Now as an adult I can completely relate! I have always been fascinated by those kinds of studies, ever since I was a kid I can remember having dreams or memories that weren't mine. I too have always wanted to hear about my past lives due to the fact that I've always been very attracted to certain time periods of certain eras. I have dreams about time periods from well before I was born and will see people in my dreams that I have never met before and will then recognize that same person in a grocery store or something. My daughter attends a public arts charter school (no tuition; you get in by audition). She finished kinder and is our oldest child. They wear uniforms, but they send a weekly attire schedule because various days they have to come in the gym (PE) uniform, dance uniform, or the regular uniform. There is no rhyme or reason to what they are wearing so it's not like every Wednesday is dance. And then you have to pack their regular uniform to change into. On Fridays they have an optional "Spirit" uniform, which is a special T-shirt and jeans. They can't wear jeans the rest of the week. Randomly they do "free dress" days if you bring in a pack of paper or some other school supply. Once they told us the wrong day and some kids didn't get to participate because they wouldn't allow free dress the next day for the kids who missed it. They also sell special shirts for the school-wide walkathon and field day. Also every 6 weeks they do early release at noon. I am a scatterbrain and can't begin to tell you how stressful this schedule was and how many times we screwed up. We looked into transferring her to a local school because of how much of a pain it is. (They have similarly annoying homework and reading logs that are due every week and way too many educational apps they're supposed to log into from home. Yes, kindergarten!) You get a 6-week grace period at the beginning of the year regarding attire, but they still send home written warnings. Three warnings and the child gets a silent lunch detention...yes, even in kindergarten! Also she's vegetarian and they hardly ever offered vegetarian lunches, so I also had to pack almost every day. My son is allergic to dairy, so I'm guessing we'll be packing for him a LOT. He can't even participate in pizza day.
