I completely agree, and I'm glad Josh is talking about this. Sadly I think his theory is 100% correct. I haven't played a format this skewed for the player going first before. It really feels like you cannot win unless your opponent bricks when you go second. I'm sure it's even worse for the TCG players too because Snake Eyes just has 3 Wanted, 3 Ash. Before you could pretty reasonably stop their turn with 2-3 hand traps, but the Fiendsmith cards are just way too efficient at extending past hand traps and demanding a hand trap if they start with them. Part of the problem is that everyone in the OCG main decks 2 Called By, 1 Crossout which means 1/3 of the games you just have 1 less hand trap, but honestly, I feel like 3 hand traps aren't even enough in most games even if they drew a stop. A breaker approach is also super dangerous. There's too much follow-up if you don't kill them and they could be on FTK technology post board making your breakers useless. Breakers were already questionable before Fiendsmith, but I think there was a brief period where certain breakers were really strong. In the OCG during LEDE format there was a time when a Snake Eyes deck with a full link package that ended on Pitknight, Heatsoul, Apo was popular and if you Change of Heart the Apo, you would obliterate them, but people aren't really playing those builds post Fiendsmith. I really don't think there's a very good solution for this format going second - or at least, I haven't figured it out over the last couple of months. Droll is going to be good in this format. Sometimes they start with Ash and you feel kinda goofy having droll, but it's really efficient when they start with Fiendsmith. It's also quite good vs Yubel which are probably the two best decks for this format (I think Snake Eyes should probably be quite a bit better than Yubel though). It'll be less good against other decks like Memento, but I don't really see why people would be playing those when there's full-power Fiendsmith Snake Eyes.

It's funny because the deck somehow gonna turn into Tier 1 again, and not because it got weaker, but there's another deck that's gonna be bonkers strong. It will turn into the Ruler VS Spellbook in a apocalyptic world

Droll and lockbird is really good with the new fiendsmith cards. If they start with fiendsmith it just ends their turn. It rose in popularity here in the ocg since many decks run fiendsmith cards

I think the best thing for the game would be to build archetypes to be able to play on turn 0 - maybe not the full thing but at least get some plays going. I think Labyrinth is a great example of how this can work excellently - they can interact on turn 0, but never to the point you complete stop your opponent. I feel this would reduce the impact of “going first is op” and somewhat counter the idea all decks have to play the same generic hand traps (still think they can/should play some, but the game would be far more interesting if decks had within archetype hand traps more often) If every deck had this the same way many have the field spell/normal summon search, or their own link that’s designed to bring everything together, i can see this being fairly fun and balanced At the very least it can’t be worse than what we have now (and to note, I think if 1 deck for this I can see it being ridiculous, I think this would work best if all decks get this kind of thing)

Snake eyes was already hard to board break. I mean there’s a reason that before InFo the meta was very hand trap focused, it’s easier to prevent ur opponent from building thier board then breaking it turn 2. The fiendsmith cards essentially fixes the hand trap weakness. Now snake eye is both highly resistant to hand traps AND board breakers. The format has turned into 50-50 coin flip simulator. You better pray to god you get to go first, and on the chance you end up going second pray that you draw 5 hand trap/board breakers cuz that is what’s gonna be necessary to have a chance at winning

How many tier 0 formats have we had in 2 years lol?

So anyone noticed how, ever since Tear 0 Format, a lot of Tier 0 formats have been popping up very frequently (Ishizu Tearlament Tier 0, Snake Eyes Tier 0, and now Fiendsmith Snake Eyes Tier 0 coming up next)? The last time I remember where we almost had a Tier 0 format was back in 2020 with the two Adamancipator Block Dragon and Eldlich formats, which was right after the end of MR4.

If Konami doesn't work things out quickly, I'm going to ask my locals for a gentlemen's agreement or, failing that, just quit the game for a long while. Diversity is Yugioh's best selling point (since no rotation), and if there's none of it, the game's just not worth playing anymore.

Fiendsmith engine is full of Secret rare, rarity distribution and rate of each box is rigged, banlist is delayed by a month. Yep, Konami just want to either steal TCG players’ money or want them to quit playing competitively and locally. Quite a suprising move by Konami 😂. I hecking love Yugioh man!

The thing i fear most is that the banlist cpuld potentially just do nothing and then we're stuck in this format for another 3 or 4 months.

Konami needs to follow the OCG's printing methods... Coz lets be honest, its ruining the game. TCG Konami prints high demanded cards at a higher rarity and because of this, they cant hit the problem cards when needed. They have to wait and respect the players that spent money on those packs or people wont spend as much money on packs in fear that the meta decks get hit quick Problem with this is that we get a new set every 20+ days... and the good cards are adding up. Snek eyes hasn't really been touched yet and a new set has already come out to strengthen it. This isn't the only problem, the whole prize pool complains from the players stems from the decks costing so much moneh to build, more than other games. And those games have cheaper meta decks, better card distribution AND bigger prize pools.

