@@theartificerchannel2110 Very cool ! Can't wait. This kot has so many items. Yes.. it's a huge infrared spot light but the only way to see the beam whens it's on, would be with night vision equipment. The NVA / VC would "be lit up like a Christmas tree" in pitch black. Think.. black & white with shades of gray infrared. Not the standard "lime green night vision" goggle view. Kinda like when you see areal footage from aircraft gun ships. I don't think it was very popular. Most tanks in Vietnam were used to defend bases instead of hunt the enemy like traditional tanks because of the rough muddy terrain. And hose M113 personal carriers are mostly welded aluminum, so when fully sealed up, the front piece goes down and they can wade through channels of water like little submarines with the top portion visible (if maintained properly in the field and there was no damaged spots)

I believe it was more of a battle set as there are not gaming instructions of mention of a board game. This is from a time of the big battle sets that were popular and are coming out again big time with these new laser cut buildings. Italeri is really coming out with some impressive ones but I think this was the first and only Vietnam battle set out there 2018 relatively new but the main kits are sadly harder to get hold of now. They are from the original ESCI moulds.

Since I'm planning to try out a Vietnam-diorama, this seemed nice since all the things needed are already there - not having to buy them all separately at a greater cost. And 'cause you mentioned "gaming" on the video I got spooked that I'd be ruining a gaming set by gluing all the pawns in a static display :) But I' still curious about a ready build - couldn't find one on KZfaq. About whether to cut the bases out of the figures etc.

@@Jamidee75 I always cut the base off of the figures regardless, this means you can either stick them to ground or place them easily in a diorama. I will do a tutorial on how I do this, but there is a lot in the works as you can imagine lol

Relatively yes, there is a cool technique you can use on the Vietnamese troop which makes them look like they have camo, using the plastic material to manipulate it. I will do a vid or checkout my insta I have a pic of an example

@@theartificerchannel2110 I already have it, nice model, I also have the old Cromwell Centurion mk5(Aus) I would have liked this more if it included some new figures or vehicles, or they sold the buildings separately as there are plenty of other figures from Orion or Pegasus and other vehicles.

I completely agree, I would love to see S Models do this type of Kit, Trumpeter does do an M48 but its is a post WW2 version, I would suggest looking on Ebay for the M48 later versions or even better the Armory kits, Walker Bulldog, I have this one and will do an unboxing soon!

@@theartificerchannel2110 ah, the M48 _is_ a post-ww2 tank? And an M41 is of no use to me, as I am planning to build one or two tank platoons from Turner's Tankers, F Co 40th Armor, Berlin, 1961. Need M48's preferably A1's.

@@theartificerchannel2110 the engine deck is no problem, except an extra expense, it's available from German ModellTrans. The Revell kit is the same as Italeri, both being the ancient ESCI kit. And they discontinued it! It also requires better tracks and road wheels, MT has some, so does OKB Grigorov, but again, added cost. The ESCI/Italeri/Revell kit can still be found second hand at times, but with the Revell box OOP and Italeri's now only available in a - to me - useless diorama set, sellers ask outrageous prices. Sometimes I wonder what model companies are thinking with, not the brain for sure! This year is 60 years since the tank standoff between 10 Russian T54 tanks an 10 US M48A1s. T54 is available from several companies in 1/72, including AMMO's superb kit. But US tanks, not to mention other vehicles? Nowhere to be found. :-(

I Agree its a tough break easy to forget about the ESCI influence, I have found that I can get some good kits on Ebay, and I think there is a point to eventually lobby a company to put forward a decent set of cold war vehicles. I bet Airfix with their new style could easily do it! Or Dragon for that matter. I think this needs to be picked up by sombody because the market is clearly there! Btw the best T-54 detail wise is Ammo which I will review also! be sure to check that one out! If you want I can make that my next tank unboxing.
