Awwwwww I wish I could give you all the views and likes! I keep imagining that Cleo took Grian because she had medicine and more experience then the bad boys with sick pepole. She wanted to take care of him in his time of need basically. She also knows that Scar has a soft spot for Grian. When the bad boys do go after Grian, Scar fights tooth and nail to try to keep him, all he wants is a relationship with Grian like the one they had in third life

Even in todays episode Grian INSTINCTIVELY SAID TO *JOEL* “Scar No-“ Instead of “Joel No-“ It’s such a habit for him 😂

Ok, I may be wrong, but it feels like Scar didn't really wanted to kill Grian specifically On the bridge, while everyone were panicking and yelling "Don't kill Grian!" Scar was just trying to kill everyone *but* Grian. He killed Jimmy, Pearl, tried to kill Scott, and only then he tried to kill Grian. If you think about it, he was only trying *specifically* to kill Grian when Jimmy and Martin were near him under the bridge. It's more like Scar was using him as a bait for killing the others (Grian in his video said that he was basically a bait, so…) (Joel said that Scar was trying to kill Jimmy, not Grian, but maybe it's just how it looked like from his perspective? I don't know) (Scar later apologized about the whole TNT thing when Cleo mentioned it and said that he just "got carried away") He also sounded a little…?nervous? when Cleo started the whole scene about "Scar, I hate to tell you this. He’s not coming back" I'm not sure if "nervous" is the right word, but i can't think of anything else Also, I loved the line when bad boys were taking Grian back home: "Hey what is going on down there?" "We're taking back our Grian!" "…Never. You never taking back Grian." And only then he kills them. He basically intended to kill THEM, not Grian, cause it doesn't make sense otherwise. Like…he says "you never taking back Grian" and then kills Grian himself? What? It goes seems more like he doesn't want them to take Grian away (like one of the comments here says), so he got angry when they tried. Also if he really wanted to kill Grian, why did he and Cleo kept him alive after they stole him? There would be no better chance to do so ( Well, it seems like Scar specifically wanted to make a trap, so I won't take that as an actual point, but still ) At the end of the session, he also did apologize to Grian, thinking that they all were here to see Grian and apologize for their wrongdoings this session So…did he consider killing Grian as a wrongdoing? He did say "I'm so sorry I killed you but I had to. It was the part of the moment. Things happen" (My native language isn't English, so I looked on the internet the meaning of "Things happen" and it tell me that it means *"Something that happens occurs or is done without being planned"*. I'm not sure if that's the only meaning, so I can't say anything else here) And about Cleo It DOES feels like she only was trying to take care of Grian (again, like one of the comments here says). That's my headcanon now too) When Pearl says "It looks like bad boys aren't really looking up for him right now" Cleo was like "They not-…" and then just sighs. She never really wanted to kill him either. She even said to Joel that if he needs help she can look after Grian And when Bad Boys found Grian she said "He's very safe, you weren't protecting him" And so, my conclusion about the whole dynamic of Scar/Grian relationship is that Scar *does* misses the times of Third Life and wants to spend time with Grian like they did before, but Grian…doesn't…really want it. And I know that a lot of people think that Grian is just a villain and he never cared about Scar or something like that, but I think he has his own problems too I'm not trying to say that Grian did nothing wrong (cause he clearly did do wrong), but it's just…He watched Scar die *at least* 6 times right in front of him and also indirectly/directly caused his death (I haven't watched "Last Life" yet, so I don't know if something happens there). In real life situation causing someone's *getting hurt* because of your action *several* times is a bit traumatizing, don't you think? Even if you're a horrible person, you would still feel a shade of guilt about it. When Grian said that he will be spending time with Scar in Double Life he added, "I've already done a series with him. First "Third Life". And…Well, we all know how that ended, so this time…We won't…There's no way we can…We either win together or we die together" And if you watched Grian's POV in Third Life, I think you can't deny the fact the Grian was truly upset about killing Scar. He wasn't pretending or anything. He didn’t even kill Scar when he betrayed him. He was mad, but immediately stopped when Scar said that Grian can kill him. There wasn't even a question about "Should I kill Scar?". No, he just replies, "What? No. I can't. I literally can't" and walks away from him. He suggests that they can both win, and I think if other people wouldn't start that "blood! fight!" think they would have maybe won together The next thing. What Grian said in Double Life when Scar died the second time? "Scar couldn't see. It's not his fault. *It was my fault for letting him go* ". And when Grian was killed by the warden, also causing Scar's death? "I’m so sorry, Scar. I don't know how to deal with the warden. Oh, it wasn't meant to be". It was *the first thing* he said. Like, c'mon? In this moment Grian wasn't trying to hurt Scar! He died himself, but still apologized to him. I can relate to this so much! When I did something bad to myself, the first thing that come to my mind was to text my friend and say "I'm sorry I did that, what should I do to fix it?". I didn't do anything to hurt them, but still felt terrible. I almost left my friend because after that I started to feel like all I was doing is making things worse for them! I doesn't wanted to be around so there would be no way I could hurt their feelings. God… Maybe I'm just projecting my own experience on Grian's character, but all I can see is that Grian pushing Scar away cause he doesn't want to cause his death again *For me* it's easy to read the situation in that way But of course I can't say if that's what Grian intended for his character So if I made any mistakes or there was something in Last Life that ruins the whole theory just tell me about it, I would like to think about this whole thing again I don't really know why I wrote all of this in the comments of the animatic, but I just couldn't stop myself from doing it And I also don't know where else to write it Despite everything, i still love Desert Duo. Even if there's *never* happening anything happy between them I really think they could have make things better if they just talk to each other honestly, but I don't think it's ever gonna happen

