Danelle, use bird netting to cover the bed. We have lots of squirrels, birds and chipmunks in our yard and in order for me to keep them out of my sowed seeds beds, bird netting is a must. It's super simple, just lay the netting over the top(let it hang over a bit) and hold it in place with tall plant support stakes. You can adjust the netting as the seedlings grow, if needed. And then roll it up early spring and reuse for the next season. I've been doing this for years on my raised beds with success(and absolutely no accidental entanglements). Even the raccoons stay away from the netted beds! Thank you for this video. I really enjoyed the tutorial!

They will go in if it's to cold because trust me I was so stressed out lol I'd check on them in the morning and yup there alive! I gave them sugar water in a dropper it gives them a boost of energy. That's what Google says to do when you see a bee sleeping on the flower when it's cold out at nite! butterfm

It's been so weirdly warm, I'm wondering if the monarch was fooled into lingering too long and now hasn't been stunned by the chillier weather? I have to say that this has to be one of the warmest falls that I can remember.

Really looking forward to seeing the Cardinal ornaments, sounds interesting. I noticed I have some new blooms on 2 of my mop head Hydrangeas, I'm zone 7, but honestly they should bump us to 8. Also expecting a ton of rain, seems like we all are over the coming days. If you had time to search what may be going on with the Monarch, please do tell, I've had bees I think drunk on the Hummingbird feeder.

Ambush bugs! They’re camouflaged and hard to find but the eat our bees and butterflies by sucking them dry. They’re left dead sitting on the flowers. I started picking all the ambush bugs and putting them into a bucket of soapy water with the Japanese beetles. It’s heartbreaking!

Hi Denise! I usually do most of my cleanup in the spring, but I do cut down anything diseased or that could harbor disease in the fall. That is part of my pollinator certification requirement-to leave as much of the garden cleanup for spring as possible. I cut my catmint back in the spring. But it is very tough and forgiving. If you prefer to cut it back now it will be no problem. I hope that helps!

Hi Cynthia! I purchase a mother plant from a local nursery in late spring. Then I take cuttings to create more plants. They usually don't look like much that time of year, but here in 6b they need the whole growing season to flower. When we lived at our old house I did lose them once to an early frost. I'm hoping those from colder zones can share their experiences, and if they are able to bring them to flower in a shorter growing season.
