IT'S TIME! Buying Our First Former NASCAR Race Car! (Former Busch Series Monte Carlo)

You may know we have been on the lookout for a former NASCAR race car for quite a while now. This is no show car though..we are going vintage short track racing! Come with me on a road trip to New England to get this former Gibbs car and check out the epic spot it happened to be hidden at!
We get it home and show you the initial tear down along with Randy LaJoie making a guest appearance for a seat measuring session. This car was driven by Bobby Labonte, Aric Almirola, Joey Logano (who won Busch East title in 07 with it), and Jeff Anton. The distinct twisted sister body is unfinished and you will get to see us tackle that with guidance from an "old timer" in a future video!

I didn't seek this car out for any particular history, I just wanted a good solid roller to go vintage short track racing with. We uncovered the cars history after I had already told Jeff I would buy it. Funny how some things work out isn't it? Check out the @stapleton42extra channel to see the car getting wrapped!

Question, can You do something like a shop list while You go? Like how much You spent in individual parts (no need to for exact prices, just rough gide what someone need to spend on something like that) I'm from Europe and we don't have a nascar in here so I'm wondering if You need to spend kind off similar money on club racing in here or more/less. Great videos, I think You one of few, if not the only channel I watched almost every video You posted. Thanks!

I love the Gen 4 cars, even the later Gen 4's that were "twisted sisters" with their wacky looking asymmetrical bodies. Those things tore up the intermediate tracks and made for some great racing. And despite the weird looks, they were still very sleek looking, sexy machines. The 3 generations of cars that followed them have all been ugly ducklings that I just can't warm up to.

Jeff Anton is a name I haven't heard in years! The East series came to my home track each year at Adirondack Speedway, as a kid it was incredible to see thse guys each year. In 2007 I watched Logano win at Adirondack in the last corner. If that car used to be Joey's short track car, there may be a possibility it has a win at Adirondack on it! Very cool video!

In 2012, I purchased a motor home from a dealer here in South jersey. I knew the owner of the dealership from street racing in the 80's & he eventually raced ARCA. So when I was closing the deal, he asked if I'd help him off load a race car he bought. He opened the trailer & there sat a blue & silver Ford . I said "why does this car look familiar?" Turns out it was the CitiFinancial car that Carl Edwards raced & won at Montreal road course. It was so cool to touch that car!

It will awesome to see all the work that goes into getting an old Busch car ready to do what is was born to do: race!! Not sitting and wasting away!! Well I am sure that I have established once before that your video on Randy LaJoie from his business is what tip me over to preferring his racing seats over other racing seats such as butlerbuilt seats. (See just because I am older, doesn't mean I cannot be persuaded with the right presentation or argument on most things.)

Especially the emphasis on safety, which is an individual's responsibility alone. It most definitely goes along ways when it is not the regular sales pitch that is coming out of someone's mouth.

Thanks for sharing. You we’re getting close to my old neighborhood. Cambridge Massachusetts. Growing up at a short track was amazing. Norwood Area was my home track 1/4 mile asphalt track. It was Also home track for Bobbie Hamilton he raced late models 1960’s track closed in 1972.

Blaise Alexander is a set of dealerships right up the road from me. Blaise Jr raced and was a driver in arca and was killed in a wreck during a race. Our towns were definitely wanting him to make it to the big leagues and were hurt when he was killed. Can’t thank you enough for showing all this kind of stuff

Man I miss these old race cars. Racing was so much better than the IROC stuff we got going on now. Looked for the wrap video on the other channel, but didn't see it?? Great channel keep up the good work!!!!
