I think that you will find it's more complex than that. On one hand the indoors of a mall or shop may be considered a public space in terms of photography but it is also a private space in terms of permission to be there. Privately owned spaces (like malls) do not have to allow you to enter or to stay. Provided they don't discriminate (by breaking the provision of the human rights legislation) they can have their own rules about what is banned in their premises. This can include all sorts of things such as photography, skateboarding, swearing, running, clothing rules etc. They can require you to leave their private property if you don't follow their rules.

I can't remember all the movies I saw there, but can remember seeing All Dogs Go to Heaven, which nearly had me in tears 😪 lol. @@FerretKibble Well good to know you feel safe and that my experience isn't valid to your experience, I've literally had people shouting stuff at me while walking back to my car from the train station while they were drinking in public. Maybe you just don't have to walk around when the sun goes down much? or maybe you don't even live in rewa/ "that area". I've also had someone follow me home which is why I now have a treadmill. Another "Invalid" occurrence was when I left the interior light on in my car and had someone on my ring camera go right up to my car which was on my driveway to see if there was anything they could take. Generally people are pretty cool here but like anywhere in the world its about time and place and not looking like you would be easy to take advantage of.
