Hello, I am confused that why since Hypertonic solution can drag fluid from brain cell during brain edema and cause hypervolemia in blood vessel, but if we administer hypertonic IV to patients, we have to watch out for pulmonary edema. It looks like one side, it can decrease edema and other side can cause the edema.

Best video on this. So I have a question, if a patient has pulmonary edema would you give the patient a hypotonic solution ?

So…Thanks for the awesome video but if you could please help me verify this: Dextrose 50% is a hypertonic solution aiming to increase serum glucose, but administering it will cause the cells to shrink. the only contraindication for this is intracranial hemorrhaging, and is the reason behind this because we do not want to shrink the cell because the brain will be in need of the blood cells? I'm not sure about sth. You said hyponatremic patients get hypersonic solutions. We know that hypersonic draw the water from cells to plasma. And making plasma more watery. This will cause LOWER CONCENTRATION of Na. But then you said Na follows the water comes from cells and that's why Na levels at plasma will increase. Here is the thing that I don't understand : I thought water following Na. Not as "Na following water" the reason I thought this is water pass every membrane by osmosis but Na needs gates. So the logical statement should be : The water follows Na. The one which can pass every membrane follows the one which can not pass every membrane. Help me pls. I am so f.ckin confused....
