If you think Torsen differential is basically a limited slip, then you need to do you research before making the videos. Limited slip gives you sort of 4 wheel drive when you first buy the vehicle. After really using the feature several times the clutch backs are shot and you are back to an open differential. Torsen gives you true 4 wheel drive new and old and also lets you have enough differential function to make sharp turns wihout binding.

Finally the boys did it! Pound for pound, the Gladiator is the -gulp- better deal, but... The Raptor is the superior beast here (I called it in previous episodes). Both Ram and Ford are top-tier lux-offroaders, and the Raptor is proof that you do not need 700 hp. The Ram, as cool as it is, just looked like a wasteful $90k ...

That rubbing tire Ford is the reason why we watch and appreciate TFLOR and these tests. They reveal the weaknesses the manufactures doesn't tell us about.

One option for the Raptor that was not mentioned was the Recaro Seat package, which in my opinion takes the raptor's interior to a higher level, adding suede to the console lid and seats with blue stitching throughout the truck.

Love that you guys are comparing these two. And I absolutely love that the Raptor finally has something that beat it (hp wise). I’m a proud owner of a 2019 raptor supercrew amd have a custom bed that holds all of my Offroad equipment. I daily it and use it for all of my road trips so mpg is actually important to me. In my opinion, the Raptor just looks a lot better. It’s still the best looking truck. HP wise, I was never happy about having a v6. It sounds horrible. But up until recently, it was the fastest. I’m hoping that Ford releases a gt500 Raptor. I’ll buy that for sure. I don’t even need an Offroad truck since I use my 2020 can am x3 rs turbo re for off-roading now. But it’s nice to have one.

I love the color of the Raptor. That alone makes it a winner. I do wish it had a slightly nicer looking interior, but I don't want to pay that crazy Ram price for it. And with a 5 star tune, it will be dang near as fast as that TRX.

Great test but I want to see them desert driving! That’s the Raptors primary design aspect and it’s forte. How does the TRX stack up to that type of off roading. To me it all about suspension, HP and frame strength.

Id still rather have a 2020 Nissan titan pro4x. Middle ground price, rear locker, comfortable seats, still feels like a truck too

All vehicles are about what you want to compromise. Jeeps are designed to crawl and climb, but if you want to haul a quad runner and gear or run through the desert, the Raptor is the ticket. No one vehicle can do everything the best, and most of us cannot afford a different vehicle for each venue. Also, I have yet to see a Jeep that hauls and tows enough for a real work truck. I think each of those trucks are 100% good buys depending on what you value. The Gladiator is definitely the best overall off-roader. The Raptor is, at this point, basically is the slot below the TRX but is pretty much just as capable sans a few key metrics like top-speed and 0-60. I would imagine if Ram ever made a 392 TRX it would compete directly with the current Raptor. The TRX is pretty much the perfect blend of muscle car and off-road truck. So all that is to say that none of these trucks really compete directly. Really liking these type of comparisons though! I cannot wait to see more! Great job TFL crew!

That Gladiator is certainly NOT "like a little mountain sheep"! It's absolutely HUGE. The other two are HUMONGOUS. Yeah, I'm from Europe. Can't imagine driving those monstrosities here. They wouldn't fit even on offroad trails. "Mountain goats " like Suzuki Jimny, Daihatsu Terios or Lada Niva are all the car you'll ever need for offroad fun. And they're very capable.

I love Andre but he always seems like he's out of breath or on the edge of a nervous breakdown when he's in a stressful situation.

These two full size trucks weren't designed to do this. The Gladiator is and the real full-size designed to do this is the Powerwagon. It would have the "glorious V8 sound" a proper locking front diff, a disconnecting sway bar, even a winch and can be had cheaper than all three of these trucks. The only thing it doesn't have that these do is the added complexity of turbo or super chargers. Take these three down a fast un-maintained dirt road and tell us the differences. Which one is more stable, smoother , faster. Which one has more rattles, which one is more comfortable. That is what the full-size ones were designed for, the Gladiator in Mojave spec would compete better in that test.

The Raptor doesn't have the FCA problem that the Jeep and TRX have. Reliability 0/10. My uncle had a 2019 RAM that got lemon lawed for the transmission. The Transmission would not shift out of park and when it did it shifted extremely hard, the whole truck would shake like it wanted to flip over. They replaced the transmission, they replaced the gear selector, they replaced pretty much everything in the drive train except for the engine. The transmission finally failed when it randomly shifted down into first or second and grenaded the engine while doing ~60 mph on the highway. Then there were numerous other problems he had with the electrical, lighting and infotainment screen. He said it was the worst vehicle he had ever owned. It was in the shop for over 3 months that he owned it. FCA bought the truck back at full price after only owning it for ~9 months. He now drives a F-150 and hasn't had a single problem other than a recall.

What’s not to like? Off-roading, two men , two trucks we all win!

as someone who owns both a gladiator and raptor the raptor gets about 5-6 more miles per gallon. its absolutely ridiculous. the trx must get gallons per mile.

The Power Wagon would have been an awesome addition to this trio. Also... don't know where TFL is shopping if they're still finding marked up Raptors. I was seriously shopping for one back in April precisely because they were being advertised locally for under MSRP. Somewhere in the neighborhood of $5-6K off for loaded ones. I test drove one and left with the offer sheet.

Im a Ford Guy and I love that TRX. They really got the design down right...it looks awesome! But only the top 10% of the country can afford a new one. Unfortunately, I am not in that bracket....
