You likely have a rock shelf. Fill your holes with water then refill a couple times.

We ran the drain line on 1 mini split into a 275 gallon ICB tote and captured and filled it up almost 3 times. It was about 750 gallons of water we then used to water the garden. We're in Tucson, AZ....water is precious here!

Good idea on reusing the water. But how can you transport that much water all the way to the garden? Do you think it might be easier to drain it to the pond?

Consider building a pole barn like set up to help protect your outside unit for extreme sun, rain, snow, and ice. Just 4 poles and a slanted roof multiple inches taller than the unit will give you an extended life on your outside unit.

With all the projects you two knock out, you are entitled to a day that doesn’t go just right. You have accomplished so much so don’t beat yourselves up. Stop and look at that gorgeous piece of land and remember what it looked like when you bought it. Unbelievable what you have done there. You are amazing!

Jason just a suggestion..build something extra to go around you outside condenser. Keep out all things roaming around. I know You dont plan on your animals being around it. But wild rabbits and other wild animals could cause problems. Keep things from running into it.. Machines. Or other vehicles over judgement. Just to prevent any damage in future.

Be careful of letting them go in the woods. LHL Lester and Jami just lost a goat (Mr. Hunk). He was attracted once by a coyote and a pack of coyotes came back that night and killed him. 😢

I built fences in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan when I had a summer job while going to university. There was an area in the city where the clay was like concrete. We had a power auger that went down about 8 inches and it stopped. We soaked the holes and it sure helped. It still is a lot of work.

You got it, guys! Living Traditions have very rocky and hard ground and use a gas-powered unit for their posts. They tried the tractor technique when they bought the property but switched to the gas-powered driver and had much better success. Got my fingers and toes crossed it's all going to work out.

I watched my 80 year old grandad build fence once. He dug down a bit and filled the hole with water. He then went and took a nap in the shade. He got up after about a half an hour and dug down a little bit more and repeated the process. He only got 4 posts dug that day. But he never broke a sweat. My husband and his brother used a two man gas powered auger, and only got 5 posts dug in that same hard soil. They sweat like crazy and that auger beat them up something fierce. The next day they couldn't lift their arms, but grandad dug another 4 post holes ending each day as fresh as a daisy!

We run cattle on approximately 130 acres in Georgia with many oaks and have never had a problem in the 50+ years that we've been doing this.

How about planting some mature trees around the pasture and closer to the barn? Then you don't have to wait years & years for them to grow 29 or 30 feet. I'm sure the animals would love the shade. And it would look soooooo pretty 😊

Don't forget to leave room for gates into each pasture... we also use a post leveler to help with the straightness. It is going to be a huge job, but it is going to be an awesome area for your animals.

I wouldn't consider this a failure. You got some of the posts in and you have a plan in place to attempt to get the rest done. I'm sure by now they are already done and the panels are done too! You guys are an amazing team. Just be careful working outdoors in all that heat. Keep hydrated and keep cool.

No, the cows are rescues. No more. Mooman is a steer. Mildred probably isn't able to have babies and unless some other animal needs rescuing, the two cows are enough!

If everything was easy, anyone could it. I think y'all hit an area of caliche (dried hard clay) that's like soft rock but still really hard. I think your impact driver will get through it if it isn't too thick of a layer. We see a lot of it out west. Hopefully the boss lady wasn't too upset about the delay.

Such a disappointment for you to have ground so hard to get your t-posts in the ground. Glad you found a closer place rent. We just put in a polebarn and would like a split in it like your milking room. I love Mildred and Jesse she is so happy 😊 with you two. A good choice for her to you. Jason, when it comes to your cows, I think what it comes down to is everyone likes to see Mildred with the goats because this is what they’re used to so they’re going to tell you not to make the change, but you know yourself the best thing to try for Mildred is to move her over to her own kind. Like you said, if it doesn’t work out, you can always move her back, but people hate change even if it’s for the best. Lol

grew up on a farm with cows and definitely the cows did best when together in the same pasture. Even when we brought in new cattle they went straight to the herd pasture and all go along well. Best thing that could happen for Moo and Mildred is to bring them together.

