The lightring issue is understandable. In Asian countries nearly every fan buys a lightring. But historically outside of Asia, in the west (USA last tour and now New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, and Chille) most fans don't buy them and in fact very FEW fans bought them in the countries outside Asia this tour. NZ, Australia, Chille and Mexico fans in general didn't buy them, probably because of the cost, and not being able to use them between tours. So they expected Europe to be the same. Except for France were they already know they have a huge fanbase. So they didn't expect much from the lightring sales. I am sure you will get a better chance on the next tour.
