This was the most infuriating moment in the entire show and the fact that they never addressed the conflict between Ezra and Sabine where he get's angry at her for letting Thrawn return. They absolutely ignored all this drama just so we can have a reunion where you feel nothing.

@@dereklopez9060 I wouldn't even have wanted MUCH drama - but Ezra asking if there was really no other way to reach him without also freeing Thrawn, Sabine saying no sorry there wasn't and him sighing deeply and deciding that they need to focus on Thrawn now. I felt bad for Thrawn. Raining hellfire on the heroes was honestly the best move he could have done. Yet these turbolasers that destroyed a building didn't even leave holes in the dirt. They should have incinerated the 3 Jedi. With the show so rigged against Thrawn, I don't even think less of him as victory is impossible.

@@billybob7135he could have left. He literally said in the recap "it doesn't matter if Sabine and Ezra are killed or stranded" and then a couple minutes in decided that instead of leaving, like he absolutely could've because he'd just been informed all the cargo was loaded, he would order a ground assault on their position (remember he believes they can't move at any speed). I do agree it was rigged against him, but he was also laughably incompetent.
@jamiemunn9200
@jamiemunn9200 9 ай бұрын
@@billybob7135 Alright, let's just say his ultimate goal was to delay them. The doors to the temple could have been mined, or sealed. There could have been a proper ambush waiting inside, preferably flanking. The doors leading up the stairs could have been sealed as well. It would take some time to lightsabre their way through multiple doors of multiple levels. And who knows if they are strong enough, it barely scratches the ST Armour, but this is a child's show. 👌 At the time of Ashokas assault the cargo was fully transported to the ring, and he could have just lifted the Star Destoryer and docked with the ring at a much higher altitude. He could have also in conjuction with any turbo lasers deployed additional fighters. (Knowing/assuming/OK script that her ship was damaged) Triangulation of firepower is absent from the barrage. He could have also used significant ordinance (if available) and just dropped it down. He could've had the Storm Troopers already turned and zombiefied, although I'm not sure as to much about the witch's magic. (And I think the concept is lame, just my opinion) Thrawn's writing is abysmal. The character legit just throws the minimum amount of anything in front of a situation and sees how it plays out. (Which in the long run, will exhaust your forces at a greater level)

I’m afraid that Dave Filoni has so sense for timing. Since episode 1 I had an issue that there was never a feeling of urgency during the whole series. Both heroes and villains are way too cool to ever rush or haste. They built up, that Admiral Thrawn is eager to leave this galaxy and will do so after loading the cargo. In the last episode 1:55 min Elsbeth says: „The cargo transfer is complete.“ Do they leave? No. Do they take off to connect with the Hyperspace Ring in the orbit? No! They hail the ring to get to the Star Destroyer … Wouldn‘t you do that earlier if you want to get away as soon as possible? Wasn’t Thrawn able to foresee when the cargo transfer would be complete, as a genius? More so if he knows, that his enemy has only the possibilities for a ground assault why stay at the ground? Even if connecting with the ring would only possible in atmosphere near the surface of the planet (which is stupid) why not choose a dinstant point too far away to arrive in time riding a horsewolf? Admiral Thrawn feels no need to hurry up or defend wisely. He just stays and wastes troopers and Elsbeth „to buy time“. Thrawns order for take off comes in 26:15 min. The episode has 43 min without end credits. 24:25 min between „cargo complete“ and „take off“ is more than half of this episode‘s runtime! It feels like he says „I must go now.“ and takes a nap. And do the rebels better? No. They seem to know that there is enough time for them to arrive in time so they can build light sabers, take walks after destroying the only mean to arrive the Star Destroyer in space. They discuss 30 seconds (I looked at the timer) if they should jump over a growing (!) abyss while watching the Star Destroyer leave and the distance growing. Maybe it would help to smoke weed before watching this show to get into the right mood?

I think the writers and Dave are so laser focused on getting all the pieces in place that they aren't stopping to realize how contrived the whole story is becoming. Things feel like they are happening because the story needs them to happen.

Yeah they look like architects and not gardeners in storytelling. They seemed to just write plot points in advance, stitch together wishlists with conveniences. Usually architects have to be gardeners eventually, and then their plots change once they get into the emotional mine field of interpersonal relationships. But Filoni seems sort of psychotic in the way that characters respond to each other, how they recieve immediate and long term consequences. That space battle in episode three made it look like Ahsoka and Sabine were playing a video game that only one of them liked. Being Stoic doesn't mean being as inanimate as a rock when your life is in danger, and Sabine celebrates the kill of one ship while 5 others are still shooting at her. It makes absolutely no sense on human empathetic levels. It was just apathetic reactions to their environment on almost every scene. I'm not sure what story they were trying to tell.

So many scenes felt like bad Rebels, i.e. everyone makes dumb decision just because. This only interesting bit was, as always in this show, Baylan and what he's up to. This show is better than most other Star Wars show but it's still not great.