For cattle, many cattlemen use wooden posts and string barbed wire using a wire puller. Back in my youth, I put in many a fence with a post hole digger, a bundle of barbed wire the puller and a hammer to jam the wire attachments around the wire into the posts, to string tight wire along the fence line, a totally manual operation. The summers were brutal, so this work started at dawn!

We have clay soil that is cement in summer, soft in rain season. Only way to soften it IS water but not a fast splash. Take a long drip hose or some of your drip tape and turn it on overnight or as long as it takes to get that moisture down 3 ft. That should solve the problem until you hit a boulder the size of a VW of course. Living Traditions swears by the gas powered driver so use that once you get the subsoil softened. Good luck! "I've been thinking" and "You're probably right" are the key phrases of this episode. As the name of the county here implies a bumper crop of rocks I can sympathize with you. To install a pipe as the mast for a T.V. antenna I used a hammer drill, a long bit and an extension. Grounding rods for electrical systems are put in sideways sometimes as there is just no frigging way to bury it straight in the ground when you live in the Ozarks. I will sit ready for expert tutelage in your next installation with baited breath my friends. I say expert because by that time you won't be perts anymore.😉👍

I feel your pain with the T posts. We live in the central valley in California. We have what they call "hard pan" underneath our soil. Depending on where you're at, it could be 6"-18" down. It's as hard as concrete! Good luck with the gas powered T post driver. Hopefully that works!

With the clay if you auger some, then in the evening fill that up with water, move to the next one, water the holes again after it seeps in some, repeat several times, and let it soak in over night it will be softer.

I learned that a mini-split is a viable option from watching your channel. Thank you. I was telling our neighbor about your tomatoes. We have a tough time growing tomatoes in Calgary, Alberta. Alabama is certainly a different climate. 😊

Calgary sounds like quite a challenge for tomatoes... or just about anything! 😅 We're in Northern New England but still... a lot of Jason's garden advice has helped us out. We used the Hoss heating pads to start our Red Snapper seeds.. and had the best starter plants ever. Cog Hill has been an awesome inspiration. 😊 🍅 🥒

My dad finally got tomatoes growing in Calgary but it took years to get the soil right and to find the proper place to plant them on their small lot. They lived in Kingsland. My parents farmed in Stavely area and they knew how to work wirh Calgary's crazy weather. I hope you weren't hit by that hail, my sister's garden was taken out completely.

it is not the bucks that make your milk goaty. usually it is just going bad. But it is also a sign that things are not right with the goat. Surprisingly feeding garlic will sweeten the milk. I have been keeping goats for about 20 years and my bucks are housed next to my does. Just makes handling easier. We are in Alaska so space most of the year is tight depending on the snow load. Garlic also helps with the worm load. I use minced or granulated just put it on the feed. Love your channel.

There used to be a thing called a "root feeder" for your trees. I found it to be useful as a water drill in the gumbo clay we call soil. You turn the hose on and start pushing the tool in. A power driver will definitely do it.

❤yall didnt have a wasted day! Yall still got things accomplished and yall handled it so well. Wgenever life throws you a curve ball you always handle it so eloquently. I admire that because Im not so restrained lol. Love seeing the animals and yall interacting with them. Im sure they are going to love the new pastures AND the barn and Moody and Mildred will love the Bovine Boudior. ❤

Sorry your day didn't go as planned. It was great that Peaches was so understanding, she's a tough boss but a fair one. I'm sure you guys will get the fencing issue figured out. I love how Brooke usually figures out a way to work smarter not harder, she makes a great farm wife. Brooke reninds me a lot of my farmer Uncle's wife Mary, that woman can do anything she sets her mind to on their farm and I've seen her outwork many a man. Thank you for your videos and live streams, I love them.❤
