Part of the reason some companies insist their employees return full-time to the office is because of people that use company time and resources for their side hustles. Some companies have caught their full-time employees engaging in contracting gigs in line with their 9-5.

I have a friend who is doing side gigs, doesn’t affect his main job at all. That guy is still a top performer in his company. He lives very comfortably financially

Who said you need one certificate?

@liferesetwithboni it was on one of the comments, I responded directly but felt like I should push it to a separate comment since the knowledge would be helpful for other aspiring solution architects. It's really difficult becoming a high end SA, the certificates are for show really, especially the AWS ones. vendors usually make certificates to promote their services rather than preparing a candidate for a specific job role. A practical example of this is comparing the architect philosophies among the big cloud companies, you will notice they conflict even though they are supposedly industry standards. The core essence of a solution architect is a sales man who understands how to sell designs to executives which ultimately produce a return in investment to your employer. The closest certificate to the architect role is TOGAF which is actually more enterprise architecture rather than SA oriented. My recommendation for the easiest path to SA, is to learn how to code, be part of big project deployments, learn DevOps and then learn the certificates like AWS or Azure. If you are young don't do certificates thinking its a direct path to the role (no dumps please!) rather do the certs to build your skills @liferesetwithboni I would be open a interview on the path to a solution architect if that something you would be interested in, I wont be able to share my salary package but I think I have some useful advise
