** please note: I MISSPELLED SQUALANE (in the video you’ll see “squalene although I am talking about SQUALANE “ ** you want SQUALANE not SQUALENE ! Thank you to one of my amazing KZfaq friends for letting me know. ❤️
Italian Skincare Secrets from my grandma to you, while there are many skincare secrets in every culture and family, here I am sharing some of the simple ones I grew up with... I have fond memories of these skincare secrets from my Italian aunt and grandma.
I have a full book of simple beauty recipe, but I find these to be a good starter kit. Of course there are masks with coffee grounds, roses, rosemary and sea salt... would you like more videos like this one?
I look forward to learn you natural skincare secrets in the comments below.
**DISCLAIMER:
These are fairly safe ingredients I was trained as an esthetician and I have worked in a few dermatology clinics, HOWEVER, I AM NOT a Dr., so for People who have hypersensitivity, allergies, medical conditions, acne, and other medical and skin conditions might want to use caution and consult a professional, as natural products can often be stronger than commercial ones.

You are going to laugh but I go out and get a little sun and then come in and put olive oil on my skin! I let it sit as long as I can, then take a cooler bath and do a gentle scrub with brown sugar. Also, I have a small glass of wine while doing this. Make a mask out of oats and honey Yes, I am half Italian and this is what I was taught! My nanna always told me to eat my beauty- fruits and vegetables. She never ate anything pre packaged. And she only used stuff from the kitchen for beauty treatments. And don't forget, it is also how you talk to yourself...treat yourself with love and kindness!

In my opinion as an italian our biggest beauty secret it's happiness even in the hardest time, there is time to smile, time to take aperitvo, pamper your self, dress up for no reason, go to the seaside for an afternoon or to walk. Also I'm big on drinking a lot of water 💫

I am Scottish and love using oats/oatmeal to soothe my skin when it plays up. Many skincare brands now incorporate oats. As a retired pharmacist, I think nothing of making my own wee potions for skincare and also aches and pains. Oats soaked overnight and then mixed with honey are great for nourishing the skin as a mask. I use oilve oil for hair ends or sunflower oil and castor oil. My mum always told me to moisturize and used Elizabeth Arden brand when she had money, Nivea when she wasn't so flush and milk or butter when she had hard times. No excuses were allowed! She had amazing skin even in her 70's. Great Video Annalisa! Loved it. xxx

I guess the most famous natural beauty item in Turkey is rose water. I don't remember any time we didn't have rose water at our home. Later on I used other toners but I am still back to my rose water again, I just love it :) Also I really miss the natural soaps that smell like Turkish hamams. They are amazing and nothing makes me feel as squeaky clean as those soaps :)

I feel smells have the power to transport us to a time and place! I love rose water! So talking about smells, there is this soap called Crema di Champagne it’s a soap for clothes that instantly takes me back to fresh Lou dry hanging on the line at my grandma house! When I find it here I literally sniff the bottle every time I do laundry 🥰❤️

I'm lucky enough to have a Mediterranean deli in a nearby city, and they have the most wonderful Turkish soaps- the labels don't even have English but they are amazing. I think it's the Bay Laurel oil that makes the difference. If I move to Turkey it will be because of the soap!

My great grandma is Spanish, and something that she swears by is drinking a warm cup of lemon water in the morning. And going on a walk everyday the woman is almost 100. My other great grandma, God rest her soul, was 92 when she passed away and swore by ponds and oil of Olay. And her skin was so smooth.

To strengthen hair and as a hair loss remedy, I use an old recipe that was found among the beauty regime of Sissi (Queen Elizabeth of Hungary and Austria). It's brandy and egg hair mask. Mix an egg yolk with a couple of table spoon of brandy, you can add some honey for nutrition and drops of olive, but the point is that the alcohol and the egg yolk will invigorate the scalp and hair follicles and aid growth. Once it's applied on the scalp, wrap your head in cling film, a towel on top of it to keep it warm and get the beneficial reaction going. Wash it after halfen hour. Can be repeated weekly. Sissi had strong, long hair that reached her ankles. It was one of her beauty statements, which she only cut when her son died, as a sign of mourning. For face and skin in general, I eat food that contains a lot of animal fat. Never cooking oil or margarine!!! Butter and lard. Olive oil protects the heart from smoking and stress damage but it's not part of my country's traditional cooking and I find it difficult to incorporate its taste into my diet. I use it as medicine, having a teaspoonful on its own sometimes.:)

well i too come from a country where butter and other animal fat is used in cooking ( maybe the same as yours??) and i have replaced all with plant based fats. Many people dont understand the different types of olive oil, each has a different strength of taste. Depending also which country olive oil comes from depends also on a good quality oil or just pungent commercial olive oil. But i can garantee that the alot if not the most of my country's traditional foods can easily be replaced by plant based oils. And they tast just as good.

Here in Slovakia I collect agrimonia in autumn. I use this dried herb for tea to drink or in stronger tea to put on my face. Both options work for any kind of inflamation, soothe skin and digestion. The taste of the tea is unpleasant for many people but after some time you get used to it and it's worth.

Here in Philippines we use coconut oil in everything. Filipino womens love taking care of their hair that's why many of us have super long and healthy hair. Coconut oil or milk is our go to when treating our hair and skin because it helps to strengthen and boost moisture. Just have a coconut milk or oil as a mask and apply it all over your skin, leave it for 5 to 10 minutes before taking a shower. To strengthen your hair; you can do the same method, just don't apply it to the scalp because it is quite hard to wash. I've been doing it for a life time and it never fails me, I always get such sweet compliment from other people for having long healthy hair.