I remember explaining to people a while ago that in my eyes, this show couldn't be compared with Andor but that it was my second favourite because it hit a lot of notes right or something along those lines. Perhaps I was blinded by nostalgia, blinded by how great it was for me to see the Rebels characters back after nine years. The season is over and while I'm still somewhat excited to see where it goes, I notice that I'm mostly filled with a feeling of "Meh". It mostly has to do with the following things. There are more things, but due to not wanting to make the comment too big (I apologise if it is), I'll keep it to my three main complaints: - Making a big deal about going to a new/different galaxy, only for the planet in said galaxy to be a standard Star Wars planet template. For example, why did the bandits/nomads use blasters? Such a missed creative opportunity to come up with something new, or at the very least try something different instead of the thing we see everywhere. - Some things shouldn't have been in the show and some things should have been in the show. Examples: Why is it only mentioned that Sabine told Ezra about everything that he missed? I'd have loved to see that conversation! Instead of the infamous "The Emperor has died?" "So they say." New Republic corruption/politics shouldn't have been in this show. I don't know how much of this ended up on the cutting room floor, but the way it was included in the show was too little to have any meaning but too much to the point that it took screentime which should have perhaps invested in something else. - I loved Sabine during the first episode, I understood her pain and her loneliness. I could relate to it. I loved the moment where Sabine's and Ahsoka's teamwork didn't work until Ahsoka listened to Sabine. But what happened after? I have so many questions, to the point that it starts to feel as if this isn't the Sabine from Rebels. All with all, I have the silent hope this is a wake up call, but I severely doubt it is. Please don't give Dave Filoni the keys, don't let him become THE creator for Star Wars content going forward. I'm alright with him being one of the creators, but there have to be other people running projects as well. While I respect him and enjoyed things he has produced, even parts of this show, I think my overall analysis is that he missed more things than he hit and I don't want Star Wars to continue on just this path.
@Arvenico

I think his handling of Thrawn in particular shows that Filoni should stick to his own characters. It's not even that he has NO idea how to write a compelling villain, as I would argue Rebels had a decent enough "rogues gallery". But he seems to have no idea how to write a military genius, or a villain who is motivated by more than "For teh Empire". But the biggest problem is that he is far too invested in his own characters to allow them to suffer the defeats they would need to suffer against Thrawn, or to actually be outplayed by someone who should be so much smarter than them.

Filoni is a lot like Lucas. He excels in a supervisory, big picture role but is a subpar writer. Character arcs, believable motivations, proper dialogue and tension, those things are lost on him, he just can't do it effectively. As you said, he absolutely needs to be part of the creative process and big picture stuff but for the love of God let proper writers and directors handle the bulk work. My only issue with everything being like Andor is tonally, Andor was very bleak. The writing was top-notch, but if every new piece of SW media is that bleak and depressing from a tone perspective, SW will lose the fun factor that drew so many into the original trilogy. There needs to be a balance. But then again, I guess you can have Andor-quality writing with different tones, so I guess that shouldn't be a huge concern of mine.

The stakes just weren’t there for me and I’m not really onboard with everyone letting Sabine off the hook so easily for her pretty big mistakes. You can still forgive people while also holding them accountable for their actions and getting them to face the CONSEQUENCES of those actions. The show was fine as Rebels S5, but for those who never watched Rebels, the reunion between Hera and Ezra at the end felt like a waste of time-like how do these people know each other again and why is it so emotional for them to meet? If I’d never watched Rebels, I wouldn’t care less about that scene and instead feel frustrated they didn’t spend that time developing Baylan’s story a little more. I feel like this show really needed an editor to come in and cut the fat/wasted time and show the audience the risks of Sabine’s choices. Like how has Thrawn threatened the galaxy in the past? What specific plans does he have for oppressing its people? (Not that I want his motivations to be that simple-it’d be great if he were manipulating the Empire to achieve a higher goal like others have said). All in all, this was another example of a show underperforming to what we know it was capable of. The best thing to come out of this season is that I want a Clone Wars live action series with Ewan, Hayden, and young Ahsoka, but I worry they’ll wreck the writing on that too. Disney, you have so much potential-why do you insist on squandering it?

I feel like I'm on crazy pills. This is not good star wars. It's JJ Abraham's mystery box bs with no answers. Sabine using the force to the extent that she did might unironically break power scaling in star wars. Thrawn is basically failing bit by bit and calling them success (he might be an idiot). Interesting characters are ignored in favor of... I don't even know. Sabine never faces any consequences for essentially dooming millions of lives. She abandons Ezra on a ship full of imperials to fight a person there designed to stall you but becuase of attachments you stay... This is bad. The jedi are selfless and so your priority should be to defeat thrawn not save your master. The jedi are selfless and so when Sabine acts this way, force powers aside, it makes me think she is not worthy of being a jedi. Also Ezra literally building a lightsaber after saying the force is my ally makes me think they didn't watch their own show. Poor plot holes that I haven't even mentioned, lame action sequences that make Rosario Dawson look like a 46 year old woman playing with a stick and actively bad characters that are written as if they belong in a cartoon. I wanted to like this show, I really really did, but the longer it went on the worse it kept getting. Thrawn is by far the most incompetent Imperial commander in live action, and if he can't manage to take out 3 people on the ground with Tie Fighters and Gun Ships at his disposal, how is he supposed to pose any real threat to the New Republic Fleet? I've seen B1 Battle Droids more threatening than the Night Troopers. The level of plot armor for Sabine, Ezra, and Ahsoka was insane. Ezra, not only escaping Thrawn's ship off screen, but how in the world did he know where to find the New Republic fleet? Why was he still wearing the Stormtrooper helmet? So much stuff just didn't make sense and everything was so low stakes. It was cool and all seeing the nightsisters' darkside creepy force magic again, and Ezra remaking his lightsaber and mentioning Kanen, and all that. But, then they went super speed through the pacing, literally railroaded where they needed to be for PLOT, so it felt off. I still refuse to believe that Sabine suddenly masters the force after one peptalk, that ain't gunna fly with me. Such acts of power have to be believably earned. No training, no struggle, no lesson learned like what Ahsoka went through. WTF happened here? It's Rey Notskywalker being Deux Ex Machina all over again, stop it. Sabine was my favorite charactor in Rebels, yet THIS Sabine felt nothing like her. Other than that, I fully expected Thrawn to win in the end and was not disappointed. I hope they build him up to be a huge villain and don't treat him like a joke. Lastly it would have been nice to have at least a teeny scene showing Ezra's escape from Thrawn's capital ship. I didn’t like this one at all, it had some good, but for me it was mostly bad. Pacing is bad, why on earth are they driving Ahsoka’s ship so slow with the crab people, because Ezra is building a saber? Thrawn is going to leave them stranded and they’re moving along like cattle farmers. Why do we spend so much time watching Morgan get powers when she dies a little later, like why did that take so long, because it looked cool? Also, so many of the action scenes are so clunky, any time stormtroopers are onscreen it looks bad, it looks silly, it’s Dave trying to bring a cartoon into live action and it doesn’t work. There’s like 20-30 stormtroopers shooting at them and we see like 2 or 3 blaster bolts coming at them being blocked every couple seconds, it doesn’t track. Sorry, they lost me with this one, the stakes felt so low, we knew nobody would die or anything. The biggest bummer is Ray Stevenson being gone though, his bit at the end to me was the most intriguing, interested to see what’s calling to him. And hey at least they finally showed Anakin as a force ghost, Disney has been way too scared or something to do it until now. I’m left disappointed though, don’t have much faith in the quality of a movie with Dave directing, he’s fine, but he’s not George, there’s just that liiiiittle extra something I can’t put my finger on missing, that one rung of quality he’s not reaching. I fear Star Wars will never be good again, people just can’t competently write it other than Andor, which is leading to a predetermined end. In the end all of this leads to the sequels, so who cares really? This isn’t Star Wars when it all boils down to it for me, it’s Disney Star Wars, for me it’s all non-canon.

