I broke my foot just like that poor gentleman at the end of the video. It took over a year to heal right.

Master Your Garden Oregon. I bet it still gives you problems now. Foot injuries can remain troublesome for many years.

I noticed they are using those plastic boards that you slide back together. Good way to save time on clean up but they are tough to break especially when stacked. This was a really good video.

I'd go last - those plastic boards become easier to break very quickly.

ITF powerbreaks have always been my favorite to do when I was in training with Grandmaster Hong Son Yu. I was his go to student for demonstrations. Always an enjoyment!! However back then the artificial boeards were not well known or being made well, I love the feel and sound of the pine breaking better. And it is not as easy as it looks to break multiple stacked boards or cinder blocks, thats when it is critical to make sure you follow through with 110% of everything you can muster. I'm 5'5 and at the time I was about 130 lbs, and yes I was able to get through 11, 1.5 inch cinder blocks with an axe kick.

boards look small. if they mishit or miskick, they can be injured easily. boards should be bigger. and the machine carrying boards should have some protections.

Good use of a board holder although I wonder how bad the metal frame could hurt the competitor if they missed the board. That's why Board Brother is made of wood with curved edges and we recommend students wear pads while practicing.

Trust me, the metal frame hurts if you hit it bare foot at full force. However if you measure correctly and keep your concentration it is unlikely that you will miss the mark.

+David French i agree to a point but i think it was partially down to improper measurement as well as unconcentration.

Accuracy and Speed, knowing where to hit the board as well. Condition your foot for the impact, pull the toes back, and you must get your knee up, and hit the board 90 degrees to the face, so your power goes Through the board. You actually want to kick an inch behind the board. Work out on a pad or bag where in your kicking motion, you have the most power. This is where you need to position the boards, when attempting your break. Start with 1 board and work your way up over time, to multiple boards.

Referencing a man with a fake 1 inch punch. If you hit someone with your fore-fist hard enough to knock them off of their feet, they will have broken bones and might die.

Breaking techniques applied to wood and other materials are meant to measure your own power, that is, the one you have reached so far, as well as improving your precision, strenght, posture, etc. Also it is a way to show TKD to the ones who do not know it well.
