Agreed that it is regularity in hitting the right spots that yields results. I have an old Chinese checkers board up on my wall...it was my grandmothers and we used to play it when we visited them.

Ah yes! I've often admired your Chinese Checkers game! Very cool it was your grandma's!!! I have my grandma's old Scrabble game. I played her once, and won! But then, after i inherited her game, with a bunch of high scoring score sheets in it, i saw that she let me win!!! 🤣😂🤣

As Tuco demonstrates all the time and has mentioned in a number of his videos, the key to successful vinyl record hunting is PERSISTENCE and going back to the same thrift stores on a regular basis (as well as garage sales, church or community rummage sales, antiques malls, etc.) to build up a great collection over time. It's a hobby and a passion that takes a lot of patience compared to just ordering records online, but finding some amazing treasures, discovering new artists and music, as well as having great conversations with fellow collectors make the thrill of the hunt worth it. :)

5:32 Thinking of Guy Lombardo from London, Ontario, Canada, I bought an original oil painting of him holding his bandleader baton. The Guy Lombardo Museum in London was shut down and all of the contents of the museum (gramophone record players, records, band jackets, etc.) were sold at a local auction house where I purchased the painting and it is an original (based on a famous photo of him) while there is a copy of the painting in the bar area of the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City where he and his band used to perform, especially for New Year's Eve galas while playing 'Auld Lang Syne' (the New Year's Eve song). And that was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much Guy Lombardo information that no one asked for or wanted to know. :)

Dude that green chair behind you at the end looks cool AF! Very retro! Love the color! That’s the kind of furniture I want to adorn my new listening room with! I feel like that Pioneer TT was a steal at $40! I need to replace my needle on my TT but I am so intimidated about it as I have no idea how to swap out a freaking stylist! Another really cool vid! 8:27 Oh, wow; a Fats Waller 78 rpm record set to the left of that crate. That's neat. I have several 78 rpm record sets with nicely illustrated covers like that (Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Lena Horne, Fletcher Henderson, Duke Ellington, etc.).
@VinylHunter
@VinylHunter Жыл бұрын
Yeah I've got a few too. But i stay from that more old-timey stuff because i rarely listen to them...and they're awkward to store.
@TorontoJon
@TorontoJon Жыл бұрын
@@VinylHunter, yeah, I love my 78's, but they are a rabbit hole and I don't listen to them that often compared to vinyl records, CD's, or albums on KZfaq. Plus, they are so fragile and even if one stores them safely, they can still develop microfractures over time since they just aren't as durable as vinyl records. Many years ago, when I had bought a floor-standing hand-crank gramophone (Empire), the elderly lady selling it included 73 records for free and I was newly obsessed with jazz at that time, so I bought a lot of jazz records from eBay sellers from the era when jazz musicians were still alive and with many of their best-remembered hit tunes by artists like Jelly Roll Morton, Bix Beiderbecke, Frankie Trumbauer, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Armstrong, Peggy Lee, Raymond Scott, etc. However, vinyl records are superior and are so much more fun to collect with their cool covers, stylish inner sleeves, etc.
@harryriles8609
@harryriles8609 Жыл бұрын
I collect alot of 78's but I usually don't get those sets. But I always look inside of them to see if there is something hiding in their that doesn't belong. I did one time find at a yard sale a Leadbelly set that is quite collectable and valuable. I'd say the name except it isn't acceptable these days. The set is called Sinful songs for _________. I started talking to the lady running the sale and talking about record collecting and she was impressed enough by my attitude towards records she just gave them to me. I tried to pay but she wouldn't accept anything.

Another fun ride along at the speed of 45. You did leave Jessie Collin Young. 2 albums before the Leo Kottke. He's great artist but you probably already have it. He's one of the originals from the Youngbloods from back in the 60's. I'm wondering what the most common thrift store record in America is? I've been to thrift store's from California Washington Texas Oregon Idaho Nebraska Virginia and even on vacation in Hawaii. Mostly Goodwills. My observation is maybe Firestone, Pavarotti, or maybe Arthur Fieldier and Boston Pops. I'm curious what you think since you hit a lot of stores.

Realistic and creepy!

@@VinylHunter Watched the trailer. The Indiana Jones bridge looks great. Tried out some of the videos of the full movie, but the picture quality seems bad across the board.