This was the roughest episode of the series. Not only were there a lot of mental gimnastics and bad writing, the pacing was waaay off, but the Volume felt extremly constricting and was very noticable. This whole show should have been an animated series, not only would it get rid of the need to familiarize new viewers with the characters which took a lot of time, it would also allow for more interesting set-pieces and better looking fights, and the writing could have been on the level of, let's say, Bad Batch, where it's intended more for the childern, where Filoni is most comfortable, and not the in-between adult and children as we got here, where he was saying it plainly, a bit rubbish.

I kept trying to figure out why I felt the finale was so unfulfilling and I think I understand now. It’s because it felt so forced. Like it was an act instead of a living universe. I can’t recall the last time I watched a modern day series where it felt like all the principal characters’ sole purposes were to drive the plot forward. Usually there’s always the one or two but in this case it really seemed like they all lacked any agency unless it directly related to getting to the convenient cliffhanger of an ending.

I don’t want to use the word “hate” because it is such a strong expression but I really really really did not like the finale and in fact am very much disappointed with the show. I’ve see CW and Rebels and liked the fan service but which normie viewer gets the point of why Thrawn is such a threat or why should we care about Ezra? I mean, I watched rebels and even I don’t care that much about him… There was no hook at the beginning of the show to draw people in, no tension at all! It was dull! Filoni forgot that this is an 8 episode live action show and not a 24 episodes animated series, where you can afford to have filler episodes. As much as I love CW, here he did NOT deliver. Makes me fear for the movie. And plot holes as far as the eye can see… oh my, I go now into my corner to cry, so much potential again wasted.

I think the biggest thing bothering me after the finale is the way Thrawn is portrayed. As a huge fan of the original EU Thrawn books and the new canon Thrawn trilogy, the way he was portrayed in this series just felt off. I think they really need to bring in Timothy Zahn to write this character. Also really wondering what they're going to do with Baylan's character from here as it was one of the most intriguing parts of the series. Would love to see his story continue, but I'm not sure who would be able to have a similar presence to Ray Stevenson. Overall I would say the series as a whole was better than Obi-Wan and Book of Boba Fett, but not as good as season 1 and 2 of the Mandalorian and Andor.

It was like I had two voices in my head watching this episode. One moment, I'd be going "that's cool" and the next I'd be going "wait a minute, that doesn't make sense." Much of the action was pretty good but the tactics were so often flawed. First, we see Ezra apparently does not care that Sabine made it possible for Thrawn to return to the SW galaxy. Then none of them seem to have thought that maybe they should just get on the spaceship and quickly fly to where the SD is. Nonetheless they somehow get there before Thrawn can actually leave. Apparently, none of these people with a lightsaber know it can cut off limbs until near the end of all this. Nonetheless, it still looks like Thrawn will get away and leave all his enemies stranded but no, Sabine suddenly exhibits quasi-Rey like abilities and can not only pull her lightsaber to her but minutes later actually force-levitates Ezra when he's about to fall (at that moment I was seriously hoping she would fail and Ezra would go splat). I guess you just never know who might actually be capable of being a force user at any age. The Jedi should have been running ads that said "Looking for a new career? Come to the Jedi Temple for testing; maybe you too can be a padawan!" The best parts of the episode were the final scenes with Shin and with Baylan. This was not surprising but it was disappointing that we didn't get more out of the bulk of the episode. It was like eating a bunch of snacks; you enjoy it while you are eating but soon realize you are still hungry.

