You have the most beautiful calves I ever seen at one place. Great weights and awesome momma cows. Dillion seems like he’s a great help. Making another great cattleman. That cow jumping the partition was crazy. Love the video. God bless you all.

Love your set up. We have a cow/ calf operation in northern Alberta and starting calving March 1. Your channel is great because it’s real life. We go though the same situations. We have a heated barn with 9 pens but we clean it everyday with a pitch fork and wheel barrel. Keeps the wife in shape😊

Nice looking bull calf for Jackson. Love to see the calves romping in the barn. Darn cold, but you’re keeping the bedding up nice. Remember the snow storms last year..shishhh. Take care.

Kendal , for just being involved with cows for less than 10 years , you and your family have a very strong knowledge of most aspects of feeding , caring-for , calving season , etc !! You are spot-on with the comment ; amount of exercise having an influence on ease of calving , and how many need to be pulled during the birthing. A good friend of my dad's ( A good farmer ! ) Mr Wynne just a bit east of your farm , back in the day , had a bit more trouble than he thought he should be having , calving season. Forget if it was Neighbor Ernie , Dad , or the vet that explained to him , cows kept inside the barn over the winter , and too well fed , but mostly not enough exercise was the root cause of a difficult calving . He learned , changed strategy ; more exercise , mostly outdoors in a bigger pen the following year , and bingo , easy calving !! You have a strong team , Rob has strong "cattle skills" and Peter is a natural with the cattle! Wishing you all the best for the 2023 farming season !!

Thanks, I appreciate it. We learned a lot from asking neighbors and then trying to figure out what would work best for us. Seems like there are always ways to improve.

i am definitely enjoying your videos. the animals look great so, well done! keep videotaping--it'll take some time but you'll sooner or later get plenty of views. I would suggest you include more footage of the people that you work with: they're all attractive, interesting, varied guys/gals and they can only add to your already appealing, interesting, and entertaining videos. keep up the good work!

Located here in central Missouri USA, am also a cow calf producer(angus)and am calving now . Temps here are 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit rains once a week. Really respect how your farm operates and am looking to build a calving barn similar to yours. Good luck with rest of calving in your crazy weather. Cheers from Hamill angus

Hey, thank you. If you are building a biotech/canvas barn on pony walls. I would advise making pony walls 6 feet above ground. Good luck with calving as well

Good job with all the new calves. Keeps you busy, that's for sure. But I'm sure it's satisfying seeing them healthy and growing. Enjoyed your video.

My grandmother used to say " Marzo e' pazzo " ( an Italian saying...March is crazy ) Hope is going to be a good month for you! Glad the barn is getting fooler, all the animals look healthy! You guys are working hard, all those calves been born. God bless I owe you an apology, comment on last video about a man door.... I see you have one, guess never seen the other end of barn.

No apology needed, lol I made the man door out of heavy steel to survive cattle walking through. It's heavy to open. The roll up door is actually very easy.

We went from Feb calving to spring calving to get away from cold & then to early summer calving to get away from the mud & are now back to Feb calving to get away from the flies. I’ll deal with cold any day over flies & mud.

That's good to hear. That's how we feel... but have only done winter calving due to seeding season being so busy.

I have heard that if a cow has twins like a bull and a heifer that the heifer can not have her own calf and the bull is no good for breeding too do you know anything about that. or is it just nosense? just wondering.
@TwinElmFarms
@TwinElmFarms Жыл бұрын
The heifer calf is called a freemartin, and their is a high chance she can not reproduce. The bull calf is still ok.