Just saw the Asia WCQ qualifier. The problem for now is the Will Smith cards. While yes snake eyes are also the problem but the top decks are iirc 3 yubel will smith 2 R ace will smith, the rest i forget but there was 1 Ritual Beast player

I think formats like these call for new hand traps and board breakers because the current stuff doesn’t cut it. Obviously a banlist should fix this but we definitely need some kinda board breaker that can stop Promethean Princess AND the snake eyes board

Honestly Mimighoul may be decent this format, at least for a TCG exclusive. My reasoning is that it’s a very grind game floodgate deck that can play shifter as well as have a kashtira lock style effect. It also just stops your opponent from summoning which is hilarious

To be honest, its the playerbase that lets Konami fuck with us. I wouldn t spend a penny in any Meta Deck, they get out shined by SnakeEye/Find smith anyway. The fact that Maxx C 2.0 must be printed to fix going second says alot about the Game right now. Where are so manny good alternatives Edison/Goat Format, hell i would also consider playing something else than Yu-Gi-Oh in a highcompatative Format like that. Yu-Gi-Oh was everything for me, its still is, but Guys/Girls be honest non of you wants to waist 100 even 1000 Dollars/Euros on paper that can be reprinted anyday/ or gets banned or just to get power creaped anyways so your forced to buy the new Cards. Be smart and find something healthy for yourselfs and you wallets. To me Yu-Gi-Oh had changed and thats good for whose who like it, but it has nothing to do with the Orginal Yu-Gi-Oh anymore. I feel like if you are not playing fiend smith snake eye, your best bet will be a shifter deck. Shifter is the only hand trap that I can think off that actually makes a dent into all snake eye combos. trouble is that most shifter decks suck. If someone discovers an actually good one, that might be a contender. Otherwise we cope and wait for the banlist to save us from tier 0 coinflip hell.

as someone who just recently came back to yugioh after a 20 ish year break, it's wild to me that a deck like gouki was ever meta. I made it as a pet deck in master duel because they made me think of power rangers but anime lol but I feel like if I ever took them into ranked it's just gg after the first ash or called by (or both)

People say wait a month (correct me where im wrong I loosely follow ygo) but hasnt it been months already and its projected to have powerful T0 cards in the coming months. Feels like this game is just T0 no?

meta decks with fiendsmith engine often only lose to maxx c and with those tcg exclusive cards you will need 3 or even 4 handtraps to try to prevent them from playing. And their boards are too solid for any boardbreakers to deal with so I think we will have a toxic tier 0 until the next banlist.

just saying, after game 1 when you know that you are going second with snake-eye fiendsmith, you could side in rollback and the virus that pops s/t, if you already have an access to ash then you could summon Beatrice and send those two cards in the grave to pop any spell in your opponent's hand to be safe even from boardbrakers

On Instagram konami put up a post that said they will see how info impacts the game and release a banlist but we'll see what happens maybe hit snake eyes while the new fiendsmith engine will go untouched because its a new product and they wanna sell the new cards.

Ok so here is my take. The problem is not fiendsmith or snake eye. The very fact that shifter is legal allows konami to print these cards in the first place and say just draw the out bro. Oh you didn't play a shifter deck well its a you problem. Shifter needs to be banned in order to argue that grave based decks should have their power level go down otherwise it doesn't make sense. Cards like kashtira unicorn, kashtira ogre and kashtira heart also need to be banned because they promote unhealthy game states in which you remove cards from opponent much like hand looping only it is MUCH MUCH WORSE because they remove cards that the player didn't had access to in the first place. After both kashtira as an archetype aside for fenrir, scareclaw and tear are banned alongside shifter then we can argue ok these decks are too good going first. These needs to be priority in terms of how big of a problem cards are and in the current format problems are kashtira can permanently remove cards, shifter is an auto win against %95 of all decks and there are a lot of floodgates that are available. After all these then we can address the go first power.

I blame this on players and nobody else if enough people actually had problems with these formats and decks konami wouldn't print them anymore, but they still are being made and nobody really does anything about it except few videos here and there but that does absolutely nothing to konami. Yeah every yugioh KZfaqr can make 50 videos on why x deck bad but what exactly does that accomplish when they themselves bought the cards as well.

Wouldn't it make sense to print at least 2-3 archetypes that match each other so we don't end up in a T0 format? This here sucks, cuz if you want to realistically have chance you have to play SE Fiendsmith. I feel like people are willing to spend a great ton of money to have fun. So you could just ensure that there are 2-3 viable decks with different archetypes (like TOSS format). This would also sell packs better because most competitive players will get all of those meta decks.. The sets will have more good high rarity cards and it actually makes sense to open a pack. Plus Konami would sell more packs in the end.. It's just a win / win situation I would say. The format is more diverse and more packs are sold (+ people actually consider opening packs again). Just be honest, if you are still in the game, you are willing to pay the price (as long as you are having fun lol)

Wonder when people will finally wise up and start building decks better. Flooding your deck with random widely useful handtraps isn't good enough anymore, siding for second isn't good enough anymore. We have to start building high risk specific hard counter answers like Ally of Justice Cycle Reader instead of generic low impact ones like D.D. Crow, and we have to go into matches already assuming we're playing for second or we're at a disadvantage. Going first is so incredibly easy that you don't have to make your decklist around it, its practically a free win if you just don't brick. Going second is the part that is a struggle, and there's an extremely high chance you'll have to do it twice in a match to win. Also, why don't people realize that Irae can have 3 negates if you just attach Requiem to it with the graveyard effect 😂 People need to have a massive overhaul in the way they approach this game.

Board breakers are garbage. You don't get to play against ftks and if you go against infernoid snake-eye, all of those board breakers go in the gy before you start.
