Such a surprise gem. Nobody saw the trailers or any of the promotional materials and WANTED to see this. But the ones who did let everyone know just how good it was. Now, it’s a Cult Classic

24:20. 1 thing people are often confused about at the ending of the film is that because Cage & J Squad launched their attack several hours BEFORE the entire surprise invasion took place, & Cage got covered in the Omega's blood he was able to regain the ability to rewind time 1 day again like when he got covered in the Alpha's blood. So, when he went back 1 day this last time he ended up in the helicopter since that's where he was several hours before waking up in the military base, but because the Omega died all of the other Mimics died as well, so Cage was able to restart the day but the Mimics stayed dead. &, if Cage ever dies again he'll restart the day since he still has the Omega's power, unless he gets a blood transfusion again.

It’s impossible to know exactly how many resets happened but we do get a little help from Rita in the Van scene where she says “I watched Hendricks die over 300 times” meaning 300 days. IMO Toms mission was probably harder and more complicated so I would assume double that number (600) isn’t unrealistic for the amount of resets

One of my favorite films of the 2010s and sci fi movies! Loved the blending of various military sci fi stories (Starship Troopers, Aliens, Halo, etc) with a Groundhog Day style time loop. Plus it’s hilarious (I particularly love the “On Your Feet Maggot” montage)

The source material is "All You Need Is Kill" by Hirodhi Sakurazaka, an manga (Japanese graphic novel). Released 10 years ago, this week. One of the two Sci-Fi films that Cruise made back to back. The other was Oblivion (2013), great too. Also Cruise's 2nd film with director Doug Liman (Knight and Day) and writer Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher, The Usual Suspects, second half of the MissionImpossible film series). This was at Comic-Con 2013 with the filmmakers and primary cast answering questions, showing descriptions of the film. I saw this in IMAX, which sold a lot of tickets for the format. Cruise as the reluctant hero was interesting. Emily Blunt as the baddest warrior was cool. The movie was good. It's ending is considered kind of anti-climatic. Ever since, a sequel has been teased over the years.

So here is something fun I thought about when it comes to this movie. The enemy resets the day to basically do better the next time. So we have to ask the question, how many times has Cage been on that beach fighting the war before he took the power? The mimics at the start seem to know where to hit the transports and even have ambush units in the sand waiting for squads to show up. For all we know that beach fight could have happened hundreds of times before cage killed the Mimic. That is another reason why I think the alpha mimic is on the front lines. If it dies then that means the mimics didn't do a good enough job and it wants the day to reset.

NICE! One of my favorites... Been waiting on the sequel ever since. It's suppose to be called "Live, Die, Repeat and Repeat". My theory? Cage and Rita live a long happy life and have a few kids together, Cage dies of old age shortly after Rita and wakes up back in camp as they get ready for the beach invasion..

Yes!! I love this movie, it's so exciting and action packed. These are the scariest aliens in the movies, imo. I'm surprised at how few people have even heard of this one. Oblivion is another lesser known Tom Cruise sci-fi that's definitely worth the watch.

Quite possibly my favourite comedy/drama/romance/action/sci-fi/war movie.

The problem with this idea is that everytime he dies, it would completely change the trajectory of events (butterfly effect). Still a great film though!

There's a made for TV film called 12:01 that came out in 1993 that's similar to this and Groundhog Day that it sued (I think they ended up giving up on the lawsuit so they didn't win) because of their claim that they stole the idea from their short from a few years earlier they made their longer version 12:01 from. It's pretty entertaining. Has some comedy and sci-fi in it in case you ever wish to check it out.

Looper is another cool time travel movie if you haven't seen it!

Great movie. You should watch other Time travel movies like Frequency 2000 and The Butterfly Effect 2004 or Prince of Persia 2010. Also other great Tom Cruz movies like The Firm, A Few Good Man and Jack Reacher

Yeah, the newest MI (Dead Reckoning pt 1) is totally worth of a reaction. The Christopher McQuarrie directed episodes are all fire, imo.

Yeah this came out when Cruise was really annoying and people got sick of him with his relationship and Scientology and other stuff that this movie bombed in theaters but reviewers loved it and gave such praise as did the few who solved it and bc of that I checked it out at a dollar theater and was so glad I did. Just a fun film

Peakkkk film. Definitely carried by the first half but thats just because it's so good. Still a solid ending and a surprisingly good role from Tom Cruise of all people.
