Reparations in the form of compensation was paid using taxpayer money up until 2015 to the Bank of England. So it’s ok for the slave owners to be compensated by not the slaves?

I stopped contributing to the National Trust after I visited a property where they were peddling the lie that staff who worked in the house were slaves. In those days local poor people were happy to work up at the big house. It was a privilege. To get a family member a job there was life changing, they were well provided for. They were clothed, well fed and had a bed. They were a community. You can’t impose modern values on previous generations , times were totally different. Those poeple who work for the NT should get their facts right.

When have you ever seen a person in a burka traipsing around the countryside - might be a bit problematic all that fresh air, trees etc and only able to see where you are going through two slits. Also when have you seen black youths enjoying a day quietly fishing or hiking. The problem is that the countryside does not have mobile phone shops, sports shops and street corners which all appear to be very popular with that demographic.

I agree totally, and why should I, as a British citizen, pay even more tax and suffer more cut backs to the mostly failing public services, when none of my ancestors were slave owners or gained anything from the slave trade? (Almost all of my ancestors, including my father and two grandfathers, were tenant farmers who farmed in the Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire area).

@@Camille_Anderson The RNLI would be breaking international law if they didn’t help someone in difficulty but of course some people don’t care about international law, they don’t just save immigrants you know and with the summer season coming the RNLI will be necessary but of course you don’t go swimming. In the sea so it doesn’t matter

@@johnmcmahon5145The RNLI was never set up with the intention of "rescuing" phoney migrants, it's basically become a taxi service for them, many of the "rescues" aren't in any difficulties whatsoever! They need to refuse to pick them up.
