When my dad was still alive his favorite way to have salmon like that was with salt, pepper, old bay, and lemon slices baked in aluminum foil packets. I'm allergic to fish so I couldn't try it, but he loved it

Those power sides are great to put up for when someone in the family gets sick. Replaces the electrolytes.

Wow! What a haul. It's so sad that all this would go in the trash if people didn't come get it. The lettuce is probably Boston or butter. They make nice lettuce cups.

Yes you are correct, I was talking to the lady in front of me and we were discussing how much we receive at this one food bank and how if we didn’t come get it that not only would food be wasted but this particular church would lose its funding from the government. So many nice things were given out today. Ohhh I could make chicken salad and have it in lettuce cups. Thank you

Asian lettuce cups using ground chicken, turkey or pork might be a nice warm option. Oh and if I had all that broccoli I would be making some broccoli salad!

Great Haul Amber that powerade is so expensive my kids love it but we don't buy it unless I can get it at grocery outlet. Those white chocolate chips are expensive too and great quality.

The food bank decided to spoil us today with all the extra goodies. Those are some really nice baking chips. Thank you 😊

This is a small church that receives government funding for their food bank and when I say they receive a semi truck full of food…. It’s crazy how much stuff they will give out at times. Also I stay in a very small rural area. I wish everyone could get the same stuff I receive.

The one I go to relies on local donations. When I started going to it I was one of 10 families. Now 1 year later the same church provide food for over 200 families. It would be amazing if all states could receive government . 😊

I've seen cabbage steaks done. Cut in steak like sizes then drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper and maybe other stuff and bake in the oven. I didnt google it today but something to look up. Unstructured cabbage rolls as well.

If you have pesto, put it and a little butter on top of salmon. Can cook it air fryer or oven.

Great haul. When I went through they were giving cases of lemon lime sparkling water. I don’t drink it and I asked for the powerade but the guy said they had to give out the water first 😞.

You can dehydrate or freeze your celery for cooked foods.

Got 5 pounds of apples 🍎 for 2.99 and 8 pounds of orange 🍊 3.99 at grocery outlet today they also have 5 pounds carrots 🥕 for 3.99 got that last week

Great haul! I love celery! Cooked or raw I could much on it all day, the other day I made a huge pot of potato soup that takes celery bacon onion potatoes milk butter salt n pepper, mmmm good!

Wonderful haul, I like to take the cabbage, onions, carrots, potatoes season dot with butter. Mix in kielbasa or whatever meat you like. Cover and bake for apx 1 hour. Like all your cooking videos

This is the what I don’t like about watching these food bank hauls. Not every one does this. Taking things you don’t need or want or even like. Like the celery. If you give the fish to your dad that’s fine either way I’m happy you can use most of it.

I agree that watching these kinds of videos can be hard as you don’t really know someone and what their true needs and intentions are. However we as humans cannot judge a book by its cover and I appreciate how you responded and were very polite about it. This one particular food bank does not give us the options usually on yes or no if we want an item. I will utilize any and everything I can to feed my family and pass on to my father or others the very few items that I may not use. I can only speak for myself though.

I told another person that I would try a recipe that they are going to send my way and I will try it. I am going to try it with an open mind but I cannot promise that I will like it as my entire life I have only ever liked tuna from a can... Thank you I will keep everyone updated when I do try it.
