Fun Fact: IU did say in several interviews that she wanted to create like a lullaby song to help people sleep better because she herself was having troubled sleep during the night, so that's why she created this song! Please check out her live performances Rob, Patrict, Wilkins and Wellz! I'd recommend her performance at the MMA (Mnet Music awards) 2017. I love IU voice so much. She is really talented. Korea also love her so much. Most kids, teens, adults and elders love her. She is digital monster in korea. She is already well respected and legendary singer in korea. And she is just 25 years old! But she already debuted almost 10years ago. Her live performance is so good too. Even BTS jungkook named her as ideal type. Many celebrities admire her even female celebrities because of her voice. Many celebrities even attend her concert. You can check out her song twenty-three. All her album are also really good too. Its really high quality. Many artists express collab with her. She is no.1 that artists want collab. Thats how influential IU as singer in korea.

She actually mentioned in her concert in Seoul that this song came about because her company asked her to write a love song, but the problem was, she wasn't sure what love was or really how to love someone else when she struggles so much to love herself. She also suffers from insomnia and much of this albums includes songs where she basically found herself wondering what people do to fall asleep and feeling completely isolated at night. While she does mention a love interest in the lyrics, she said in her concert that it was mostly about the love she wish she could give herself and her longing to dream and get through the night like normal people. It basically carries a double meaning - she wrote a love song for her company in her style, but also imagined hope for the her and others like her who wait for the night to end.

IU has a large and varied repertoire. She started out doing some bright pop numbers, most of which were major hits, but she has real depth as a vocalist, as you could hear in this song. Future suggestions for IU reactions: "Good Day", "You and I", "Someday" (from Dream High in which she made her acting debut), "Friday", "23", "Ending Scene"... that's a start. Also check out something with her telling jokes or talking on shows. She has a sparkling personality. Enjoy! 💜

Every time I hear IU's voice at the beginning of a song I get a tear in my eye, because I think of how she came from very little and had to live with her grandmother because her parents couldn't afford a big enough place for them all to fit and stay. She was turned down by so many agencies, and has worked her way up to be a person the entire country adores and looks up to.

On the one hand, welcome to the world of IU. All her stuff is not soothing but its all great. She writes and produces a lot of her work. The two songs you listened two are from the album where she has the most credits. Her musical style is so versatile. Korea loves her as does Billboard. You need to listen to more form Korea's "little sister." On the other hand, laughing so hard I choked at the whole killing saga halfway through this video. Couldn't wait a few minutes? I'm so glad you put this video up anyway. Lmao.

Good Day and Red Shoes are well known and give another side of IU. For simple videos like Wilkins asked for look for more solo artists who are not part of groups. Kpop bring the elaborate videos. Other Korean music particularly ballad singers don't go that hard.

You should also react to Dear Name - special clip(don't forget to turn the CC on) by IU and her performance of Through the Night and Dear name at Melon Music Awards 2017(she basically invited aspiring singers or struggling, unknown singers to sing with her, which makes it even more meaningful considering the meaning of the song).

I don't care what race you are or what background you're from, when IU sings this song, everyone becomes quiet and just focuses on the melody. Doesn't matter if you understand the language or not. These types of music transcends language. It's the feel and vibe of the song that bring you in.

IU's at the top in Korea right now. Like BTS-level or more (in Korea.) She came from a small company, she makes and writes her own songs, and she raked in all the money all by herself. I'm not a fan but she really writes great melodies and songs. Plus it's hard to make it in Korea if you're a solo artist but she made it to the top as one.