@@jamiemonteith2700 The Empire got TIE fighters for cheap because they got a bulk discount for buying the things in their hundreds of thousands. It also helped that the company producing them was OWNED by the Imperial government, so they would be getting them at-cost even before any bulk discount. On the rare occasion Sienar actually sold them to private militaries they charged MUCH more per unit, due to the top-of-the-line weapons and engines. TIEs may not have had shields or hyperdrives, but they were most certainly high-performance, military-spec machines, they were only cheap due to sketchy Imperial economics. Okay, I’ve tried to defend Ahsoka & be optimistic, but I’m sorry, I was quite disappointed with the finale. Complaints: 1.) Why in the world was Ahsoka’s starship poking around at 20 mph with the Noti, waiting for Ezra to craft a lightsaber (which made sense, but did Huyang have Kyber crystals?) when they needed to stop Thrawn? Sense of Urgency? Hah! Thrawn sends out 2 TIEs (finally) and they knock out the engines of Ahsoka’s ship. Then, and only then do Ahsoka, Sabine and Ezra decide they need to get to Thrawn. The ironic thing is, if Thrawn had NOT sent out the TIE fighters, they could have got away free and clear, since as slow as the Noti were moving, Thrawn would have been back in the SW universe and probably gone to war before the Noti reached the Nightsister tower. 2.) Military and strategic genius? Hah! Thrawn looked halfway scared to death that they wouldn’t get away in time. Four Nightsisters, a bunch of stormtroopers, at least a half dozen TIE Fighters, and yet great and powerful Thrawn as clearly nervous! Then we hear him say ‘Long live the Empire!’. So any hope of seeing Zahn’s Thrawn is totally gone. 3.) Where did the two Howlers that Ahsoka, Sabine and Ezra ride come from? Ahsoka rode up on Baylan’s at the end of the last episode, but somehow I doubt Sabine’s would have hung around during the ground assault by the stormtroopers. 4.) If Nightsister magic could create undead Stormtroopers when they die, why didn’t master strategist Thrawn have that magic cast on them before he sent the stormtroopers out to intercept Ezra and Sabine the first time? 5.) So Sabine’s training stopped because Ahsoka was afraid that Sabine’s pain over the loss of Mandalore would turn her to the dark side? Wasn’t the destruction of Mandalore before Ahsoka began training Sabine, during the actual civil war with the rebellion? 6.) I guess Ezra knew about Sabine’s method of getting there and was okay with that, as was Ahsoka. At least her words about Anakin always being there for her, so she was going to be there for Sabine made sense. But not very dramatic. 7.) Frontal assault on the Nightsister tower, military genius Thrawn has the turbo lasers open up on them as they come riding up on their Howlers and they can’t hit a thing. 8.) Morgan Elisbeth was indoctrinated as a Nightsister…wasn’t she already a magic using Nightsister? Then she gets the ‘Blade of Talzin’. How did these Nightsisters know about Mother Talzin? Was it her sword, simply one any Nightsister can conjure up, or what? Her fight with Ahsoka was well-done, but it seemed just too dramatic to have her sacrifice herself just to slow Ahsoka’s band down. Brilliant strategy, Thrawn! 9.) So Sabine finally connects to the Force and summons her lightsaber. Okay, I accept that, but suddenly she is full-fledged Force sensitive. She can Force push Ezra onto the Star Destroyer hangar deck. It was like Sabine was Force-constipated and once her blockage passes, she flows easily. 10.) Not unexpectedly, Thrawn gets away, after sending a message to Ahsoka as if his masterful use of strategy had been the only reason he’d won. If Ahsoka’s ship had caught the Eye of Sion, then what would they have done? Board the Star Destroyer and fight their way up to the bridge only to realize the they need to be on the Eye of Sion bridge, not the Star Destroyer bridge? 11.) Ezra conceals himself in Stormtrooper armor - that is logical, except he had a beard and I’ve not seen any Stormtroopers with beards; would the helmet fit? Apparently so. So he lays low on the Star Destroyer posing as a Stormtrooper until they get back to the SW galaxy and then how exactly does he manage to steal a shuttle and take off to find Hera? I know Thrawn was on the bridge of the Eye of Sion, but they didn’t wonder why one of their shuttles took off and never returned? 12.) Wouldn’t Ezra have identified himself before coming into the New Republic cruiser? Why would he still be wearing his stormtrooper armor and helmet when coming down the ramp? You’d think with a beard, he’d want that off quickly. 13.) So Sabine, Ahsoka, Shin and Baylan are all stranded. Shin is hooking up with the bandits, Baylan looks like he made it to Middle Earth, but still we didn’t have any new clues to what he was doing or what he sensed. Now with Ray dead, what will they do with the character? Recast it? 14.) Sabine, Ahsoka and Huyang are just going to live with the Noti? All sense of urgency to stop Thrawn is gone and there is no attempt to contact any Purrgil that appear in the upper atmosphere to see if they can get a ride back to the SW galaxy? 15.) Anakin is going to be a Force Ghost? Maybe to help Ahsoka train Sabine better? 16.) Finally, couldn’t Ezra contact the Purrgil in the SW galaxy and get one to take him back to rescue Ahsoka and Sabine? Maybe the journey is strictly a one way path, but if that is the case, where did the Purrgil go when those drones started attacking them when they arrived with Ahsoka and Sabine? I feel a bit let down with the series; I feel there should have been at least three more episodes to flesh things out. It is frustrating that it will probably be two or three years before we get a season 2, if at all. I’d hoped they’d all make it back, now we just have the end of Rebels in reverse. Thrawn was not as brilliant as he was even in Rebels, the Nightsisters and their magic wasn’t really that impressive, we didn’t get any answers about Baylan and there were plenty of rather bone headed moves in the past three episodes that spoiled any sense of urgency about stopping Thrawn. I’m left feeling frustrated and wondering if Skeleton Crew or The Acolyte will improve things or just continue the luke-warm trend.