That was a great video! My mother taught me about the wonders of lemon. Use on skin to lighten dark spots, on yellowed nails, and I also used it to lighten my hair in the sun in my youth. Sweet almond oil is my favorite because I find it light. I have an assortment of oils that I rotate between on my skin, nail beds and body. Shea butter is another favorite. It’s thicker so I primarily use it on nail beds, knees, and elbows. Aloe Vera straight from the torn leaf for burns, cooling sunburn and repairing skin. The piano music at the end of your video is so beautiful. Although the screen was black, I was riveted and continued to the very end. Bravo.

Wow... I really liked your video... I am from India and we have more than thousands types of remedies I guess. I am from Eastern India and here in my house we normally use flour ( chickpea / wheat ), raw milk / yogurt, a pinch of turmeric and some drops of lemon ( the small ones ). Put it on face , wait for 15 to 20 mins, wash it off with cold water. Then use some rose water. Done. I also makes different kinds of fruit masks ( since we are blessed with varieties of fruits ) and my household personally use rose oil, sandal wood oil and holy basil oil. I like to mix sandal oil in my body wash. Also I like to use alot of mustard oil in winter ( I skip this part in summer ), even though it's very thick I like to massage with it , then wash it off with my body scrub and then put some rose/holy basil/ sandal wood oil into the water and rinse body. Actually I am very sensitive when it comes to scent.

Don't have any family beauty secrets to share, but I have extremely dry skin and dermatitis, and make a tonne of my own beauty products in self defense. Even 'sensitive' commercial products started leaving me rashy and raw. I rotate through almond butter, honey, almond meal, oatmeal flour paste, and a rose cleansing cream my friend makes to cleanse my facial skin. I layer carrier oils like rosehip, argan, and sweet almond with other natural creams from a local vendor. I use sweet almond oil or DIY whipped body butter on my bod, and flax seed gel in my hair. It was a really gradual progression, researching one skin/health/hair problem at a time, and finding a natural solution. One big recommendation is to read books on the subject as there is a lot of terrifyingly bad advice on the internet, and you have to have some basic knowledge to be able to evaluate it. LOVED getting new skin care recipes, and my region grows wonderful strawberries ....

Love this video!! My skin is also extremely sensitive and I agree, simplicity is truly the best. ✨ I use avocado oil to remove my makeup, and I love olive oil to seal in moisture on my hands and cuticles during the winter! I also recently added a simple vitamin c serum, and my skin has never been happier! These are great tips and I can’t wait to try the anti inflammatory mask!

Yes inflammatory issues are more prevalent then ever I feel! I’m only 26 and have serious inflammation. I like to mix tumeric, oats, olive oil, and lemon to use as a mask to brighten and exfoliate skin. P.s. My Italian grandma would agree with you about olive oil!!

OMG!!! You look like my grand- aunt Anabella. Greetings from Argentina. And yes, we learnt a lot about Italian skincare, in my case I had a great- grandma until my mid 20s!! A beauty secret of my grandma who she learned from her mamma: mix a bit olive oil with nivea cream. Only works on her and my mother because I have a very sensitive skin but it's a miracle, as they say "it's more than any retinol"

Annalisa thank you for another informative video. Please keep them coming. I enjoy trying natural skin care remedies too along with commercial products. My skin is sensitive too and the natural treatments are usually mild enough for me. I alternate between a honey yogurt mask and a mask of whipped egg white with a bit of lemon juice left on til it dries then rinsed with cool water and finished with spritzes of natural rose water.

From a very young age, our parents will teach us about the benefits of sleep 😁 And also nutrition, especially from local fruits and berries (apples, strawberries, raspberries etc) 🥰 I think those are some of the things that help keep our skin clear, and yes, our energy high! 🌟🌟🥰🥰

Hello Annalisa. I absolutely adore how sweet, kind, and soft-spoken you are. A beautiful woman inside and out! Am watching this in hopes of finding tips for my acne scars. I never use to get acne at all during my early teens but I hit 19 and bam! Breakouts almost everyday for months. I tried to take care of it and be gentle but apparently I wasn't gentle enough cause I have these small scars on both cheeks. At this point I'm not too worried about them as we are still wearing masks but my skin is my best asset and I really did pride myself on it and so deep down I am really insecure about it although hopefully they will go!

I have mild rosacea, always concerned about inflammation. I will have to try the strawberry mask so thank you Annalisa! 😊 My homemade secret is an eye makeup remover (mix 60% olive oil + 40% witch hazel in a pump bottle) -- gentle and effective and removes even the toughest MAC liquid liner.
@AnnalisaJ
@AnnalisaJ 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing the eye makeup remover!! I always favore more natural especially in the eye area. To make the strawberry mask even gentler add a bit more honey. Also I didn’t mentioned it but you can cut a gauze and put it in top if you want to apply a thicker layer and it will prevent from running. ❤️❤️✨

Hi Annalisa, I loved these ideas! I have used a good olive oil for years as my face serum. I also use as my face tonic each day a bottle that has water and a tiny bit of white vinegar mixed in. I put on with a cotton pad after cleansing my skin and before my olive oil serum. Oh and the best natural beauty ingredient- lots of 💤 sleep!
