I have a 5D Classic and was thinking about buying a 1Ds2. Thank you for your thoughts and comparisons. Now I have already changed my mind about buying 1Ds2. Thanks for making this video! You helped me in my choice.

You should be happy with your upgrade. The 1Ds MkII has better color fidelity than the 5D and its apparent in your very nice samples, the colors look very natural and balanced.

I was able to update the firmware on my 1DS II using a file on the CF card, did not need Firewire & old mac. Now it accepts 32GB SD cards. Happy to discuss over PM.

I have a 1ds MK2 as my daily driver. Fantastic camera, colours are incredible wouldnt swap it fot anything but a modern 1dx, i purchased a sony A7 full frame. I was seriously underwhelmed. 1DS is so much better in every way except weight

I have the 5D Classic with the portrait mount. I enjoy the feel of the controls, the shutter release sound as well as the colours. I recently picked up a D2X with 2 working batteries and the charger for $200 cdn which is fun to shoot with as well.Harmonica piece is a first for me. Thanks for your review

Thanks for making this video! Interestingly I didn't get any of the problems mentioned. I use vintage pre-ai Nikkors with a focus confirmation chip and it works very well! Also owning both the 5D and 1ds II, I actually have a preference for the 1ds as it creates some sort of smoothness, especially when shooting portrait. Both are great though

@@too_many_cameras they say the 1ds original and the 1ds mark iii are the best in color science. 1d mark ii also good, a friend loves his

I had both the 5D, 5D2, 1D, 1Ds, and 1Ds2. Out of the bunch I think the most magical as far as the image is concerned was the 1D. It had the amazing CCD sensor. So good. Best colors. But only low ISO. 1Ds was also good, but different. 1Ds2 was a workhorse for me for many years. I sadly sold it to get a 7D for filming, but it was a big mistake.

FYI, you are wrong! The Sensor is CMOS, *not* CCD here. Canon was *very* early with creating their very own CMOS Sensors, think EOS D30 (2000) not to shuffle with the 2006 EOS 30D.

@@marcp.1752 from all sources it seems 1D had CCD. Other fun facts about it were that because of it it was able to pull off 1/16000s exposure time and also it was welded from two separate sensors, so the noise profile between the left and the right part of the image was different.

I meant clearly the 1Ds, 1Ds II here. And it doesn't have a CCD Sensor. No hard feelings.@@sensitivehedonist

Interesting video and images. I liked the train with movement and moody forest shots. For adapting old manual lenses maybe you should try to cover the contacts with some tape. The error may be due to the metal from the adapter touching the contacts. Best wishes!

Might have to do that if i keep this camera. I have quite a big vintage lens collection right now and i'd like to use them all so DSLRs aren't the best for that. Due to flange distance issues and all that

Very true. I am looking for something that fits all the old glass and has a nice modern lens selection as well. I would prefer it to be FF. I kind of lean towards a rangefinder style of body. But I don't want to spend much, at least for now. Plus, I would like 2 cards and choices of RAW file output size, like my 5Dsr has. For many things 16 mpix is just fine. I still have my 5D's mark 1 and 2 a 6D and 30D - all fine for what I do. But I do use a g9 for real estate work. - and have other things as well. Best wishes! @@too_many_cameras
