Thank you for being so open Michelle! I have struggled with going on back and forth about what I want to do for me with birth control. This is my first year married and its just been one of the hardest decisions for me. I've also read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and I recommend it to every girl because I think it is just so important to know how your cycle/hormones work! I look up to you so much and I really appreciate you sharing your journey with us in so many areas of your life!❤

Highly recommend to check out the book "In the Flo" by Alisa Vitti - as this is what convinced me to get off hormonal birth control in 2020 when I had been on it for 6 years I think?!. I had horrendous mood swings. I then got a copper IUD which did hurt a lot for a few months but it has somewhat settled now although it has my period longer and heavier unforch. I do think the fertility awareness method can be good, I 100% know when I am ovulating now, but definitely wanna be ok with the fact that you mayyyy get pregnant if it's your only form of contraception. But anyways I think since you said you have painful periods the book in the flo can teach you how to do the right diet, exercise, work activities etc. for different cycle phases to manage your hormones well.

Thank your for sharing and being so honest! I got of hormonal birth control two years ago after taking it for about 9 year. It took my body quite a while to finally be in balance again. After 3 months I got my first real period and then my cycles were up to 60 days long. My hair and skin got more oily and that was the only part I didn't like about coming off. But I know it would get better and that helped me through those and I knew this was the only way to fully experience my real cycle. Thankfully my periods didn't get worse. And now, 2 years later, everything feels fine and I'm happy about the decision I made.

Wishing you well on your journey Michelle!! Warning ⚠️ for those with endometriosis (very common all around the world) birth control not only helps most symptoms but actually preserves fertility which can be a problem for some later on. 1 in 10 women will have endometriosis and figuring out the best birth control for you can take away a lot of painful side effects!

Went off BC May 2021. My first two periods were so painful and then very bearable since those 2. I’ve always had pimples but I got A LOT of acne 4 months off the pill. It was the worst it has ever been. Went to a derm and unfortunately on a medication to clear it. 3 months in and it’s looking great but lots of scarring! So lots more to go. Point being, I’m sure you’ll hit some obstacles but they should improve esp if you are treating! Whether it’s cramp, heavy cycle, or acne! My mood changed drastically as well - for the better 😊

Love this! I too went off the pill in late Oct. 2021 and I wish I'd done it sooner. BC sparked a lot of my chronic issues and I can already feel a positive difference in feeling more "normal" and like myself being off of it. It's also so cool to learn about your body/cycle and be in tune with it. I also liked the pill while I was on it and it served me well, but I do wish I had only stayed on it for like 2-3 years instead of almost 7 years.

For those that want to be off hormonal birth control but don’t trust NFP (our can’t do it cause your cycle is irregular) don’t forget about the copper iud. Set it and forget it for 10 years! And you still get your natural cycle :) I got off BC about a year ago and got the copper iud and it’s been very smooth transition and I can track my natural cycle now

I’m struggling with balancing my hormones without hormonal birth control as well. I am on the copper iud and I really like it because no hormones but it has made my cycle way longer than normal which not many people have that symptom after 6 months. Hormones are one of the most confusing aspects as a female and really want to get a better handle with them. They are impacted by more than just what you eat/drink which makes it challenging to balance them.

I prefer less edited videos! Also I play the Sims 4 and i recreated you and Cash there XD I don't know if you think it's weird, I just find that game is a beautiful way to express our creativity 🥰

I got off of birth control about 4 years ago now and it was the best decision!! Hormonal birth control did not agree with me at all. I also had lots of problems with my period, but I fixed most things “naturally”!!! My doctor did not want me to go off because of my bad periods but I proved her wrong and fixed it myself. Something about controlling my body with pills just always made me feel so weird. Thanks for sharing your story!!

It's crazy how hormonal birth control affects everyone so differently. I was hospitalized due to it and had a ton of side effects. I've never had horrible cycles, so hormones were bad for me. I was on the copper IUD for about a year and my menstrual cup sucked it out, I really liked that form of birth control. Now I'm currently using the Caya diaphragm and highly recommend it. There are no hormones, but you have to be comfortable with your body. I wish you the best with your adjustment getting off of hormones.
