I was the only one in the world to beat Paul Germain when he was in his prime as a Taekwondo athlete. I beat him in his own country in Quebec, Canada. May 27, 1985. Search the archives. I am Edgar Bonilla and I represented the ITF Puerto Rico in several international tournaments around the world. I won the gold medal at the 1st Intercontinental Coupe Championship in Quebec, Canada. And bronze medal at the 1984 ITF World Taekwondo Championships

Is it just me or at the women self defense demo part the women get more and more high pitched 😂

I guess the organisers want to emphasise that the art may be used for self defence, even by 'frail; women. So they encourage the demonstrator to yell loudly to a ridiculous degree.

Just as I thought. ITF techniques are exactly the same as WTF techniques, just the forms and patterns are different.

KoreoBace Yes, not everybody would agree with it. But all in all it is nearly the same. And that is the reason why there should be „One World and One Taekwondo“. Than the Sport of Taekwondo could be much more famous.

No..no way. No they are not. Movement in patterns are different, the kicks may be slightly or very different. ITF does NOT have a whip kick for example. WTF cut kick aka their side piercing kick is very different from ITF side kick. WT's is more like a push and judging by the way it's employed in competition is not really intended to cause damage. Side piercing kick is a mainstay of ITF..definitely a technique normally done with speed and power. They're not the same AT ALL. That take reminds me of a similar take I had whilst doing ATA TKD. I figured they were the same, ATA and ITF, just different patterns and 'bouncing' aka sine wave. Nope, I was VERY wrong. They're hella different.

В Корее есть два вида : ITF и WTF. Почему WTF пытается себя выдать за ITF ? Почему в Кореях слово "Куса" или "Ниндзя" является оскорблением ? Да, мы используем японскую рафинированную технику из смеси шотокан карате и джиу - джитсу, но люди, не совершившие преступлений не заслуживают неприличных намёков. ITF теквондо показывает старую японскую технику без ущемления приёмов, а WTF - для показательных спортивных поединков. Раньше Корея была частью Японии.

One world, one Taekwondo should be alive! Why is it necessary to have the ITF and WT Taekwondo? Taekwondo would be much more famous if WT and ITF were an olympic association together. It's a shame to give away so many opportunities for this fantastic sport.

Olympics ruined Taekwondo. They turned it into a mere sport with a lot of restrictions. Make taekwondo fearsome and strong again

Marco Arana You just have to find a way between the WT and ITF Taekwondo. Because if there would be „One World and One Taekwondo“, the Sport Taekwondo could be much more famous than today. And Taekwondo would not be a fringe sport anymore.

Both can exist. Same as fencing and hema, boxing and mma, point karate and Karate-Do, itf and wt, formula 1 and rally. The sport versions are nice to allow for the safest fastest possible movements with precision and the practical forms are good for realistic pressure testing.

It's called a Grasping Kick...it's in Gen Choi's Encyclopedia. It's ALWAYS been in the ITF curriculum but it's NOT in the patterns. For that matter, there are at least two , two-direction kicks in ITF TKD. One that consists of a high twisting kick on one leg and a simultaneous side piercing kick with the other leg. That's in Juche. The other is a front snap kick with one leg and a mi-air back kick with the other leg. That one isn't in any ITF form, as far as I know. Not every ITF technique is in the forms.
