Thanks, took many years but finally at the stage where when those clothing holes reminded me of him I laugh instead of cry...I bond deeper with animals than people so the loss is always greater. But I love when other animals remind me of mine. I should just talk about him in the present because I don't expect the sympathy. It was just a fun similarity. I had 'bird clothes' and work clothes and home but no bird clothes, lol! I do think it's their version of grooming though they used to try my hair but until recently it was too long. He'd get himself all wound up like a kitten and a ball of string so expect that!

He doesn’t react negative to foods he dislikes, he just won’t eat it lol. His favourite food I would say is corn and pine nuts, however he only gets those as treats.

Getting another bird is no guarantee that they will get along. If you do decide to get another bird you should keep them in separate cages and apart in different rooms for at least 2 weeks to make sure the new bird isn’t sick. If your bird is bonded to you it will most likely be jealous of the new bird. But definitely keep them in separate cages until you no they are 100% ok with each other, some ringneck parrots are very aggressive towards each other and have been known to kill other birds.

It’s difficult to tell sometimes around this age. I do have a video all about it, however it’s for the ringneck parrots. You can get a DNA test done to confirm. As far as building trust, that takes time. Try not to force your bird into doing anything as this will cause your bird to bite or become fearful or aggressive. Use treats to work with your bird and be patient.

How long have you had her for, they do need time to get comfortable with their surroundings. Use her favourite treat and try placing it somewhere where she can see it nearby, perhaps on top of her cage. Let her come out on her own, you don’t want yo force her out, she obviously finds her cage as a safe spot.
