Snow Monkey Park is a park located in Nagano, Japan for observing wild Japanese monkeys. It is a tourist spot, known for its wild monkeys soaking in hot springs in winter🐒♨️
We stayed at a hot spring inn called Jigokudani Korakukan, which is the closest to Snow Monkey Park. The ryokan has open-air baths, and wild monkeys also come, so if you're lucky, you can bathe together! It is a very nice ryokan with a long history and a family atmosphere. I was very moved when I took a bath with a monkey. I have never seen monkeys so close!
Snow monkeys are famous, but not many people know that there are hot springs where you can bathe with wild monkeys. At Korakukan, you can enjoy the hot springs without staying overnight until 3:00 pm, so be sure to check it out. Don't forget your swimsuit!

LOL I love the monkey in the Ryokan's bath looking like "'What's up!", like they're so used to people being there and are fine with it as long as you leave them be. 😁 Just beautiful with the snow. I'm in the USA in Pennsylvania and although we normally get a lot of snow this time of year, it's wet and gross right now.

@@oscarthagrouch Where i said that it's an utopia? Probably nowhere. I know the dark sides of Japan, but 1. Yes, every country isn't ideal, 2. Japan now isn't that bad as it was like 100 years ago, and 3. In top 5 countries I want to visit Japan is only on fourth place. I think that people should know about country problems, but saying everywhere "(Insert country name) isn't that good as you think" must be stopped imo, cause only kids idealize anything. And also, my country is way more worse that Japan because of criminals. I just want to move out of it.

Sharing a hot spring with monkeys (or any animal), ignoring the potential sanitation issues, the people out here where I live would definitely try to mess with those poor animals. Just wait until you see polar bear swims. We do that here in Canada when it is -20c to -30c always with other people because the sudden cold can cause you to collapse. Saying that though, cold weather jokes are fun. How can you tell its spring in Canada? It's -10c and people are wearing shorts. It is and isn't a joke people really do wear shorts while shoveling snow when its that cold.

Even in the same room :) It was full of their poop (eew), but we were in awe. Definitely once in a lifetime trip. Thanks to you guys! We always enjoy your videos. Love from Canada. Edit to add: for those saying the monkey pee/poo or whatnot… you’re right. It was simply gross. But the owner of the place empties and cleans the entire tub at 8am every day, and they test the water to make sure there’s no unsafe diseases. You can wash your body with soap right away once you go inside as well. Again, it was absolutely disgusting bathing in their pee and poo, but here I am well and alive. It was something I would do once in my entire life. And I’m glad that I did!

I *knew* that house had to be something special when I visited that area about 10 years ago. Damn it, never knew it was a ryokan we could've stayed in! Guess I gotta go again.

When I was little, I loved playing Ape Escape on the Playstation 1. It looks like one of the levels was based on this hot spring. So cool! 🤩
