Well Erin what a shame but no one can say you didn’t give them more than enough opportunities to bond!! No one would have made more of an effort than you!! Piper & Bigwig are too used of being the main bunnies 🐰 i guess!!! 🥰

I had a similar situation and had to divide a large room down the middle into 2 enclosures for 2 pairs. I used the same metal "fences" to make the divide but had to "double layer" the fences as I found the pairs were trying to bite each others faces through the fences. There was also a little "referred aggression" but that stopped after a few days. If it didn't I would have worked out a way of each pair not being able to see each other but thankfully it didn't come to that. I'm sorry they couldn't stay in the quad but you tried really hard to settle their bond but as you said it just wasn't to be. Your bunnies still all have a great set up and I know they will all be really happy living there.

Thanks Catherine, that seems like a good solution if they become too aggressive through the metal fencing. Luckily they seem relatively content beside each other just now, especially as Piper & Bigwig spend most of their time upstairs haha :)

Bucha, what a pity that the rabbits don't get along, it's better that you separate them so that it doesn't happen to adults and that way you don't stress them out and bucha, the same fome because it would be great to see them all together, greetings from Chile ❤❤

This is a shame. Unfortunately I have the same situation so I had to buy a clear plastic mask that is made to cover cats face when cutting the nails and that’s the only way they can confront each other with out bites and they get to lay down next to each other when they are frustrated. But it’s very sad. It seems to be a holland loop thing

My pairs wouldn't bond either be careful of the seperation pen mine can jump over it if they really want to

Tbh you couldn’t do anything more for them I think the issue is you just have 2 dominant rabbits would you not keep 2 in the current setup and 2 in the stable

That's a good point, it does seem to be one of the main issues here. I did consider this, although much more convenient them being in one shed, and easier to over Winter them :)

I'm having the same problem :( One of my boys lost his wife :( I want to join him with my group of 3 but he is SO dominant! Fights all round with everyone getting upset :( I hate seeing him alone (still next to the others) but I can't afford to take on another rabbit (vaccinations etc.).

Hi Helen, I'm very sorry to hear that. At least he can be nearby even if it doesn't work out. I often worry for that day where either Piper or Bigwig will be in that situation; I don't know how well they would cope. That's the thing, the vets bills from vaccines does amount to a fair bit each year, so it can get pricey with a larger group

How come you didn’t put enya and ziggy in the other barn n leave piper and bigwig in their main shed? Or did you put them all in the shed because you want them to be able to see each other still!! And have you got any plans for the barn?

Hi Lucy, good question. I figured the shed would be best, so they can still be near each other and it is much more sheltered during the cold months. Easier to care for them too with all the supplies in the same area. I hope one day to use the barn for other animals, but for now it remains empty :)
