I really miss my 2001 supercharged X. My 2011 pro4x is better in every way but that old boy still has a place in my heart. If Nissan makes a third gen I am all in.

Get some tires worth offroading, makes a difference like night and day! Had a blue 02 like the one in the video..always was one of my favorite looking platforms. Makes me want to offroad again!

Its funny you ask that because my xterra sat in a puddle for 30 mins , alternator was way under and I said to my buddy how does the alternator not break. He said since its so hot the water is being burnt off. Sounds stupid and funny but after she started up ran no issues. 4 months later I finally replaced it just for safety

Definitely look into getting manual hub lockers, affordable and easy install. You lock them in manually for all time 4x4, instead of relying on the auto hubs that never truly spins all 4 tires at the same time. I hate the auto hubs!

Auto hubs have nothing to do with locking all 4 wheels together at the same time, you need front and back locker inside the rear end diff and front diff. The xterra auto hubs lock in only the wheel their on and are very strong stronger that most manual hubs available for the xterras except for the Nissan Hard body 4x4 manural hubs they are very strong.

@@beardumaw24 I think you missed the point of my comment. Auto hubs in the front are vacuum actuated, if that fails then you’re screwed on the trail. Manual hubs lock in, you don’t have to rely on vacuum. That’s why people upgrade to it. But what do I know I just work on 4x4s daily.

If you are taking about the r50 pathfinders, the ones from the late 90s early 2000s. Id say their off road capibility is the same. The xterras suspention holds up better to offroad use. The pathfinder drives much better on road. The drivetrain is the same so the reliabilty is equal. So id say the winner would be the xterra because it will hold up better. I had a r50 pathinder and it was great but it would not be able to do everything the xterra has done and still ride like nothing happened.
