IT'S HERE! BMW M8 Competition Collection Day

Күн бұрынIt is FINALLY time to collect the BMW M8 Competition! It's been a long wait, but how better than to head to M Town with my friend GerCollector in his M4 GTS to collect the Oxford Green M8 Coupe, joined by Markus Flasch, CEO of BMW M. There are many miles ahead for the new arrival, and you can bet they are going to be great miles!
Kicking off from GerCollector's amazing garage, we are surrounded by the likes of the F82 M4 GTS, the E92 M3 GTS, iconic Z8 and even a super-rare E90 M3 CRT of which they only made 67. For today's outing, the M4 GTS is the car of choice, an iconic machine to head to the very home and heart of BMW M, affectionately known as M Town.
On arrival at the M Studio, the hall is filled with some amazing examples of BMW M cars, from the M8s to the new M2 CS, and some demonstrations of BMW Individual colours, options and personalisation that can be completed. It's here though lying in wait that we find the newest Shmeemobile, the BMW M8 Competition Coupe.
Finished in Oxford Green, a colour chosen as it had featured on the previous 8 Series of the 1990s, and complemented by a Silverstone interior finished with carbon fibre trim, the upgraded wheels and a host of technology, the car is absolutely stunning. It's powered by a 4.4l TwinPower Turbo V8 making 625hp, combined with the M xDrive system that I got to know and enjoy with the M5 before.
To top off an amazing opportunity to visit the M Studio, I'm also lucky to be joined by Markus Flasch, BMW M CEO, who had very kindly had a personalised Shmee150 cup-holder cover produced for the central console. The car dealers in Dubai offer a very limited customization options !! To get it in such special color , you need to wait for at least 6 month !! and pay extra gazzillions of Dollars !!!

Not really a Classic I don’t think so, I saw one in person, love the car front is simply amazing but the rear is how shall I say.....over designed if that makes sense too much “tuner” looking.

@@scuderia747bhp it is not over designed. The lines are not as angular as some of the other BMW models. So far there are only two generations of the 8 series which makes them exceptionally rare

They are completely different cars. Continental is amazingly comfortable. And it also available with v12, so smoother power delivery too. M8 is more like a sports car with comfort. Both of them are amazing but Continental is more amazing. It can deliver same(or even better on straights) performance as M8 but much more comfortable ride as well.

That might be the reason, why it is registered in Munich instead of Frankfurt, where his main german location is (if i remember correctly) edit: there's nothing wrong with that, btw. Many youtubers and car journalists get loaners. I think it doesn't suit his collection though. Compared to the GTC4 Lusso the M8 is a rather boring GT.

GerCollector has such awesome BMW vehicles. Anyone else just love German cars? Audi BMW Mercedes and Porche are my favorite manufacturers. JDM, as well as the British brands and also the racy Italian cars are beyond epic, but for me, it's always been the German cars! Congrats on yet another awesome acquisition Shmee! Man, I've always loved BRG, but since I had a 93 Lexus LS400 in Black Jade Pearl, I have been absolutely in love with the color shades of green. I love this paint color you've gotten for this one, Tim! And the interior on that M8 is ::chef's kiss:: That truly looks like a comfortable luxury sports coupé.

I said that it's probably a long term loaner because of the fact that Shmee hasn't talked about the number plate he's putting on it, which he usually unveils when collecting a new car. Also, the car is left hand drive and not a right hand drive. Left hand drive is the norm in Germany.

Now here's some VIP treatment to get the head of M to come in on a Saturday and give delivery of your car at the M showroom rather than the normal Zentrum building. I guess a major KZfaq influencer gets preferred treatment from BMW as well as McLaren. Its a great looking car in the green. I has a 540i in a similar color years ago.

I think it's a long term loaner because Shmee hasn't talked about what number plate he is putting on it and also the fact that it's a left hand drive car, which is the norm in Germany.

I think they went to Germany to sell their apartment so I don't know how it would stay?

It'll stay 'based' in Germany but for sure at some point it'll visit to London. Most of the time under normal circumstances I fly back and forth so it's good to have a car that's always here and the M8 really is the ultimate way to get around the German Autobahns taking on long stretches with ease and comfort

@@beluga9042 he said for legal reasons. I took it to possibly be that he had to be resident in the flat for a minimum amount of time per year as part of the leasehold. Some places have those rules to prevent speculators buying them up and just leaving them unoccupied until prices go up....which of course raises prices in of itself. I don't see how he'd need to go there to sell it. Just instruct an agent and hire someone to empty the flat of personal possessions
