During divorce and child custody battles, I frequently see one party "blaming" the other party for everything. This is often times a way coping with the stressful events that are unfolding. By shifting the blame on to the other person, it gives us a false sense of comfort that it isn't our fault. The problem with this perspective is that if nothing is our fault, then we also have no control over the outcome, and hence our life/happiness is out of our hands. Join me in exploring why it is SO empowering to take "fault" when it comes to your divorce and child custody battle. Whether you are trying to figure out how to get full child custody or simply trying to get your shared child custody modified, I hope this video gives you the groundwork to begin taking back control of your life and your happiness. I understand that we have a certain amount of free agency, our own beliefs can limit eyes or get us stuck in a negative mindset. But after many years of therapy and PTSD oh, I've learned that sometimes it's okay to feel bad for a while and it's okay to feel like a victim. When I felt like I went above and beyond to do everything right, and perfect, and treating others including my own spouse with respect and that was not reciprocated. I feel perfectly fine with myself. If other people mistreat me egregiously, I should not be forced to have to believe that it was my decisions and my fault that led me there. Yes these feelings can be a little debilitating for a while, but it takes time mentally and even physically to recover. I feel like you're not taking into account the complexity of relationships and how our decisions affect how we get in them. There are also many pathological people out there who may seem perfectly normal at the outset but become dangerous monsters after they have you in their grip. I'm the Smart Ones know how to weasel their way into your life, or in a position of authority, without setting off any red flags.

If you're a victim of domestic violence and abuse, it is the other person. Many people leave a marriage because of this, so please be careful. And don't blame the victim. This abuse can turn up years into a relationship.

@misse7154 - I'm not blaming the victim whatsoever. But when you continue in the victim mindset, you continue to give your abuser power over you. The only way out is to take responsiblity for fixing the situation, regardless of who is to blame. So, it's best to help people learn how to get out of that victim mindset. Someone may have been a victim but they don't have to continue being one.

I think before you start dispensing this advice, you should ask your viewers to do some kind of self evaluation first so that they can make the conclusion themselves as to whether they should or should not feel like a victim.
