s one space away

Why do I want a whole series of this? This is so interesting and well thought out! Took me a while to understand the damage rules, but dang if this doesn't feel like a simple-to-understand, difficult-to-master awesome experience of a game.

It's even funnier given that Arin refuses to learn the rules of pieces until the game tells him what he can't do.

Might I recommend FPS Chess, it's exactly what it sounds like and I love it, a 1v1 game of chess where battles are determined by your gamer skill.

So just as some information for people who aren't familiar with this game, there are a couple rules that aren't immediately obvious. The first one is the shields by your ammunition, those Shields will protect you two times from doing a move that would leave you vulnerable to being captured on your opponent's turn, however you can choose to ignore those if you believe that shooting will kill the piece that would have killed you. As we saw at the very beginning of this episode however, this will not protect you if you killing a piece is what put you into jeopardy in the first place. The other thing I figured I would bring up feels like it should be somewhat obvious but I've seen multiple people now not realize it: on the left side of the screen when you aren't moused over an enemy piece you can see your stats, which includes how much damage you deal on average, your effective range, your firing arc, and other miscellaneous things that get added to your shots. Trying to fire at enemies outside of your effective range will greatly reduce how much damage you deal.

I'm not clear on what the shields are for. Sometimes, it's "you can't do that, because you're in check!", and sometimes it just let's you lose. Compare 21:52 to 23:52. The first one just kills him even though he has both shields, the second one eats a shield and says "you can't do that".
