You are wonderful! Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks. But most of all, thank you for staying on task and not wasting time by talking about what your cats/dogs did or your favorite place to eat. I mean I wouldn't mind watching those kind of videos but when I'm wanting to learn, I want to learn. LOL. I've tried to watch some popular people's videos, but they're WAY long and there's only, for instance, 10 minutes of actual learning time in a 40 minute video. Yet here I am rambling on. Thank you and LOVE your videos. Especially loved the "bloopers" at the beginning. Maybe you should post a bloopers video, just for laughs.

If you have some hanging around, you can use cheap UV nail gel to add colour or gloss too. No waiting because you put it under the lamp after. Just make sure to choose one without a sticky layer.

popsickle sticks and toothpicks as well as little condiment cups with lids (sold at Walmart by the napkins and paper plates) I have used these for mixing paints, glitters, water down glues, pour gems or sequins in the little cups.... I'm never without these things, along with EVERYTHING you recommended.

“...glitter in the meatloaf.” LOL. Another classic memorable line. You are so funny. It adds a really nice, fun touch to tutorial videos about on paper crafting. Thanks for feeling free to show us yourself in these videos. You’re funny and charming, which are two of my favorite personality combinations.

I'm brand new to papercrafting and I have to say: your channel is one of the very few I can tolerate. You have a sweet, conversational style and never take yourself too seriously. Your videos are both informative and entertaining. I know this is an "old" one, but I especially liked it.

This is one of my favorite videos! While these “bloopers” may make you cringe, they only make me like you more, and love your personality! Where would I be without knowing about the “tittle”? Thank you J.D. for all of your time and effort in producing these videos! Susan S. Thompson

I recently discovered your channel and am really enjoying it! I have gone back and watched some of your earlier videos. I’m still laughing at your pop-up cards video. “Fat shaming my tape” for being too wide was so funny. Also when you never thought the sentence “Snipping up into the teddy bears arm pits” would ever be said. Love your observations and sense of humor.

Before I got some glossy accents, I have used clear nail polish. I put several coats on my cut outs,it gives dimension too, the more coats you do. Little more work. But it's worth it. Love the "web" idea to cut dies. I've bought several bead style containers with dividers , cut out a bunch of different images so I have them when I need them. Especially flower, leaves, words. Etc. Thanks for sharing.

That web is BRILLIANT! My tip is simple. When you are cutting and embossing with a die, I keep seeing cutting first. Tape your die down. Emboss first, the tape remains in place and then you cut without it moving.

Very interesting. There were a few there that I'd never thought about. One hack I have is for using with intricate dies. I don't have a metal shim, which apparently helps you get clean cuts and get all the pieces out when you've finished. But I've found that if I put some grease proof (baking) paper between the cardstock or paper and the die it really helps. It cuts out at the same time (so you get an extra die cut image if you want) but, more importantly, it is so easy to get everything out of the die. This has helped me so many times when I'd otherwise be stuck there for ever trying to poke out every little bit of paper. Thanks for shaing.

A piece of handy info: when doing several layers of clear embossing powder, after the first layer, don't re-ink between embossing. If you add the embossing powder while your die cut/shape is still hot, it will stick to it. Not only does it save ink, but constantly re-inking can leave your shape cloudy, esp if it is a light colour. I think it looks better this way. Hope that helps!

You've got to try a fresh dryer sheet to remove and keep all those little pieces together. Simply fold a fresh dryer sheet in half, place it over your card stock in which ever way you like to die cut. After running it through your die cutting machine most if not all of the little pieces are stuck in the dryer sheet. I really like this when I want to save those pieces to use with any inlay techniques. The dryer sheet can be used a few times by simply folding to a clean side.

Hi JD! Great tips, and here are 2 of mine. 1 - we recycle plastic grocery bags but the ones with the holes in them go in my craft room. I cut them into smaller pieces and they make great release papers when placed between the die and card stock. Then I use a pokey tool or an eraser to start the peel from the card stock. 2 - used dryer sheets are great for sweeping those little bits of paper from my cutting plates because static electricity really makes them cling.

JD, I just found your channel and everything you talked about in the beginning was me. I got a vagabond and about the 3rd attempt I got a die stuck and I could not get it out, when I did it cut into a cutting tray and now I have a permanent bow in the cutting tray and have to skip that area or it shows up in the dies I run through. Thank you for your honest talk, your ideas and showing how to use the products really helps. Have a good day. Chris

Oh, my goodness! I loved the intro showing some of your struggles -- we all know the struggle is real! LOL! Hey, JD, this video is the first time I've seen you and I think every.single.thing you shared was helpful to me! I haven't done a lot with my electronic die cutting machine(s): Gemini Jr. and Cricut Explore Air, but hope to use them more in the coming months. I have tons of supplies from the 90's (seriously) and never even use my rubber stamps, embossing powders, and inks. After watching your video, I got SO EXCITED and INSPIRED to try some of your techniques with the die pieces! I never even thought of embellishing them in this way! Thank you SO much for sharing your experiences and compiling these hacks-- you have a new fan in me!

An other idea for the clear coating: depending on the thikness of your paper and your die and your machine (not all papers are working with all types of dies and not all machines are powerfull enough in pressure), laminating (lamination pouches also vary in thinkness) the paper first and then die cut. Could also give you a shine and some sturdiness.

Great hacks, thanks for sharing. Here's a tip for embossing power storage, I use manila envelopes for colors I use often, labeling the folder with the color on the tab, seal one side, the fold the other open side diagonally, when ready to use, fold the diagonal side over, to use, then use a paper clip or tape to come back and place back in storage.
