Fixing Everything on my CHEAP Terminator Cobra

I bought a 2003 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra 10th Anniversary aka Terminator Cobra. It was the cheapest one in North America that was running, has a clean title, needs nearly nothing, and can be driven and enjoyed as is. In this video, I'm doing some basic maintenance with fresh fluids (oil change, transmission fluid flush, supercharger oil) as well as replacing the valve cover bolts with stainless as well as the leaking grommet. This is all in preparation for a dyno run and then much more maintenance and performance parts thanks to Summit Racing, Maximum Motorsports, Borla Exhaust, and some other parts!
Big shout out to Ben at Dixie Bloor Service for doing all of the maintenance on it as well as some upcoming modifications.

You got lucky finding Ben. I have had my mustangs abused by shops. I had exhaust done at shop the guy bounced my coyote off rev limiters about 7 or 9 times. It's nice leaving your car with someone that you know it's coming back to you better than how you left it.

I put aluminum foil over the suspension, steering rack and lines to keep the oil filter oil from draining all over and making a mess....works great and easy clean up!!

If you get a piece of cardboard you can stick it up under your oil filter so when you change it it wont get any of those power steering lines or rack oily. Just a tip from someone who has done it on these cars for a while

I’d check the transmission fluid again. If you filled it cold then when it’s at operating temperature the fluid is going to expand and be overfilled. You should get it to operating temperature and then put it back on the ramp and check it again. Then allow it to drain out until it becomes a drip.

Just an fyi, Royal purple Synchromax or amsoil manual synchromesh trans fluid are imo the best fluids you can run in a t56, 3550, tko500/600, t45, 3650, t5 and tkx. I specialize in 79-04 mustangs and either fluid goes in all my cars and all of my customer cars that have manual transmissions.

In 2014 I bought a 1989 Yamaha FZR1000 with only 4,002 original miles. It had last been registered in 1991. It still had the stock tires on it. They were so hard the mechanic had to cut them off.

My brother and I did the double gasket oil change in our parents' garage as well. Only happened that one time, but I'm forever scarred. I crouch down and stare at the oil filter for about 5 minutes after every oil change now 😂

@greatcolor I check to make sure it is NOT on the engine at this point, but same concept. Even so, the paranoia created from seeing a flood of oil spewing underneath the car as a teenager will haunt me forever 🤣

@@jamesmitchell9200 could be worse. Back when I was a tech we had a customer car drive in, puking oil everywhere. They got double-gasketed at a quick lube place and it was puking oil. I couldn't believe there was any left tbh but that engine was toast.

Penrite make a specific gear oil for the T56 pro gear full synthetic 70W-75 and provides much better shifts than any of the auto trans fluid options available imho...at least in Australia anyway

Up to the fill hole is enough supercharger oil. It's actually bad to overfill the SC oil as well

I used the same delco oil in my cobra. Pretty sure I filled it until it started to drain out, it’s been several years since and it’s been fine.

They’re amazing. I run them on my E55 AMG as well as the Foxbody. Great all around tire, quiet, performs very well in the dry and exceptional in wet

Been replaced recently. We also mentioned in the video that the diff cover will be resealed and the axle boot replaced. No sense doing it twice

@@itsreallyjakub I'm excited. I run a bunch of MM parts. Their coil-over kit and control arms up front, FL Subframe connectors, and rear lower-control arms (SRA swapped) Making 800whp with a Whipple, their shit holds together really well!

For the record in a straight the cobra was faster because it was under rated at 390ph from factory and the corvette was 405hp. So after you do all these tune-ups i say get a dyno done to it to see where it is it. I still have not ever had this car and i had 5 mustangs in my life,if i waited 1 more year instead i could have bought one instead of getting the 96 cobra i had years ago.( O wait i got to the end of the video and you are doing a dyno run,lol)

Actually a 2003 Z06 Corvette is faster to 60 and 1/4 mile than a 2003 Cobra. .5 second faster to 60

There's no way a stock Cobra would beat a stock C5 ZO6. The Cobra at roughly 420 real crank horsepower and weighing 3600 lbs, doesn't have the dimensions to beat the Corvette, which weighs less than the Cobra and has 405 horsepower, which is more than enough to motivate it past a Terminator Cobra, no problem. So, you're either making stuff up or you need to do a driver mod with an honest outcome. If I'm wrong, post a video proving such.

Never had oil come out of the drain plug like that…..on any car let alone my Cobra. Were they running 0-16? Lol… fill the blower until it comes out the fill hole…..seriously? This is comical.
