Marcelito Pomoy was homeless and is self taught. Biologically, he's rare: able to expand his vocal chords and position his larinx to reach register men do but he can contract them in a way usually only women can. Some men contract the chords and keep it in a whole song in female voice, as singing opera. Marcelito Pomoy is unique as he goes back and forth male and female vocal chords positions easily, has extense range in both male and female registers and keeps pitch perfect in both.

He didn't under go on any training its just that his voice is very natural and a gifted one...

I'm a Filipino I'm so proud of him he still humble.. he live a very hard life in the Philippines when he was a kid.. at seventh his mother left him, his father was in jail.. he was orphan.. when he scared he sing.. and attending philippines got talent was his way to find his family and he succeed.. at the final round of philippines got talent his family was there.. Just a little surprised that you don’t know this song “prayer” was sung by Celine Dion & Andrea Bocelli. He never had any formal training in music since he lived in the street after his mother abandoned him at an early age while his father was in jail. Suffice to say, he has the gift to be able to sing both in tenor & soprano voices. He was the 2011 winner of Philippines got talent. Kabayan..marcelito is a legit self thought singer..he was future ay ellen show at 2018 and had a couple of live performances at 107.5 wish bus radio..was invited to performed infront of the prince and famiy of spain..covered beyonce's song LISTEN..had an album intitled MARCELITO DUET YOURSELF and SPLIT....covered the song POWER OF LOVE..and the PRAYER was his winning piece in PILIPINAS GOT TALENT way back 2011.....we've been watching him.performed since his audition time at PGT yet still we're astoned by his voices.....no voice lesson or training at all.......out one and only MALE DIVA 😍😍😍

I think I have watched every reaction of Marcelito and I loved yours with your honest surprise and very good analysis. I've been following him for over 3 years and got to see him in person in 2018. He is incredible in person. Singing to him is like breathing. Natural and matter of fact. His voice is so pure and clear. And I really don't think he realizes how good and special he is. I agree that his next song choice is very important to keep his momentum on this show going. For me, he could sing the phone book and I would love it but I'm very bias and will listen to anything he sings and clap my little American heart out. But this audience is very fickle and must be entertained to the hilt. So he needs a song with the impact and changes of voice as in The Prayer. My favorite song he does is Perfect in English and Italian. It is beautiful but I don't think that should be his "fight" song. My choice would be Beauty and the Beast. He starts with the female voice and then goes into the very deep male voice. It definitely has the wow factor that he needs for this contest. Google it and see what I mean. YOU at 1:30: is it normal that his wife is on stage with him? ME: yes, his wife is there as his INTERPRETER. Marcelito only reached GRADE 2 as he grew in the streets doing odds jobs (poultry worker, balut vendor, pin boy, etc) to feed himself. He understands english BUT HE CANNOT COMMUNICATE FLUENTLY and Marcelito is HUMBLE ENOUgH to accept that weakness, that's why, we loved him more.... HE IS NOT professionally TRAINED, he discovered the singing technique by himself while doing poultry work. There are MANY dual-singers in the Phils. BUT the difference?? MARCELITO IS EFFORTLESS!!! thanks for reacting!

He has an inborn talent - gifted as we call, he was an orphan starts singing and discovers his talent at a young age

"He must have studied hard on that." Well he did study hard...on his own. He didn't get a real proper education, most likely. His mother left him, and his father was in jail. He grew up until he saw PGT and decided to join so that he could find his family. You would know this if you watched the clip about his life prior to his performance, but I'm glad you didn't, because it would have broken your heart and made you biased about his performance.