The only thing wrong with this comment is "I tried to defend Ahsoka and be optimistic." Lol. You could do this to every single episode. Honestly, I don't think anything here tops episode 2 and 6 where, first, they stumble upon Shin on Correllia by complete accident which causes the plot to continue and, second, Sabine is in a foreign galaxy and looks for her lost friend only to stumble upon him by accident in a couple hours even though Thrawn couldn't do this in 10 years. It's truly jaw dropping how little effort went into this writing

While I get where you're coming from, a lot of your complaints were explained. 1. They weren't waiting for the Noti, they were waiting for Ezra. Just before the Ties get there he says that he's done and it's time to leave. 2. Sabines howler was in one of the turtle ship things. I don't blame you for forgetting though because its only shown in one scene in episode 7. 3. The timeline of Ahsoka training sabine is unclear, but i'm pretty sure it's after the battle of endor but before the battle of Jakku. Therefore her family dying during it is explainable. 4. Clone troopers have been shown with beards, so not too weird for a stormtrooper to have one imo. 5. I don't think it's that unbelievable that Ezra stole the shuttle. There would be a lot less stormtroopers than usual and quickly exiting and jumping to hyperspace wouldn't be that hard considering no one knew anyone could be on board. Overall, I agree with most of your points and agree the show could be better. Just pointing out explainable issues and the fact that i only had five points out of sixteen is a testament to how flawed this episode was. I don't think the show was as bad as a lot of people are saying, but it's definitely riddled with problems. Better than BOBF and Kenobi, but it pales in comparison to the first two seasons of mando, Bad Batch and Andor.

@@jeffhlaalu667 Thanks for clearing some of that up, but I still think that due to the urgency of the situation, surely Ahsoka could have loaned Ezra a lightsaber (she uses two) or Huyang, who has worked on them for 25,000 years (insane!) could have quickly put one together or have one available that was mostly finished. I know Jedi craftsmanship of their sabers is actually a ritual, but to me it just seemed a bit crazy to even wait thirty minutes when so much was at stake. They could have even said that Ahsoka had Kanan's old saber, that was lost when he was rescuing Hera on Lothal shortly before he died. Perhaps Sabine found it on the street or something, shortly after the battle and had been keeping it. Poking around at slow speed when your enemy is Grand Admiral Thrawn seems really dumb. We have to assume that Huyang had kyber crystals in his toolbox. When the Inquisitor went up in a puff of green smoke a few episodes back, they could have mentioned taking his red bladed saber and then Ahsoka could have purified the crystals like she did those powering her two sabers. Or, Ezra could have just used the Inquisitor blade after Huyang found it in the forest. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he got a lightsaber, but if he'd been putting it together while Ahsoka was piloting the ship toward Thrawn's location, dodging turbo laser fire, I would have felt better about it.

I really enjoyed the entire series to various degrees until this final episode and it really let me down. The ship going at the pace of the crab people was mindboggling and immersion breaking. More than that, i just feel like it was all so by the numbers. In the Book of Boba Fett people were expecting something larger or unexpected such as Crimson Dawn. In Mando Season 3 finale, lots of people were wondering about the allegance of The Armouror. But once again, everything was exactly as it appeared at face value. And now, with Ahsoka, with the exception of the Mortis statues, we once again habe a by the numbers finale. Am I just expecting too much? I dont think so.

The problems are simple... People saw Mandalorian season 1&2 and got a taste of something good. We expected something interesting to happen or for a struggle in which our heroes do win, but it was a STRUGGLE! Boba Fett? Decline. Andor gave people expectations against as while not everyone liked it, it has its fans. Madalorian Season 3 - saw the previous two seasons... Got dragged though THREE FILLER EPISODES and got a show named SPIES... So naturally the question of who the other spy was going to be would have been a major mystery and exciting reveal even if it was the guy why refused Bo-Catan being in charge until she was literally handed the shiny stick. In any other show we would have had that follow up... Or at least why Din was captured and dragged someplace away alive... Yet nothing happened. Now with Ashoka... Even if we got a Season 2 and focused on what those damn statues could have meant... It will amount to the same thing like the other flops. The statues... Were just statues. So any basic mystery will end with a magic teleporting system to pop our heroes back home to defeat the big bad and thus nullify any consequences the heroes might have had. You know that would be lazy... But you also know that I am right. Lucas Films could make good Star Wars... They just refuse to let any of their writers make any good Star Wars.

I remember buying a laptop from ebay one time and was really skeptical. But they had almost outstanding reviews. I hit the purchase button, and wait. It gets there, and not only do I have a laptop, but a laptop sleeve, a tracking pad, and a mouse. He undersold the product and overdelivered. In Aliens, it expanded on the idea of one alien from alien 1 being able to wipe out an entire ship, by having aliens almost annihilate space marines. Not only that, there's an hierarchy, there's an alien queen, and she has an ovipositor. Not only that, when Ripley believes that all the aliens are dead, it rips the android open and we have a queen vs queen faceoff with ripley in a exoskeleton suit (the xenomorphs have exoskeletons as well). That movie just flowed organically, kept getting better and better and added value to its promises. In Ahsoka, Filoni gives me the impression that he's slightly psychopathic or apathetic. No one reacts the way a human would, and everyone is free of consequence, or reprimand. Their mistakes and how they affect others aren't dealt with in realistic reactions, reactions at all in dialogue or in facial expressions. It is perhaps the coldest series I've ever watched, including cartoons. IDK how you leave the editors room and think that these scenes flow logically and emotionally.