I love that you can see how grian isn't such a nice guy in the life series. the life series shows perfectly how his past trauma (yhs, evo etc) hardend him. he doesn't feel bad for people, if one person dies he can just move on. that's what he learned to do in yhs. I feel like a lot of people paint him as a soft guy that would be very upset, but I think that he would be able to move on quite easily. I also think that he wouldn't show to others if something affected him, maybe he is just turning everything of and that leads to him being mean to people so that they won't care if he dies? or he does it to kind of protect himself? what I mean is that he "manipulates" himself so that he doesn't care for the others as much, so that it doesn't hurt him as much yk? I love the video btw! great job :)

Honestly I think Grian would have been disappointed if Scar hadn't made a play for him.

WHY DO WE ALL MAKE SO MUCH ANGST

Intentional or not, I love how Scar's eyes looked wobbly, like he was trying not to cry at the end. That face is the face of trauma in every frame, lol... (The following anecdote is about Scar and Grian as fictional personas rather than the actual people, who were laughing their heads off with their cats the whole time.) Speaking of intentional or not, I find Desert Duo so. freaking. compelling. Because Grian (well, the fictional character, Grian as in the person playing Minecraf was probably having a jolly good time) was so stressed and angry throughout Double Life, much more affectionate and calm in Third Life. I'll admit I haven't yet watched all of Double Life but I've always seen Grian cheating with Bdubs (it was Bdubs right?) as a way to run away from all the stress and responsibility of being with Scar and finding some peace of mind and unadulterated fun. Like...Grian has watched Scar die so many times throughout the series, seeing the person you've been trying to keep alive die in front of you is probably traumatizing. A comment below put the whole self-blame thing ("It was my fault for letting him go") better than I ever could. But like...Scar is also a bit traumatized because Grian barely even cracked a smile in Double Life (see animatic "Worst Case Scenario"), Scar was honest to god afraid of him. Grian always worried about Scar, but I feel like there was a distinct difference in Third Life compared to Double Life. In Third Life, Grian DECIDED to go with Scar, and was seen worrying in a more loving way. Meanwhile in Double Life Grian just felt changed and, while the worry may even have stemmed from a good place, it just made him so angry, especially since they were soul bound and Grian would maybe would have instinctively be watching him closer, since they BOTH take damage. They're relationship is so doomed by the narrative. It was built on a foundation of guilt and internalized debt/obligation, and continued on a foundation of obligation afterward So yeah, those are my thoughts on the dysfunctional side of Desert Duo, love them so much, the actual Grian and Scar probably barely intended any of this, if they intended any of it at all, lmao :) fantastic animatic, you're a wonderful artist. A tumblr user directed me here, and you did not disappoint! When I read someone going on an anecdote about this scene I'd forgotten it and thought it was Scar saying he thought he'd be madder at Grian for cheating, but this is even better! ^Barely proofread any of that, have fun lmao
