Hello everyone.
This is a problem that all beginner welders who are starting to learn welding have encountered at least once.
The downside of TIG welding is that it is vulnerable to dirty substances!
Therefore, it is best to always keep the area to be welded clean.
The same applies when welding stainless steel.
Today, we will introduce the differences between before and after cleaning when welding stainless steel lap joints.
Thank you for watching and have a great week.

About the colour of the material, if it does not have a big blue patina, is the weld hot enough to penetrate?
@brnmcc01
@brnmcc01 3 ай бұрын
No, the blue is simply the result of the material temperature after the gas coverage from the tig torch is gone. For example even if you have the right gas cup/lens setup, correct gas flow, and your travel speed is quick, the part you just welded might not have cooled enough as you move on to prevent a thin layer of oxide from forming. The thickness of the oxide layer determines the color, black and grey is extremely hot, a faint gold color or no color at all is the part is cooler after the shielding gas is gone. If you weld with a very high heat input, but have very good gas coverage and move slowly enough as well as adding an adequate amount of filler rod, the weld might not have any color at all, but will be very strong. In fact, some codes for welding stainless steel piping used for food production etc, any oxide layer will immediately fail inspection, but the weld might be just fine as far as strength.

I could be wrong but those kind of look like garden variety rubber gloves to me, not sure why he's welding with them to be honest. I'm probably wrong, but imo just buy gloves you like from a local welding shop or something.

I dont uknow what your trying to achieve by shaking your tig torch around .if that about creating the ripple effect then just be smooth with your torch movement but learn to feed your filler wire properly . In fact the only reason your amperage is up so high is because constantly having your filler wire dipped in the puddle sucks the heat out of the weld so your having to over compesate .