Sabine isn't supposed to be a Jedi au all. Thrawn is supposed to be a master strategist and tactician but is dumb as a box of rocks, he just acts smart and the writer makes everyone else believe it. The entire show has been one contrivance after another, Filoni doesn't know how to write character driven stories and this is the proof. Star Wars is as dead as the storm troopers on Dathomir now and the sliver of fandom are the Night Sisters using pixie dust to keep it alive.

Scenes without it, such as the ship battle through the purrgil, are gorgeous. I really haven’t stopped thinking about that finale since last night. It’s the first episode I didn’t wait to watch the following Wednesday but man do I wish I had. I think the most telling thing for me personally was the fact I felt the need to wash down the finale with an episode of Andor. I went back and watched Rix Road to compare the two season finales and man it’s not even close. Now I’m going to go into a lot of detail, but it’ll all ring true regarding the previous statement. Sorry for the following novel. This episode was putting lipstick on a pig. There’s no two ways around it. I’m going to use the MauLer format for the first five minutes of this episode. Enoch being set up in any meaningful way despite doing the same job as the droid on the bridge of the Eye of Sauron or whatever the hyperspace ring was called is JUST SILLY. Thrawn sending TWO tie fighters despite having a full squadron and opportunity to gain more once back from far far away is JUST SILLY. Between Ezra, Sabine, Ahsoka, and Huyang, not ONE of them seeing the fighters coming and being able to pull off the ship because the plot demands it is JUST SILLY. Talzin being referenced but not showing up or being explained despite a clear need to explain the nightsisters for the series to avoid being tackled by angry fans for being (accurately) “member berries” is JUST SILLY. Ezra not caring about his lightsaber was interesting but him just up and turning around to make another one with what I’m ASSUMING is Kanan’s Crystal (its never addressed smh) is JUST SILLY. Sabine opting to crash the ship (their ONE chance of catching up with Thrawn) is JUST SILLY. The crew having to babysit crabs in order for Huyang to have a reason to be out of the fight is JUST SILLY. But most of all, the crew having no sense of urgency is JUST SILLY. I can’t believe that they don’t learn their lesson. Andor, while the least watched, has the highest rating out of any of their half assed lazily written, “shows”. That show made fans INFINITELY happier than Kenobi, than Boba Fett, than Mando Season 3, and when the dust has settled, it’s going to be better than Ahsoka. I could go into the rest of what’s wrong with the episode, but I feel like Thor hit the nail on the head. It just sucks that the best part of the show and most impressive storyline since the Narkina 5 jailbreak died with Ray Stevenson. You sir, had one scene in this episode and the least screentime of any antagonist not including Marrok and Enoch in the whole show and still managed to be the best part of the gathering heap of garbage that Ahsoka now rests on the top of.

While I stuck it out through the first season, I really doubt I'll be drawn back for season 2. The only thing of remote interest to me at this point is Baylan and Shin and that's not enough to sit through 75-80% of a show that is completely disinteresting otherwise. I can't stand Sabine and hate where they took her character, I don't really like this version of Ahsoka, Thrawn is being written horribly incompetent even if he got the "win" here, the choreography is a complete mixed bag, the writing is generally poor, the dialogue stilted, and man I could go on. Most of the visuals were outstanding and the design of the world and characters, as was the music. But that can only take a show so far for me. This really is Rebels season 5, and as someone who wasn't exactly a fan of it, it just didn't work at all for me. I do not think that I will ever become used to people describing Star Wars as bland and boring but tolerable something that to my ears is utterly indigestible and intolerable. EU novels such as Crystal Star and Children of the Jedi were not the best stories written, but they were far from the utter tripe that passes for Star Wars now, especially as 9/10 of it is the dessicated remnants of the EU. Disney is baiting EU fans with beloved characters only to force feed them the feted flesh in a cannabilistic orgy upon the corpse. There is no plan, no consistent story, and in the end, when the thrice digested putrid feast is at last concluded, there will not even be Star Wars.

It was something they did to hype the fans up given the lack of announcements they had and it hampered this series because we now basically know that movie has to be culmination of the Thrawn storyline, what else could it be? Therefore we went into this series with ZERO tension because we knew at the end Thrawn has to make it back to the main galaxy, it was just how we get there that was left open.

Immediately after watching this finale, I went and watched the Andor finale. That made my decision on how I felt about it. This episode did "all the Star Wars Things" that all of us wanted to see, but I felt absolutely nothing. It was good spectacle; undead stormtroopers were cool, for the first time ever Death Troopers actually felt like an obstacle (plus the gnawing mouth was a nice touch), we finally *almost* saw a decapitation or limb removal for the first time since Mando Season 2.5, and there were some beautiful shots sprinkled throughout. But despite all that, it fell emotionally flat. I just simply didn't care about these characters despite the fact I nearly cried at both "Jedi Night" and "Family Reunion and Farewell" from Rebels. I did not buy Sabine going from not being able to move a cup, to being able to throw Ezra with the force, nor did I feel anything when she pulled the lightsaber to herself. The explanation for Ahsoka not wanting to train her was passable, but after making such a big deal about it in previous episodes, it felt very glossed over. And can we PLEASE talk about how there was NO CONVERSATION between Ezra and Sabine about how she got there (or barely any conversation between the characters at all). All-in-all, the season has some cool moments, but fell completely flat when I had zero emotional reaction whatsoever to anything that happened. Compared to Andor where you could feel the weight of everything happening on Ferix weighing you down like one of their bricks. Or Mando season 2 with genuine excitement. Or any of Rebels Season 3 or 4 finales. Or Clone Wars season 5, 6, or 7. I just didn't care about these characters, their relationships, or anything that happened to them. A lot of stuff happened in this show, but stuff happening doesn't matter if you don't care about the people it's happening to. Honestly, I think Star Wars TV should go back to its roots in animation; it had its flops there too, but I think it's a better medium for the majority of stories involving Jedi.

