Not sure if you remember, but a few months back i commented i was grinding for a GT, but I ended up finding my dream dark horse and made it happen. And even after 2 months, i still get giddy looking back at it. And i gotta say, you were a big motivator in me going with the dark horse. Even got me sold on the white. But i don't regret getting the dark horse over a GT, it's actually amazing.

The DH with that Tremec is just the best S650 hands down 10speed updated is great too but DH 💯💪🏽🤙🏽

Two great looking cars either way you go! The Dark Horse, suspension and transmission make a big difference. It’s more for the road course and Track handling. Derek’s car is more for the Dragstrip , and it makes more sense for him… with his setup! 🐎💪💯

Jake good video!!!! The comparison between the two cars is good. The Dark Horse internals are titanium piston rods, beefed-up cams. There is one other item that is strengthened but I cannot think of it. Ford enhanced the responsiveness of the brake by wire system so the car being a track car didn’t need the brake disc as large as the GT-500, even though they are 15.4” disc in the front & 14” disc in the rear. The Dark Horse out brakes any previous Mustang made. In fact Car & Driver Magazine stated two months ago that the Dark Horse is the best braking car ever tested by the magazine over the 40+ history. Plus Ford engineers stated that they had better performance from the Pirelli Trofeo RS tires compared to the Michelin Cup II R tires. Cheers Brother‼️ 👍👊💪😎🇺🇸🐎

I ended up getting a base 300A S650 GT. The only three options I got was the active exhaust, Nite Pony Package (Black accents), and 10 speed. I already did some mods: Steeda lowering springs, H Pipe, GT500 style spoiler, and RTR side skirts & lip. The Dark Horse is obviously way better but tbh I didn’t have the money to spend 70k. & even if I did, I don’t track the car or race it. So you’re right, it entirely depends on the buyer. My base GT 10r80’car was 43k, kooks longtubes and a whipple stage 2 basically has me at 55K ALL IN. you just can’t beat it at the price point. 300A gang FTW.

The dark horse has forged internals. And of course that tremec transmission if you're rocking the 6-speed! That alone is worth the difference in the price of these two cars.

tremec ,magnaride and handeling suspension tuning along with interior/exterior make the "DARKHORSE" the better value,but the 650 turned out nice too,killer wheel/tire setup and the exhaust is awesome!

I got a new s650 base manual 5.0 for $37300 2 weeks ago couldn't be happier!

My 2017 PP1 manual just hit 12,300 miles. My car still smells like it just came off the line it's still so new and clean. LOL.. I love my strut tower and K brace it does make a huge difference in the feel of the car.. But he did make that look like a premium for sure.. It looks great.. But anyway who ever had my car before me took great care of it. I made out great when I got mine..

I test drove a brand new base model GT. Manual car, but it just wasn't what I wanted right now. Maybe in the future I'll purchase something. I have enough project cars to deal with lol.

Just installed the AWE SwitchPath exhaust on my Dark Horse and I"m thinking about headers. Did you go with the Kooks 1 7/8, High Output (HO) Green Cats or the non HO Cats?

So I would choose the Dark Horse over the base GT, because Dark Horses seem nicer with the vinyls on the hood and front bumper, along with a spoiler that shows off more. Plus the Dark Horse badge looks dope!

Id personally get the base and modify it myself. The DH is cool though. I seen one in my area in the Dark gray color.

After seeing this video, it's making me want to drop my car a .5" all the way around. Maybe 3/4" in the front and .5" in the rear. I want to keep as much room for tires in the back as I can JK I ever make it to a drag pack set up.. I don't care for the slammed look but I also want it to be slightly lower and not lose the handling. I've been looking at different Steeda springs.. Man hopefully I can get the dark horse next yr, selling my 18 premium and putting a hefty down payment because I thought about getting a GT but might as well get what I want and keeping mostly stock as a daily driver and I’m like you, the dark horse is practically done out of the factory and ready to go and that’s what want. I’ll keep working my butt off until then! lol

I guess if you're on a budget or you don't intend to track the car, a GT is perfectly fine... but if you're buying a GT to drag race or street race, then snag a 2023 model so it can be tuned.

Alrighty, Time to add some extra nerd shit/comments on this one (why you might ask, to help give my guy some views here). Speaking as an S550 owner without a Performance Pack (400A because heated and ventilated seats), what I will say is for those looking at doing brakes, if handling performance is your intention with the S550 or S650, please note that the stock base brakes on all mustangs are Brembo's (yes they are, In order to get them to fit into a price point Ford paid for Brembos without branding). Because of this the stock performance is way higher than what most people actually think. If you go for a track day most folks on the forums (mustang6g) really recommend only upgrading the fluids and for those regulars to track days obviously streetable-track specific pads. Another thing to keep in mind (especially for brake upgrades) is the unsprung mass especially if you are slapping new rubber and light weight wheels on all four corners. I've spoken with a few guys and they mentioned this point (now is the effect marginal, maybe, but if it creates a significant difference in feel then it is what it is). And most important before you upgrade your brake system, think about upgrading your rubber. Its not your brakes that are stopping you, its the rubber (well 95% of the equation is the rubber). All the brakes are doing is taking the energy from the wheel spinning and turning it into heat (oversimplified, if you want thorough explanation hit up Jason from Engineering Explained). Now for the gents in the video, keep on trucking, I expect ya'll to hit that 500K (yeah pushing that hurdle up by a few pegs 🫡🫡🫡)

As an S550 GT premium with performance pkg owner, I'd choose to buy the JAPANESE car. Took me over 40 yrs to finally get my new Mustang, only to absolutely hate it. 1st Ford and my last. Ford can go to hell.

I'm not buying anything...due to getting hit in a 55mph head on collision and then shortly after an old man backing into my pristine 2021 gt that i had to sell....i have lost nearly everything and am broke...tired of it all rn

So if the difference is an additional $10K after the GT mods then I would spend an extra $10K($20k total) and get the Dark Horse. Dark Horse is worth the $20k stock difference in my opinion. All the suspension mods from GT350 and GT500s and front and rear coolers, brakes, wheels, magnetic ride, plus interior its ALL worth the extra $20k. Now GT guy got all his mods free so the $10K difference does not matter to him since they were given to him to mention their products. Personally if it does not have the Tremec manual I don't want it and the regular GT manual is trash. No interest in that 10 speed; had it in my '17 Raptor and never liked it.
