I feel dumb for being here. I have an older 18v dewalt. I've had it for at least 15 years. It still has the same blade in it because I use it very little. The wrench I must have lost. I tried using a vice grip on it. So the bolt turns when I have the lockdown, but it does not come loose. The lock I can tell is locked. The bolt turns very hard, but it does not loosen. I'm wondering if there is a slip clutch inside or if something is turning inside with the bolt that isn't supposed to......?
@ReluctantDIYers
@ReluctantDIYers 3 ай бұрын
Please do not feel dumb. I created this channel so we can all ask questions openly. There’s no shame or judgement here. 👍🏼👍🏼 If the blade is not turning but the bolt is, it sounds to me like there is an issue with the saw itself. If the blade has never been changed and the saw hasn’t been used often, there are many things that could be causing this. Something could be stuck due to lack of use or possible rust/oxidation if it has been stored in a humid environment. It’s tough to say what the cause is. It may be time to start looking for some tool sales and grab a new saw. 👍🏼

@ReluctantDIYers

@@molotov141 Assuming the blade is installed firmly, Don’t worry about the label scratching off. Sometimes the material you cut will cause this. My current blade is pretty scratched up also. I hope this helps!

@@ReluctantDIYers and sorry another question again the blade makes a little noise when i rotate with my hand is it normal or theres a problem it cut good the same making it when it stopped spinning a the end when braking
@ReluctantDIYers
@ReluctantDIYers Жыл бұрын
@@molotov141 It should not be making a lot of noise if you manually spin the blade. If the noise doesn’t sound right, get it checked out. During braking, my saw makes noise, but it’s a normal braking noise.

Did you remove the center diamond piece from the replacement blade? Or does it just directly fit?
@ReluctantDIYers
@ReluctantDIYers 8 ай бұрын
The replacement blade should fit directly on the saw once you remove the old blade. Just make sure you buy the right size blade for the saw. 👍🏼👍🏼

Is the saw blade supposed to rotate freely once tightened? or is it supposed to be hard to manually rotate?
@ReluctantDIYers
@ReluctantDIYers Жыл бұрын
It should not spin fast (by itself). If your saw has a break, it should not spin easily.

@ReluctantDIYers im a bit embarrassed to say i have used saws numerous times before, but i never replaced the blades up until i bought a new saw with no blade attached. I got it very tight, but when i tested it, the blade was barely turning. Then i loosened it up a bit, and when i tested it, the bladed wobbled. I then tried a semi-tight adjustment, and the bladed seemed to work how it should. My question now is, do these blades have a specific torque spec?
@ReluctantDIYers
@ReluctantDIYers Жыл бұрын
@@martinf1961 Please do not feel embarrassed. This is why I created this channel, so we can all ask our questions without fear of a negative reaction. None of my saws (I have a few) have a torque spec. When I change the blade, I really tighten that nut so the blade stays in place. If you test your saw after, it should work just fine. I hope this helps!
@martinf1961
@martinf1961 Жыл бұрын
@ReluctantDIYers in my case, when i tightened the blade as much as i could, the blade would not spin even when i had it plugged in. I bought a tacklife saw btw. I was aiming for a dewalt or a craftsman but my budget only allowed for this brand I'm not too familiar with.