Sabine’s Force arc parallels Luke’s. We never saw Luke move anything with the Force until he was fighting for his life in the Wampa cave, hanging upside down. He was pretty much dead unless he could Force grab the lightsaber. The exact same thing happened with Sabine. She was pretty much dead unless she was able to Force grab the lightsaber. It was an intentional parallel to Luke’s first overt Force move. While you can argue Sabine never showed Force aptitude at all, I’d point out there were indications with the owls overlooking Sabine’s Darksaber training along with Kanan essentially saying in frustration that she was blocked by her Mandalorian upbringing, which in context does sound like Kanan thought she could be a Force user. I suspect Dave Filoni expected Sabine to be a Force user all along. Apparently with some Force users, you need some sort of life-threatening incident to finally unlock their overt abilities since both Sabine and Luke showed flashes of ability earlier. Luke went from barely being able to grab the lightsaber to being able to lift rocks with Yoda and then to fight extensively with Darth Vader, granted Vader wasn’t trying to kill him, within the same movie. It’s arguable it took Sabine longer than Luke to realize her power, which makes sense since she isn’t the child of Anakin Skywalker. Once unlocked, the overt abilities followed. But even Sabine wasn’t that good at it since she couldn’t block blaster bolts very well and was told to go to her own blasters instead. I’m ok with Sabine being able to wield the Force since it somewhat makes sense if you accept the Rebels hints were really hints. They were just very subtle.

A plot hole is something that makes the plot either inconsistent with itself or downright impossible. Arguably, Sabine surviving a lightsaber stab is a plot hole. It would be a plot hole if the Star Destroyer traveled back to the Star Wars galaxy without the ring, or if it was revealed that hyperspace doesn't work in this galaxy despite people arriving through hpyerspace. @@billybob7135 It is inconsistent with itself though. Thrawn is meant to be incredibly intelligent, or at least possess a modicum of it. His goal is to leave as fast as possible without any Jedi interference. Therefore, he should leave immediately when his ship is loaded and be done with it. Not doing so results in the inconsistency that Thrawn is supposed to be intelligent and going for his goals yet he lets an obvious opportunity to do so slip by. While you could argue that it’s a minor point and could be easily explained away by altering the timing, that would be doing the writers job for them. Honestly, the mid-season episodes were superb, but these two final episodes were a great letdown, I'm supposed to believe this is the same Thrawn, from the Thrawn trilogy and The Imperial trilogy? Lars Mikkelsen plays him so well, the opening shot in the hangar bay, with the chanting, his voice so sublime.I thought finally they were on the right track. Unfortunately, he regressed yet again into rebels Thrawn, where everything goes wrong, but it is all going according to the plan, "Thrawn we've lost 75 % of all our forces, and it gained us practically nothing" hmm, yes, but you see it will further our quest somehow" Imagine a world where they didn't just consult with Timothy Zahn,but had him actually write it or at very least help out with the script extensively. Besides, I don't fully understand why Thrawn is so hellbent on rebuilding the empire, they were merely a means to an end to help with the grysk. "Long live the empire". He has to rebuild the empire, deal with the republic and the grysk at the same time. I presume, good luck with that. Baylan Skoll, man, does Ray Stevenson carry this character, bringing such gravitas, that you just want to know everything about him. Unfortunately, you get almost next to nothing. We can have slight inclinations as to why he feels this way, but that's that, I desperately wanted atleast some answers, not a lot leave some of his background open. That's perfectly fine, but come on give me something, what made him change his perspective on the world,this ouroboros that needs to end? Shin, she's the wildcard of the series, excited to see what happens to her next. Huyang is top notch Eman Esfandi as Ezra is insanely good casting. Loved the Anakin scenes, but by end the it felt they used him a bit too much, lessens the impact when he showed up earlier. Chopper is, funnily enough, the character most in line with his rebels counterpart. Didn't like that Sabine was able to finally control the force ,she was so awesome and stylish in rebels I totally expected they were gonna go with that she is fine as she is and that you don't need to be ultra special to do good in the world. Excited about the Mortis stuff.

Baylan’s story was complete for this season. He was a mercenary. Now in season 2 we will see what happens with him and the Mortis gods, which was teased at the end. Stop complaining

This show puts to the rest the idea that Dave Filoni is or could be the “savior” of Star Wars. If this is the best he can do when given free reign, I don’t want him making any more live action Star Wars. What a waste of a TV series

I think if they put Filoni and Favreau together with Tony Gilroy, they could’ve made something great… Filoni being the story-guy, but Gilroy doing the actual writing.

This show just proves that Filoni (like Lucas) should just plot Star Wars, not write it, or have a co-writer in the room.

