The NPCC guidance on public photography says if hostile reconnaissance is suspected do not approach the suspect, observe and immediately contact your local counter terrorist unit for guidance. So what do the MET always do ? Jump straight in and go for a search. Failing that they fall back on PACE 1. I'm surprised they didn't try a Sec 50 to get your details or if they're really desperate the Mental Health Act, because of course they are concerned for your wellbeing.

If you watch most people walking along a footpath many of them look at parked cars. Whilst watching this from my office window I have come to the conclusion that criminal activity is not the intent. Most are simply looking at their reflection in the car windows, so there you have it, it's a vanity thing, absolutely nothing to do with crime. Sadly our police force will now make a criminal offence out of just about anything. Ha, ha, "are you OK, do you need any help, is there anything we can do to help you"? Clearly searching for some means to get you sectioned under mental health legislation. Their sneakiness knows no bounds.
