When you were describing the fresh taste of that cherry tomato, it reminded me of when I was a kid and I worked the garden with my dad. Nothing...and I mean NOTHING, tastes better than fresh vegetables right out of the ground. Dad gardened as a hobby and I gardened because he told me to :) But when he was a kid during the depression, his family gardened because if they didn't, they would have starved to death. I think it gave him a lot of joy to see me at 10 years old, whip out my pocket knife and go to town on a juicy cucumber right there in the garden, knowing full well that I didn't have to save any back to help feed the family. He was always right there beside me with his pocket knife chowing down too. I miss him every day but I know how to grow a nice garden, thanks to him!

Hey Jessie, I have an idea about your safety gear and the Ridge vent. Since you're losing your tie off at the peak why not run 2 lines down from your harness, one each side of the roof, and tie them off with only enough slack for you to fall a few feet either way before the opposing rope stops your fall. As long as you keep the slack short enough you won't be gaining any momentum, nor will you be hanging off a side spinning like a Piñata... Just a thought! 🎬📽️😉👍🇺🇸😎

Just a tip, when you glue something and are waiting on cure time if you use a dab of hot glue just to get an instant stick. Then you don’t have to worry about it separating before your adhesive cures.

Every time you add to the house it so much better. I'm always excited to see your videos. Seeing you harvest the garden is really exciting too. Cauliflower mash is great. Cook with a clove or two of garlic till soft then puree it with a stick of butter, some salt and pepper and some optional cream cheese. Add other spices you like as well. It will last about a week and half refrigerated or put in zip lock bags and freeze indefinitely. Yum!

Well done guys! A wonderful job in the garden.Reaping the fruits of your labor. It is such a great feeling to get all the ripened fruits and vegies. I love the roof great job. Love the color to. There is no way that roof is going to leak after all the hard work you have taken in putting the right steps into insuring it is dry and glued screwed. All the prep will last you for years to come. "Come on guys give yourselves a pat on the back". If I could reach over from Australia to give you a pat I would and a big Hug. Thank you Alysa for getting these videos out Im really enjoying them. God bless to both of you. xx

You did good.😊 I Lol at Jesse’s remark to that stink bug. I could just hear it turn around and say, “Oh yes! Thank you. Toilet paper would be great! I know your done now, but you could use a pop rivet to connect the cladding to the ridge. Also pop rivet to tie down the cladding at the overlap. You would have to drill a hole to allow the rivet backing to rest into. That might even help hold it to the ridge. What ever, you did good. It's all a matter of figuring out how to work with sheet medal.

Regarding accessing the roof ridge to install the ridge caps, saw a great KZfaq video where 3 guys were using a device that straddles the standing seams and clamps onto it, giving you a 300 lb. rated work platform about 3 feet wide. With a few of them you could frog-hop them across the top of the roof from one end to the other. Another pair of them might also provide a hitching point for your safety rope. Love watching you guys work.

You can leave your root veggies in the ground until it frosts, then you need to pull, wash and let them dry off, especially the onions. All of them should be pulled when the tops die back if it happens before frost. If the onions get to a size you want, you can push the tops over and let the tops dry. Do replant onions once you have pulled. They can begin to rot. At the very least they will grow more layers on the outside and the onion on the inside can turn black with mold. Cherry tomatoes are always best right from the vine. :) Great garden for it being planted so late this year. :) Great job on everything guys!

Of course cauliflower cheese! But you can make cauli steaks. Cut the two sides off, leaving a thick slice from the centre having most of the stalk to hold it together. Fry in your favourite frying media until nice and caramelised. The bits you cut off can be blitzed and you have cauli rice or cauli couscous. Use as you would either - great low carb alternative which happens to be very tasty. Or used for cauli cheese. Those two are a bit over ready, if you fold the leaves over the curd, they stay tighter and whiter. Some varieties hold in the field longer. Well done growing them so well, they are considered slightly tricky, but maybe your conditions are better than mine. I'm at Lat N52+.

Hey, Not sure how far along you are. But if you still have access to the roof, think about taking some clear caulk to those exposed screws. It'll prevent water infiltration behind the screw. Also, if the fascia panels are still loose, look into squirting a little construction adhesive behind them.