So, this finale was mixed for me So, stuff I enjoyed: - Action was fun to watch, I know some of it stretches believability a bit but I still had fun seeing three lightsaber wielding individuals battle hordes of enemies again. - The ceremony with Morgan and the great mothers was cool and I like how it references Ventress' becoming a true Nightsister in the Clone Wars series. Seriously, the incantation was the same word for word! - Undead Night Troopers! I was waiting for this and when I saw them rising up I was happy to see that! - Not really a "good" thing just an observation. I thought it was interesting that Thrawn called Ahsoka a ronin. I mean it's not completely out of nowhere because Star Wars takes a lot of influence from Japanese culture, history and media (you can see a lot of that in this very show), but it's funny hearing that word used in Star Wars. As for stuff I didn't enjoy: - Ezra creating a new lightsaber I was kind of mixed on. The scene itself was funny due to his interactions with Huyang and I like that the show gave another reference to Kanan so his presence is still felt in the show. While I thought it was cool that Ezra created a new lightsaber, I also found it weird he didn't ask for his old one back. I mean he's probably not used to using a lightsaber after not wielding one for ten years. I mean I don't doubt head probably want to wield one in the climax because assaulting a fortress is different than fending off a few squads of attackers in the wild but I'm getting off topic with this point. - This might just be a me thing but I feel like the scene would have been more emotional if instead of just staring in shock, Hera ran over to hug Ezra with tears in her eyes. Idk, I wish we got to see more of Hera's motherly loving side in which this show hasn't really delivered on that much which sucks because Hera was my favorite character in Rebels. - Wish we could have gotten a clearer answer for what Baylon was looking for, I mean the show gave us a hint in the finale but we didn't even get a piece of dialogue. And since Ray Stevenson is no more, we might not learn more in the future unless he's recast. - Like a lot of people I feel like Thrawn could have been written better or at least have better plans. And I agree they should probably include Timothy Zahn to help iron out the kinks in his character. All in all I enjoyed this series and there are some episodes I might rewatch but I don't feel the same drive to revisit it as I do with some of the other shows. Also, as for this show serving as a "season 5 to Rebels" I feel it slightly underperformed in that regard. I mean in some places and scenes it felt like a successor to Rebels but a lot of times it didn't.

damn the things you enjoyed I really didnt. Stormtrooper Zombies and weird magical swords don't feel like SW to me at all and the action was soo boring.

They really really need to know how to pace these shows, the random cuts, the jumps between scenes, the tactics from night troopers, all of this is pretty garbage. I feel like there's so much fat they cut out for no reason at all, tired of these random episode lengths. Every episode should be an hour to flesh out more stuff instead of rushing everything.

Ezra having to be saved by Sabine in every situation was really annoying. Having him make a Kanan Jr Saber was cool though! I really wish he had stayed behind and I really wish he had been pissed at Sabine. Like why does she get off Scott free for dooming the galaxy? Overall very let down after being a huge rebels fan. This story should have been animated to fully flesh it out and to pay better respect to the animated legacy of Star Wars.

Very true. I can’t believe how badly they ruined her character. Ruined all the rebel’s characters really. Poor casting and bad acting. Except Ezra of course. He feels the same

I really looked forward to Ahsoka; I'm glad it's done because we got Ahslowka, with fan service instead of plot, Dawson being wooden and fighting like she's 90 and arthritic, glacial pacing and almost nothing making sense, Ezra an unrecognizable subservient tool, Sabine nearly destroying everything yet paying no price, and everyone being profoundly stupid, most of all Thrawn, who Filoni transformed from the smartest person ever into the embodiment of the Dunning-Kruger effect. There's a saying that a character is only as smart as the writer; what does it say about Filoni?

I take no satisfaction saying that, I told you so, but I told you so. Filoni is a worm, that lucked into George Lucas' radar for his work on Avatar the Last Airbender and was given free reign to insert all his little personal-isms into the Clone Wars series. He's now inserted every kind of wolf theme possible and himself into cannon along with cluncky nods to every childhood and filmmaking influence he's ever had. The signs have always been there, but everybody was too busy drinking the Filoni Kool-aid to see them. The Star Wars Community gave Filoni savior status because of his ties to GL and because of his obvious passion and because the sequels sucked so much. But we should be able to recognize strengths and weaknesses, Timothy Zahn or some other writer with talent should have written this series but because Ashoka is Filoni's baby and is apparently Kathleen Kennedy's side piece, we get the crap. Y'all say things like the Mando/Filoni-verse and have elevated this dude way past his talent and now like Pandora's box, it may be too late to save my beloved Star Wars from another era of the Dark Times. So take a bow Fanboys and girls, you gave away the keys to the kingdom to a Fanboy with a wolf fetish and somehow expect quality storytelling instead of a hodgepodge of themes, long meaningless stares and gratuitous lightsaber fights. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

None of what you said is actually bad necessarily in my opinion. Every writer is different and will put their own flavour into star wars. But it should still be good. Ahsoka isn't bad because Filoni likes wolves, it's bad because of poor pacing and illogical character decisions

@@Dendricklystable, I love your unnecessary comment. You completely missed how I wrote about Filoni’s influence throughout Star Wars including his role in the Mandalorian which has the same problems of pacing and character development and so much more. I’m not only focused on the Ashoka series, I’m focused on how he has been allowed to effectively control the future of the franchise. I suggest that you take a reading comprehension course or take your snarky comments elsewhere.

Thanks for this, I also appreciate the insight to the CS Lewis world between worlds reference, i didnt even think of that. I can't say I wasn't disappointed. It felt like a rebels episode but rushed and with to many unanswered questions. I really enjoy Lars Mikkelsens performance as Thrawn but they need to up their writing if they want him to be the menace he deserves to be. Not sure how I feel about Sabine using the force. I know they have built up to it the entire season but it still feels wrong. On the positive side I loved that we finally got some zombie troopers and I really liked Ezra this episode.
