Alright so I really started practicing and using your videos as help. I sadly would never be able to get a live lesson so the videos had to do. But finally with your videos I FINALLY broke 90 and shot an 88 today. Just want to thank you guys for your videos. Now on to breaking 80

Good video, thank you. My short game is quite good but I still found your video helpful. I think the key point for me was seeing the shaft lean still through the shot. Nice one guys !

Great lesson as always. The course looks so beautiful and tranquil too!

Good lesson. Our greens are usually pretty firm and very fast. Even high wedge shots to the green leave small, if any ball marks.

This video highlights the importance to know the rollouts of your clubs. Maybe memorizing the rule of 12 isn't the way to go but the rollout ratios for 5i to 56 degree. Now when I plan my shot from within 100 yards it's so much easier then being forced to use a pitch and lob shots. Bump runs are much more forgiving and easy to repeat in varying course conditions.

Like the concept of Spin Loft - helps to clarify some things I have been working with the short game.

It's so important to know especially if you use a 60 degree. You will need more shaft lean.

I get a lot of backspin on my irons, partly due to soft greens as I see the huge pitch mark in front of the ball. I usually use a 56 wedge around the green which I think is enough for most shots... Slight forward lean and soft hands..

Already knew all this , but well presented - Having backspin is mostly due to equipment. When I first bought my Taylormade MG2 wedges I could make the ball stop from even 15 yards . A few months ( and rounds ) later it just doesn't have the same bite anymore but i'm not gonna go out and buy new wedges every season ..

@@meandmygolf. - Thanks guys. I will definitely advise you of the results, good or bad. I'm nervous about getting back, but your instruction on all your videos that I've seen have helped take the edge off. We'll see how that translates into scores in a week or so.

Hitting a shot in the rough you dont get the compression on the ball. This is another reason you dont get spin out of the ruff. Is this correct?

Do you play this shot the same way in desert golf? I have had many shots same distance but get a much less consistent result. (and seem to be on the desert more than I should)

Why 55 degrees spin loft? Is this from Trackman or Flightscope research data? Thanks

Yes great data from a good few sources. This spin loft is around the optimum.

0:59 C'mon guys, I enjoy your channel and appreciate your teachings, but soft golf balls do NOT help create friction, and soft, low compression golf balls do NOT spin more than hard, high compression balls. The highest spinning golf balls are always the hard balls with high compression values. TM TP5 and TP5x are both in the high 80s and low 90s for compression, and both balls are hard, high compression golf balls with high spin for wedges (with TP5 being a little higher spinning than TP5x by design). Both robot and human testing has shown that the highest spinning golf balls have compression values in the high 90s and low 100s and that truly soft, low compression golf balls with compression values (e.g. in about the low 70s or less) do not create more friction and do not spin more than harder, higher compression balls. You guys have a lot of followers, and getting the basics correct about stuff like this is important.

so all hypothetical here as I'm not good / consistent enough to know my numbers.... Say I have a 56degree wedge, present that loft with an angle of attack thats -5 totalling 61 degrees difference, should I not just use my 50 degree wedge as normal with the -5 angle of attack to get that magic number instead of using the 56 with 6 degrees of shaft lean?

Good video, but some misinformation. "You are not going to get any backspin whatsoever" is not true, every golf shot has backspin apart from a topped shot or a putt. Mud on the face has very little effect, sand may actually increase spin. Metal type has little or no effect, cavity back has very little effect. Club head speed has a massive effect, I don't think you mentioned it. Of course, some of us don't want the ball to stop, we want it to keep going!🙂

Dont need the science lessons of what ball and which groove keep it simple or is this for pros only, wont subscribe, prefer Simply golf, He is more for the average golfer and not as boring.
