About shopper there's an interview with IU when she mentions when she was a child, kids used to want to be different things, lawyer, idol, doctor, scientist etc and change from day to day, now even kids are as she said more "realistic" and what they want is controlled by perception of success. and she ends saying something like when you're a kid you should dream about whatever you want without having your dream crushed, I mean if a kid can't dream about life who can! About love wins all, there is a not seen before scene, that was shown in the recent concert in Seoul. The important thing is the place where it was presented, the launch of there HER tour. Lastly I could not help myself to cry hearing your emotion and happiness making this video that sincere UAENA feeling always get me with you guys.

Shh is such a IUness art piece, It can be a topic of philosophical thought, and she with her talent to make a audio-visual transition form so beautifully and poetry. the usage of three generation singers…..she is beyond the frame . A true legend.

Thank you for making this great album review vdo. I'm crying while watching you're talking about I stan U. Yes,I've read the lyric before but not truly reallize how much love IU gave us. It fullfiled my hollow heart on my current depressed period. Oh, about what you mentioned that LWA seem not matched with other songs in this album. I just read IU's lastest interview in Marie Claire mag, she said the context under all lyrics of this album is " Winning ". All songs have "win" or "victory" in their lyric. Suddenly this statement made all songs in the same theme perfectly,right? Thx again and hope I can find the way to subscribe your Patreon soon.

Thank you both so much for another amazing album review! I cried for a good minute or two after my first listen of I Stan U and I can’t help but crying happy tears after hearing you explaining the song as well. IU is older than me and I feel so supported by her existence and her music. She’s gone through so much and still continue to give comfort and positive messages to people. When I see her I feel like I’m gonna be just fine too when I get older. She’s such an inspirational woman. Ahhh I also can’t wait to go to her concert! I hope all of us uaenas get the tickets we want. 🫶

I’m going to put something way out of left field to think about: IU is not the only one to put out an album in the last two weeks about love and personal growth with a full stack of visuals. A hint: this other artist starts with “재” and ends in “로” LOL. Honestly, with all the buzz (most of it very negative) it’s gotten, I watched JLo’s musical short movie on a dare with my friends, and I was surprised how it could have easily just been a long form Korean idol MV (um, with more budget and celebrity appearances). If anything, it’s shocking to me how much hate its received, based mostly, it seems, on the audacity of a woman to make this project based on the exploration of the idea of love and how its taken shape in her life. I think what IU’s done is remarkable and wonderful in its own right (and, no shade, I prefer all of it over JLo’s decidedly more expensive and bombastic project), but it made me think about how American critics might respond to “Shopper” and its fantastical concept when they had nothing nice to say about Jenny sunbaenim from the Block’s choreographed number in her equally metaphor-driven “heart factory.” I’m glad you guys did this thorough review, or else I wouldn’t have made the connections between IU and Jennifer Lopez of all people in my head. No one else in the English-speaking world is going to do this deep of a dive explaining IU’s trajectory with as much knowledge as you two, and it gives good perspective about women in pop music and what stories they are allowed to tell when its on their own terms (and they’re paying to do so).

I could listen to your thoughts for hours🤩🥕🥕🥕 Personally I think Love Wins All is not disconnected from the first 3 tracks... I think it provides the "lens" for the interpretation of the previous songs, whether you consider the album from the point of view of her personal story or a message for us, because love (and other people who love) is necessary to become ourselves, have confidence, create relationships... and then support other people. IU's growth process could only happen because she realized that being loved makes her capable of loving and doing great things, which is why she can find the courage to fly higher... The message I read in the tracks is: 1) Be yourself and desire 2) Be yourself even if you have not flourished and have no roots 3) Be yourself in your relationships, because you are the same and at the same time different from others 4) Be yourself, with your flaws, but love and let yourself be loved to survive/live/win 5) Support every “self” and know that someone is supporting you
